Board Members In Denial

When I last looked at the Championship table we were in 19th place. And it's not as if we are unaccustomed to this lowly berth. In fact we spent most of last season hovering around this spot and much of this season too.

Strangely, a lot of board members are not unduly concerned by this lamentable showing. They all think things will come right simply because we are playing 'attractive football' now (it's amazing the effect that a home win against a club in turmoil can have, even when you only take one point out of the next nine).

What's even more peculiar though is that this 'attractive football' is not just a recent phenomenon (more on this later), it seems to have been with us since November 2004. It's been with us throughout 2005 when we have mustered just ONE win on the road. It's been with us for over 50 games when we have recorded back-to-back wins only ONCE.

It's even been with us during our recent goal drought. It's been with us while OPTA rate our individual players as amongst the worst performing in the division. And in true revisionist style it was with us on Saturday when it took a sending off to penetrate the worst defence in the division.

Levein is a new convert to the open expansive game. You can see that by the results it is bringing. Needless to say his suicidal tactics will be applauded on here even if this means RELEGATION FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER to the third league in English football.

Levein has been nothing if not consistent. He has been consistently mediocre. He talks a good game though. Enough to take in the gullible and the impressionible (as well as intellectual poseurs like Thracian). And of course THE GUILTY! Drum out in haste repent at leisure eh?

Bit by bit all the tin tacks and knicker elastic justifications that keep the Levein loyalists together are loosening and fraying at the edges. Wasn't it automatic promotion at first lads? Then it was play-offs. Then it was steadying the ship in mid table. For the lunatic fringe he even saved us from relegation.

The Levein era (surely coming to an end) has been a cautionary tale about unrealistically high and low expectations. Unfortunately the moral of this story is lost on most of you here. So let me put it in big letters for you.

IF WE EVER GET A MANAGER WHO GETS US PROMOTED DESPITE BANKRUPTCY GIVE HIM MORE THAN THE FIRST HOME DEFEAT OF THE SEASON BEFORE CALLING FOR HIS HEAD.

Hi Chandler, nice to see you back again. You were doing quite well until the last sentence which, sadly, gave the game away.

If the manager you're talking about in your last paragraph (the one who got us promotion despite being "bankrupt") is a certain M Adams, just look at what he's done for Cov (a lucky win against QPR doesn't mean they're any good) - they're shi** and we were shi** under him - CL's still trying to sort Adams mess out !

You mean the same Micky Adams whose sh** Coventry are 4 points higher than us in the table. What does that say about us then....? But, then, there's none so blind as those than won't see......

Nah, the spelling is too good. lush already knows that posting using another user name whilst suspended is considered a total banning offence so it wont be him......

Meh, it's just the usual, notice every time we lose or draw against a team we're 'supposed to beat' we get a slew of reactionaries flooding the forum with their negative short-termism. Just let them have their say, they won't stick around...

Whoever he/she is, stop shooting the messenger and listen to the message. Not a Craig Levein sycophant this one. And that is refreshing.

When I last looked at the Championship table we were in 19th place. And it's not as if we are unaccustomed to this lowly berth. In fact we spent most of last season hovering around this spot and much of this season too. CORRECT BUT WITH HIS OWN SQUAD AND NOT MICKYS

Strangely, a lot of board members are not unduly concerned by this lamentable showing. They all think things will come right simply because we are playing 'attractive football' now (it's amazing the effect that a home win against a club in turmoil can have, even when you only take one point out of the next nine).

