Russell Martin has hinted at changes for Tuesday’s Jersey Mike's Trophy clash with Fulham Under-21s but is demanding a strong performance following Saturday’s draw.
Due to the upcoming international schedule, City will be without up to 10 players for this fixture, our opening group stage match, which is a 7pm BST kick-off at King Power Stadium, with tickets available.
Looking to put a frustrating 1-1 draw at Barnsley behind us, which saw Leicester surrender the lead in the second half, we took a point from the Sky Bet League One clash, despite the hosts being reduced to 10 men.
With a fresh focus, the requirement to be more clinical and ruthless is clear as Martin aims to begin this competition on a strong footing.

“We had such an amazing opportunity to have back-to-back wins and build some nice momentum and energy before the break. It would have made everyone feel a bit better and energised people, but we haven’t done it.
“Now we have to make sure we’re really ready to build momentum. With the way the [Barnsley] game has gone, it’s a missed opportunity for everyone – the players, us, the fans, to feel good going into the break.
“There will be many more opportunities to take and we have to make sure that we take them in a better way. We should put the game to bed. The one mistake cost us, but we should still win the game and [there was a] lack of decisive action in the box.
“That’s football sometimes. All the players are disappointed.”

Jayden Joseph missed the weekend’s draw due to injury and we’ll remain without the Academy graduate for the Cottagers’ visit. His replacement, Olabade Aluko, was substituted at half-time at Oakwell.
The 40-year-old continued: “Jayden [Joseph], we thought he’d be okay but then (on Friday) he was still sore, so he’s going to be out for a few weeks with his hamstring.
“He (Aluko) had a knock on his shoulder, he was carrying it a bit awkwardly, but also he got booked and was playing against their biggest threat and we had Couli (Woyo Coulibaly) on the bench and ready.
“With those two situations, we felt the change was right. His shoulder is very stiff at the minute, so we’ll have to wait and see.
“It will be a really strong team. We have a lot of guys away, so there will be some changes, but we have a lot of guys who have to live the moments better than today on the pitch.
“We’ll have to debrief and see how everyone feels, but it’s not a game we’re going to take lightly, that’s for sure.”

As an aside, Fulham U21's appointed Charlie Daniels as their head coach last night (ex Bournemouth)

 

He replaced Hayden Mullins who went to Newport to replace Fuchs.
