Lincoln Red Imps of Gibraltar have qualified for the play-off stage of the Europa League.

They defeated Noah Yerevan of Armenia on penalties after an aggregate draw in the 3rd Qualifying Round.

If that's not worthy of a new topic, I don't know what is.....

Guaranteed Conference League football at a minimum right?

Yeah, losers drop into Conf league.

We've got Steau Bucharest, so will probably drop down.

I didn't think teams dropped down competitions any more. Or is that just for group stages?

Last I checked Steaua weren't pulling up any trees in Romania at the start of this season

I think for years now if you lose in the CL qualifiers you'll just get dumped into the EL qualifiers, then if you lose there you'll get dumped into the ECL qualifiers then if you lose there, you're toast.

However I think I read last week that Plzen who lost to Rangers in the CL qualifiers this week are guaranteed an EL group stage spot, so apparently they don't go into the EL final qualifying round?

The more I look at these qualifiers the more I feel they're somehow tiered to ensure lower level sides make it to the group stages, i.e Noah vs Lincoln of Gibraltar in the EL qualifiers tonight yet you had Shakhtar Vs Panathinaikos in another. I notice it every year, don't think it's just a lucky draw for these lower ranked sides lol

Yeah, just group stages.

I think Sherbourne and Linfield played each other in Europa qualifiers, have both been beaten at various stages and now play each other in the Conf playoff next week 😀

I believe they are tilted to allow the smaller clubs to progress to the group stages at least. This definitely happened prior to the. new group stage format.
On paper it looks like a good idea but it can lead to the same old clubs benefiting from the prize money, then dominating their domestic leagues.

That is a hell of a long way to travel to lose on penalties.

The second leg was in Armenia, so it was a hell of a long way for Lincoln Red Imps to travel back enjoying having won on penalties. :D

Some of the conference league aways would be epic in the new format. Imagine our lads in Yerevan.

Just imagining some of our fans piling out of the Fox Travel coach that has broken down somewhere in eastern Anatolia.

Ah well, conference league it is for the Dons, probobly our level.

We were well in the game at 0 0 until the worst penalty / sending off VAR decision I've seen in my life just before HT.

Besiktas totally out of Europe after getting knocked out of the Conference League be Lausanne. Not great for Ndidi if he moved there for European football...

Hoping Forest get the most vile, difficult draw possible and all of their away games are at stabby shitholes.
