Ritchie Wellens

Would love this also, doing wonders at Orient and the fans would be fully behind him!

Both Wellens and Challinor are in with a chance of promotion with their respective sides so could find themselves in the Championship due to their efforts this season. Challinor has an impressive 53% win rate.

As mentioned in the thread above both Brian Little and Martin O’Neill saw success at Darlington and Wycombe (via Norwich) before joining us so it would be worth considering them both.

Michael Appleton and Kevin Nolan are others worth considering  from the cheaper options . Appleton has  100% win rate at Leicester from his two matches in charge let’s not forget, and Nolan has been assistant to Moyes and experience of coaching the England under 20’s.

Dave Challinor has done very well and certainly served his managerial apprenticeship. Seems hard to think it is 25 years ago since he was the Tranmere man to watch in the 2000 League Cup Final against us

Another vote for wellens here . Talks sense , has managed to a budget and his sides play a bit, if we're looking for someone to build the club like Pearson did years back I think he'd be the man.

Robbie Keane- Not a chance. He was front runner for OH Leuven flew to Belgium as was offered the job only for Top etc to step in last minute and offer it to Chris Coleman. Top didn’t approve and doubt he would for them after that.

I was at that final too.

He was the bloke with the monster throw in all the media and pundits were getting all reved up about.

Elliot header from a corner kick, supplied by my "love child father" if memory serves me right..

If what you build in the FLC is going to have to be dismantled upon promotion, I wouldn't bother building it in the first place. The idea of having to endure what we've just endured every other season is both awful and unnecessary, but when Maresca built his team around Faes / Vestergard / Ndidi / KDH / Vardy (i.e. what was left of the backbone to the side that had just got us relegated) it wasn't too hard to see that that was where we were headed.

One of the great unknowns is what Enzo would have done with us. We can moan about the Board for the last two managerial appointments since Maresca, but we should give them some credit for appointing him - by no means a nailed on success when we brought him in. Rather than “building his team around” those players you mention, he dealt the hand that was played and made a pretty good job of it. You can’t deny his system worked well for the first half or two-thirds of the season before our wobble. We had a team still getting used to it and players still adapting all through last season really, but they all enjoyed it. With a full pre-season and a few signings aligned to his vision, I don’t seriously think we’d have gone into this season with Ndidi as a PL central midfielder in the same role we were forced to play him. We certainly wouldn’t have been forking out for Ayew or Decordova-Reid. I imagine he’d have made much better use of his contacts to get good youngsters and loans than Ruud (who made a big thing of that). And we were miles better at playing our system than Southampton.

I think we need someone that has already managed in the Championship. Someone who has a backroom staff ready to go from day 1, and also has a good knowledge of decent players that he has worked with or has had scouted at previous clubs, so we can get our business done early with a lot of outgoings needed. We need a complete rebuild, but a streamlined one, so we don't languish in the Championship for more than a season or two. I think style of play and entertainment factor has to come second for the time being. I suspect it will be Russel Martin as can't see Top going for Dyche, even though he would likely get us promoted. Personally, I think it is too much of a risk going with a Richie Wellens or someone from abroad who hasn't managed in England before. We really have to get promoted at the first or second time of asking, otherwise I can see us being stuck down here for years.

Southampton are a better run club than us, and are already going through the process. We'll all have to accept that they'll appoint a better manager than us. If we even get rid of the fraud we currently have.

Still annoying that Chelsea went for him and kiboshed us

Not sure I agree with this when they’ve hired recently Martin, Jones and Juric - who amazingly has a lower win rate than Ruud.
We are a complete mess of a club but I don’t think Southampton are miles better run club. Just look on their fans forums what they think of them.

You can just imagine Top asking Rudkin - so gardening leave is an option for us?
Rudkin - I don’t know it’s been a while since I watched gardeners world.

Here's what will happen ... Top and Rudkin will sit on their hands until anyone decent has been snapped up .... and will end up with someone who nobody else wants and has no idea .... and a squad of useless tw#ts ....

Yeah that's a bad run of managers for sure but none of them are worse than RVN

I don’t think there’s much between the 3 of them Ruud, Martin and Juric must be statistically the worst pl managers.
