Sad that the only song I know with Kanga in it was performed by a disgraced antipodean children's entertainer of yore.

"How should we announce this one?"

"Maybe just give him this massive blue flag I've found?"

"It hasn't even got the club logo on it?"

"Yeah, but it's sort of blue isn't it?"

"Yeah, that'll do"

Tbh doesn't look like that much thought went into it.

Looks more like Rudkin got some new curtains, got the big 6'6 new signing in to do it for him and took a picture mid job.

Finnish acquaintance of mine saying his surname literally means fabric pennisula... appropriate given the rest of this defence has you touching cloth for the entire match

How the hell can he say that? He's played in a league comparable to non -league possibly L2.

We have multiple players who have played lots of games in the actual Premier League and not been good enough for us at championship or league 1.

The only thing that matters is how good they are at football, not how many games they've had at certain levels.

"Leicester City have signed little-known 19-year-old centre-back Ilari Kangasniemi from FC Inter Turku. Despite his relative obscurity, t €2.5 million, this transfer sets a new record for domestic Finnish football and comes after just 14 games and 1,200 minutes played in the Veikkausliiga following his return from the Internazionale academy last year. The Finn is an unmissable centre-back prospect. Stood at 6'6" tall, his attributes and abilities belie his hulking size: he has the speed and footwork to defend space and control wide areas; he likes to step in and drive through midfield when he isn't wrapping passes into higher lines; and he does the big boy basics too, using his body to disrupt in contact and getting up to win headers."

Make of this what you will

My entry for the most boring/anorak reply of the year...

While your mate is right about "kangas" also meaning fabric, in Ilari's name it means a certain type of forest (a pine forest with moss on the ground). Hence the attached word "niemi", which means peninsula. So in short, his name means "the peninsula with a 'kangas' forest on it". There's also a place called "Kangasniemi" too.

I'll get my coat.
