Certainly not against him until the end of the season, and if he does well then he's earned the right to keep it into next season for me whilst we rebuild.

As a kid I liked him for us as a player, and he's always come across very well in punditry too.

Whilst managing Birmingham one of my mates who supports them would have had you believe he was God.

But as others have commented, this really does further demonstrate how far we have fallen.

Dyche has had 1 successful job. And it was a job in which he had time to build.

Since then he's stunk out Everton and Forest and been sacked before he'd have taken them down.

Might be a decent shout in the summer to start a rebuild. Not sure he's the nailed on guy to get us out of a relegation scrap.

Rowett has done ok coming in and sorting others shit out hasn't he?

NO NO NO

Under no circumstance should he be allowed to remain as manager in the summer.

Hate to tell you but we are nearer league one than the premier league, it’s like saying Parker would be no good. It’s kinda irrelevant how they have failed in the top flight because we are miles away from that level

I don't envy him for his first 4 or 5 games to face up to lol

Stoke away

Boro away

Norwich home

Ipswich away

Bristol City home

This will be the biggest issue. He could have just had 4 relatively kind fixtures to settle in but he’s now got 5 difficult ones.

Any opportunity to build morale and confidence based on some early wins is now much more unlikely.

He will need to get the defence organised sharpish. That’s much easier in an Oxford team built to be the minnows defending for their lives rather than a Leicester team built to hold possession.

Don't mind as an interim, but it stinks of Dean Smith where we've wasted time in appointing him. I'd also be hopeful we'd considering longer term options in the summer regardless of how well he does.

If we are doing well there is no way that I want these clowns searching for another manager.

What about if he gets on a decent run and we finish a lot higher than 19th-21st?

Just a few thoughts from looking at his wikipedia....

He came in to try and save Birmingham with 8 games to go in 23/24. That's his most similar post to this. He got 11 points from 24 (3 wins, 2 draws). All the wins were with a clean sheet, and one of the draws were 0-0. Thats 4 clean sheets from 8 - not bad. They hadn't had one in 7 games before that (+19 for LCFC). One of the 3 losses was away to us (eventual champions that year), also all losses were only by the odd goal.

That same points per game ratio would get us around 19 points. Total of 51 points. The team 4th from bottom in the last 10 seasons have achieved 49, 51, 49, 41, 44, 49, 44, 43, 51, 49. That would suggest 51 should  be enough.

Looking through the Birmingham squad they did have Stansfield on loan from Fulham so a proper striker, which we don't have. Both teams of course had Jordan James however we haven't at the moment. Generally though I'd say we have a better squad. The run ins look pretty similar, I think Leicester's is slightly harder but we've done better against the sides at the top so far, Boro (draw), Cov (draw / 2-1 loss), ipswich (beat 3-1) so that may be in our favour.

He kept Oxford up last years, but was sacked with them in 22nd this year. Let's see...

I wonder if Callum Davidson will also be coming back. Just lost his job as Assistant Manager at Ross County. Of course, he was with us when Rowett was here.

In previous clubs Rowett has made Davidson specialist Defensive Coach - I think we need one!

Will require a cast iron guarantee that Dennis Wise won't punch him in his sleep.

We have done it again. Spent all night buying drinks and dancing with one woman, then the lights have come on and she has seen us for what we are and we are going home with the first one to fall out the kebab shop.

Fond memories of my teenage years just came flooding back.

Before I send a DM were you the one buying drinks or falling out the kebab house?

This interview is really interesting. Around 18 mins he is talking about taking over at Birmingham and the club being on the floor. Fans all down, players on the floor and them having just lost 8-0. It will be interesting to see what he thinks of our players when he meets them!!
