Block P Posted 19 August 2025 Posted 19 August 2025 Understand all the comments about people needing to sit down because they’re old or like to sit quietly and pay their money etc etc. However, part of football is about bragging rights. Your rivals will turn up - standing to the front row, all motivated to get involved with the noise and basically mock us and have one over on us (rightly so). 1

Frankel1981 Posted 19 August 2025 Author Posted 19 August 2025 I’ll book few rows back in future just booked front row at Oxford though hey ho.

They won’t swap because to their left is Betty who she shares her packed lunch with and has sat next to her at every away game since Frank Worthington played. And on her right will be Ethel who shares the blanket and the filbert fox teddy.

Popular Post Weller Wing Posted 19 August 2025 Popular Post Posted 19 August 2025 (edited) Started going properly in the mid to late 80's and loved it with the inflatable bananas etc and pretty much went everywhere. Even though the team was pretty bad, our fans made many of the occasions very enjoyable. If football was then, how it is now, I'd have probably done something else as its turned pretty crap imo. I do seem to remember quite a few aways where there was terracing and limited seating. So the terracing was liked minded people, mostly young men and mad looking middle aged ones 😄 who got songs going ,and the older fans sat in the seats. Now everyone is in the same block and people want different things at the game which can cause problems. Edited 19 August 2025 by Weller Wing 5

But the other issue we've got now is as I've said above, the whole club is toxic, half the squad doesn't want to be here, owner doesn't care, DoF is useless, players openly taking the piss, so away ends will likely be poor regardless of who is in them. I do agree but we’ve never had great away ends to be honest. It’s very much on occasion when it’s genuinely good. 2
Dan Posted 19 August 2025 Posted 19 August 2025 Away games should just obviously all be standing. We got better for this in recent years but shit if it's turning back to how it was.

Have you ever tried travelling by train with a wheelchair? What a ****ing stupid comment, I'd expect better from a 12 year old. 3 hours ago, Block P said: Understand all the comments about people needing to sit down because they’re old or like to sit quietly and pay their money etc etc. However, part of football is about bragging rights. What's Dr Mengele doing at the weekends? 2
OnlyOneCity Posted 19 August 2025 Posted 19 August 2025 It’s funny how older people attending matches are deemed to be only going for the day out with their pals and not bothered about the game, but then we get a post saying it’s about mocking the opposition fans. Do you not bother with actual match or just how much abuse you can give the home fans. Let fans support them in their own way and stop bullying old fans. Like previously said, ageism seems to be allowed but other prejudices quite rightly, are not. 1

Traveling by train has the be the most convenient form of transport for those wheelchair bound, not that that has anything to do with my comment.

Yes I seem to remember the baby squad often went in the seats and kicked off when we were inevitably losing. It used to often be an open terrace and then limited seating at the side e.g great places like Oxford, Pompey, Cambridge etc They were the best days of following us there is no doubt. 2

Paninistickers Posted 19 August 2025 Posted 19 August 2025 It's nothing to do with age. It's attitude. The front row brigade go for a day out. The results, the process, the direction of the club is almost totally irrelevant. It's about the sandwiches, a good ol' natter and a bus ride. It's not new. Cliff's brigade have always been like that. Difference is there's 400-500 of them now permanently hoovering up the tickets on autopilot (as opposed to 60 or 70 at Cliff's physical peak back in the day) 1

You've clearly never read the horror stories of those in wheelchairs not being able to get to the toilets or being left stranded on the train. Wheelchairs aren't cheap, there's a very limited number of wheelchair places at grounds, someone who can generally stand for 60 minutes plus wouldn't want to be in one but as long as you're ok they can all just **** off and deal with all of that.
