tbf, probably where Everton are. I could absolutely be convinced that a mobilised fanbase not blindly clapping would have pressured the board to sack Rodgers early enough to save our bacon in 22/23

Exactly this. For years and years the fans have been an afterthought of this ownership because of how the vast majority deified it.

If maybe we were quicker to hold them to some sort of standards we wouldnt be in half as much trouble as we are in now.

Out of interest, where do you think the club would be if every fan were like you?

I can’t answer this better than @The Doctor did

It’s a good thing to be able say you stand up and did your bit though isn’t it? To say you were on the right side of history etc etc

ain't it funny how we've laid down and accepted such a disastrous downfall of our club and now we want to set any set of standards were being told its more harmful than good - I always wish we had a backbone like Norwich fans did last November when we beat them at carrow road so they protested on mass outside the reception because they'd dipped into the relegation zone - when we actually got relegated we clapped and applauded the players who had told our fans to **** off

Apart from the odd wum/idiot/prankster nobody would call for Martin to be sacked at this point.

I think (based on his career thus far allied with our incompetent owner/CFO) he will be a failure but it's inevitable he will get at least 10/12 games.

The hope is that by then we have a new owner lined up and we can look forward to a total reset.

The problem is nobody wanted him, he's a terrible choice of manager. He's damaged goods from his time at Rangers.

We all know he will be given to January 2027 as a minimum. As fans we're in a dilemma, we need him to succeed for the sake of the clubs future, but we can't stand his football or the bloke.

Its going to be a turbulent season, plenty of defensive mistakes, goals conceded from suicidal passes, selections we hate, listening to the shit he talks in post match interviews.

We can only look forward until the day King Power sell up and we can return to some form of normality.

Right side of history and did your bit 😂

You probably wrote Brendan Out on a bed sheet, didn't stand on the front line.

Listen, I wanted the same as you on all these issues but to think that if we had protested more would have made any difference or other fans are to blame is honestly delusional.

The fans couldn't have been more toxic last season and we've ended up even lower, so I don't think playing hypotheticals or thinking it's everyone's fault but your own is helping anything.

a huge part of the toxicity was King Power supporters getting Aggy with anyone who suggested that what we were seeing on and off the pitch wasn't good enough. Frankly there wasn't enough criticism directed to players, coaches and board, because chunks of the fanbase were too busy trying to hold the fans to account for "not backing the club".

genuinely why my first act if I were club owner would be to use CCTV to identify everyone who cheered Winks v Hull/Millwall and issue life time bans

What?😂

the main driver of this toxicity is the divide amongst the fanbase and the lack of willingness to have a proper discussion about it - almost every away game if not all I went to last season I saw arguments or scuffles/scraps between Leicester fans over differing views over the ownership/board and the players/manager performances and every instance that I personally saw it was king power supporters instigating it

we all know union fs get the dogs abuse week in week out and have been subject to violence just for trying to create any form of atmosphere in our morgue of a bowl and voicing their opinions on the board which many also share

im yet to see any king power supporter provide a valid reason or any legitimate justification for why king power should stay or why they should consistently act with so much aggression and violence towards their fellow fans so consistently

If the young lads have an ounce of common sense they’ll know any boos aren’t meant for them.

Ultimately, is it the players' fault for not being good enough though?

Our recruitment team scouts them*, the DoF signs them with the chairman's money. The manager selects them, the coaches are coaching them. Assuming the players are well-meaning people in general, then they are trying to do their best in the given circumstances. Some might not be up to it, but I'm not sure booing them improves confidence or performance levels.
Booing and protests could absolutely be aimed at the leadership who are responsible for the failed strategies, player transfers, managerial hires etc.

And the recruitment over the last four years miraculously better?

I don’t think people would be happy with Everton mid-table nothingness for four seasons without what’s actually happened to us. There’d be calls to be in Europe and need more ambition etc if we were stranded in mid-table. All hypothetical though.

