I don't have any issues with tifos that are "bought" as such. So long as they show the message the fans want it to say and it's paid for by the fans.

They're expensive though. Cheaper to make it yourself.

Abroad, they find it laughable - simply on the grounds that the messages are not unique or special to the supporters because they are put through a filter of club-acceptable waffle.

For example, like the Sunderland one - 'till the end' is a nonsense tagline that the club have used. Villa using Ozzy Osborne when he was at the front of their shirt release in 24/25 and has a gig at Villa Park in July.

England isn't Europe though. England has it's own rich fan culture that is dying out due to extremely high ticket pricing and the constant moving of fixtures for TV. It doesn't need to pretend it's something it's not to copy mainland Europe.

Big debate about it all occurred when Villa played PSG recently.

PSG fans were chanting throughout the game, all very organised and led by people with their back to the pitch to coordinate every chant. You could hear them constantly through the game and very clearly.

Then the Villa fans were completely engaged during the match, roaring their team into every tackle, shot and near miss. Felt like their fans in the Holte End were sucking the ball into the net.

For me, there's only one winner.

Remind me what was hung from the Holte End before that game and what Villa fans cite as setting the tempo for the evening? As shit as the tifo was.

Europe giggles at us, because tifos aside, the fans have concede control of their support over to the clubs. On the continent, you have models such as member ownership and fanbase which will call everything out. English football supporters on the whole comply to the trope of English society where people seemingly have more allegiance to an authority figure than their fellow human

The group was told the net in the stand would need stewards to support it and there was not enough staff for this.

There is usually about 300 doing nothing around the ground.

It’s never ever needed staff. Never has any sort or tifo or banner ever been held by anyone other than a fan.

It’s all bullshit from them, would rather the CommsDirector just come out and say we have upset him again with the banners about his bosses.

If the atmosphere in england was like it was that night, they'd be no need for change.  Problem is they are rare occurrences, and most english grounds have little to no atmopshere.

For me there's room for both inside english grounds.  If fans were willing to make an atmosphere in the traditionally 'english' sense then great, but theres a new generation of fans influenced by our european neighbours who have never experienced a traditional english atmosphere because it died out before they ever went to a match.

That's why in Ireland and in Scotland the younger fans want the colour, and constant noise of the ultra style support.   Without it their stadiums would be devoid of atmopshere just like ours.

The reason for the lack of a consistently good atmosphere in most English grounds is because of the way clubs push out vibrant local people with deep rooted love for their Club for wealthier tourists who couldn't give a **** outside of wanting 90 minutes worth of entertainment.

It's not because English people don't want megaphones, drums and elaborate tifos.

95% attendees aren't tourists, this tourist myth gets peddled as an excuse.  If the fans wanted a traditional atmopshere they'd be making one.  If it takes a bunch of younger fans to create an atmsophere and they prefer the ultra style then that's fine with me, the other option is no atmosphere, because these traditional fans are either not going anymore or not willing to do anything.

That’s exactly the reason they’re acting the twat. Thought this myself last night. Really poor from the club, once more.

Neither agreeing or disagreeing because your point is valid

However it doesn’t explain the trend in Scotland or Ireland where there are no tourists and the younger generation are showing a larger appetite for the ultra esque style (my gut is that stems from a stronger feeling of community and tougher for clubs and authorities to police).

And then there’s examples of say Oldham last night where with a 10k sell out, the fan group made an excellent small tifo and added to the atmosphere.

Just another reason why fan made Tifos will always be better than the corporate rubbish printed out.

More context here. Made me well up.

I can guarantee that whatever union fs had planned for the tifo today would have been a million times better than the abomination the club have put together. Goat in 50 ft letters, who signed that off? A 15 yo on work experience. I despair I really do

Agreed, Thank flip for the UFS

It’s no wonder they’re getting more and more pissed off. You’d think the club would welcome not having to do anything except sign off the design. I mean look at the sheer difference between last seasons v Blackburn and this one. I’m fizzing 😂

Don't worry they've redeemed themselves by doing one for Faes in the Family Stand spelling DONKEY.