ATTARCTIVE MAYBE NOT BUT SOME EDUCATED FANS SEE IT DIFFERENTLY AND CAN SEE THE FUTURE

CORRECT AGAIN BUT SOME EDUCATED FANS CAN SEE THE FUTURE CL IS TRYING TO BUILD WITH SWEET FA

It's even been with us during our recent goal drought. It's been with us while OPTA rate our individual players as amongst the worst performing in the division. And in true revisionist style it was with us on Saturday when it took a sending off to penetrate the worst defence in the division. BUT CREW ARE NOT ON THE BOTTOM EVEN WITH THIS RECORD SO IT MEANS ZILTCH

Levein is a new convert to the open expansive game. You can see that by the results it is bringing. Needless to say his suicidal tactics will be applauded on here even if this means RELEGATION FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER to the third league in English football. I DOUBT IT VERY MUCH. I COULD BE WRONG BUT DONT THINK I WILL BE

Levein has been nothing if not consistent. He has been consistently mediocre. He talks a good game though. Enough to take in the gullible and the impressionible (as well as intellectual poseurs like Thracian). And of course THE GUILTY! Drum out in haste repent at leisure eh? IF I AM GUILTY ITS BECAUSE I CHOOSE TO SUPPORT CL BECAUSE I CAN SEE THE FUTURE WITH HIM - YOU CANT, THATS FINE I RESPECT THAT

AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON IALL I WANTED WAS FOR THE MIGHTY LCFC TO SURVIVE IN THIS LEAUGE HAVING HAD A SEASON WITH HIS OWN SQUAD PLAYING TOGETHER FOR THE FIRST TIME. PLAY OFFS WERE UNREALISTIC EVEN FOR ME AS A CL BELIEVER. I STILL THINK WE WILL END UP MID TABLEISH BUT TO BE FRANK AS LONG AS WE SURVIVE AND GET THE SQUAD PLAYING GOOD FOOTBALL IT WILL PUT US IN A POSITION NEXT YEAR TO COMPETE FOR A PLAY OFF POSITION. I DOUBT EVEN IF WE SACK CL WE WOULD BE IN A POSITION TO GAIN AUTOMATIC PROMOTION. OBVIOUSLY YOU DO!

The Levein era (surely coming to an end) has been a cautionary tale about unrealistically high and low expectations. Unfortunately the moral of this story is lost on most of you here. So let me put it in big letters for you. THIS BEST REFLECTS THE SITUATION. UNREALISTIC HIGH EXPECTATIONS FROM PEOPLE LIKE YOU.

IF WE EVER GET A MANAGER WHO GETS US PROMOTED DESPITE BANKRUPTCY GIVE HIM MORE THAN THE FIRST HOME DEFEAT OF THE SEASON BEFORE CALLING FOR HIS HEAD.

I thought I would reply with big letters so that you could notice the difference between what you wrote and what I did. I hope its clear to you.

I feel CL is the manager for LCFC. He has nothing to spend, he has kicked out MA posers who nearly broke the club through un professional behaviour on top of Ta@#$rs reign as manager. I actually admire MA for falling on his sword when he did. In his words he couldent take the team any further that what he had achieved and it wasent just the fans fault that caused calls for his head it was the actions of his own team members. CL has cleaned out the cobwebs and is swopping and changing his team to see where he needs to improve. He has mentioned that attack is a priority for the club and he has produced improved and improving performances. Yes its frustrating to draw and lose games we should have clearly won but just remember that LCFC fans called for MON head because he was playing around with his squad , drawing and losing games we should have clearly won.

Be honest in your next post and identify if you were one of the people calling for MON head at that time?

If you were not then fair enough I guess its your turn now, but if you were then I for one would have thought that you should know better.

I'm getting really bored by this now.

Noone's happy with results, bud, but if you can show me an alternative then fine. If you can't, and you haven't, then shut up.

Oh that old time religion,

Oh that old time religion,

It was good enough for Moses,

It was good enough for Moses,

So it's good enough for thee.

Sorry mate but I don't subscribe to intelligent design...

I don't subscribe to the survival of the fittest either as it is a tautology.

Think about it...

Is it me or has the board picked up a load of new numpties today?

craig is an employee of the club and the fans pay his wages, they have the right to moan if he doesnt produce.

likewise you have the right to dream about things that "might" happen.