I did a darn sight more than most in being vocal about Rodgers from early on. I’m not sure how many bans I was given on herewhen I was merely retaliating to the stick I was given for wanting him gone.

We could’ve had him out and a very large portion of what’s happened since wouldn’t have happened

You laugh but Cliff Ginetta sat in front of the club and with a straight face said people that bood should be banned.

Both embarrassing statements.

You can’t ban people for expressing their annoyance or for supporting their team, it’s all part of football.

And yet I'm prevented from bringing a turd in a box into the stadium to present the catering staff with.

Typical woke agenda.

much as I said genuinely, everything I say passes through like 5 levels of irony. a more serious statement would be that the toxicity in the fanbase is not those booing last season's shit show, it's not even those booing and calling for Martin to go already (while yes, it is objectively too soon and creates optics issues for the club if we do sack him which will make it harder to find any manager who isn't desperate, there are clear flaws already with Martin). From a booing perspective we're incredibly mild tbh, I cannot think of another football club where this level of decline would have been met with nothing more than two marches of ~100 people. No, the problem with the fanbase is the toxic positivity lot who have already proven they will attack fans for not cheering utter crap - a fanbase who are pissed off with the board, the manager, the performances, that's united and it's easy to fix with a change. when a portion of the fanbase are determined to shut down very valid criticisms (this has been the most preventable and drastic collapse of a side in football) and are more focused on holding random fans to account than the board, you're on a hiding to nothing, that can't be fixed.

To me, I see it much like politics, both extremes are unhealthy.

I want the owners gone, but I don’t think it should be taken out on the players. You can support the team on the pitch and still want the owners to move on. A positive season this year with promotion should make it easier for the owners to sell the club and the players need the fans behind them to win games and get promoted.

Those of us who saw the downfall early under Rodgers and tried to get ahead of it have unfortunately been vindicated 100x over since.

Anyone who is genuinely blaming Martin for the mess we are in needs to get in the bin.  You’re very short sighted if you think the problem is him and isn’t higher up. I don’t think any manager in the country would be able to build a successful side with the turmoil we are in.

He’s having just about every player with half a heart beat being sold and players no one else wants  being given to him as replacements. I didn’t want him and I don’t really like his style, but if he was at least backed and given the money to get a few players in he would want, he’d be able to get some players who could get some results. He’s also inherited a lot of deadwood.

I've not seen anyone blaming him for the mess that we're in? That is undoubtedly the result of years of incompetence and negligence from the boardroom level of the club.

Any criticism thrown at Martin has frankly been justified largely from what i've seen and myself put out there. Yes he's had an incredibly hard hand dealt to him but his choice to battle that is to carry on with the same style of play that we don't have the players to compete with is absolutely braindead. If he was a good manager he'd show some pragmatism and adapt the style, but as we know from the years he's been managing he simply won't do that. He's on a hiding to nothing really, even if he wins the next 5 or 6 depending on performances we'll be waiting to give him stick. But ultimately we all know that this will end in tears, it was an awful match from the start and instead of paying a proper managers release clause we've chosen the most obvious out of work, desperate choice

So far compared to recent managers Martin has been backed, we brought in a few players that actually cost money for the first time in a while (Cullen, Bristic, Burns). I do think there is a general problem today in that people all seem to have limited patience, you cant expect to have the turnover of players we have and get instant success, its going to take a number of games before players are fully bedded in. I think judging after 1 game is silly, if we are still the same after 10 then yes I will be concerned.

but the fans are behind the team during the games... the booing consistently starts at full time after yet another below par performance. This "oh get behind the team" stuff is utter nonsense. People weren't booing Marti and Rowett or the players last season during games, they won't be booing Martin or the players during the game this season: voicing displeasure with what we've seen after a game is absolutely fine, and the people moaning about booing are against that, there's no room for criticism, everything is perfect even as we plummet down the divisions with players who think they're too good to wear the shirt and who insult us week after week phoning it in.
