Gené and Tonic Posted 7 January 2006 Posted 7 January 2006 Leeds are stll paying Fowler royalties, I doubt whether he'd go there.
Leicfox Posted 7 January 2006 Posted 7 January 2006 After the impact he made in todays game when coming on, a loan move for Pongolle must be out if the question. ?
Gené and Tonic Posted 7 January 2006 Posted 7 January 2006 I've always rated Pongolle, whenever he plays for them he seems to score. I still stand by my opinion that he should be a regular starter for them and today proved it. No chance of a loan move mate.
fox123 Posted 7 January 2006 Posted 7 January 2006 He will go to Preston now I bet... Levein aint got a clue, he's brought a striker from the Premiership (Elvis), League One (Humey) and the Scottish Premiership ( De Vries) all have failed to deliver, i wont get excited about any signing Levein makes until he starts doing the Business. There's decent Strikers that ARE proven, i.e. Jansen & Earnshaw, both relitively young yet were linked with a league one youth that isnt proven at championship level

There's decent Strikers that ARE proven, i.e. Jansen & Earnshaw, both relitively young yet were linked with a league one youth that isnt proven at championship level im sorry but jansen is hardly proven, he has not played well since his crash and it would be a risk, also bolton and 2 other premiership sides seem to be looking at him, you have to remember we are a championship club that is underperforming so signing players is aalot more difficult, as for earnshaw, theres no way we could afford him, WBA dont want to sell him and he would not come to leicester you have to be realistic
fox_in_norwich Posted 7 January 2006 Posted 7 January 2006 i have a feeling this deal will collapse because of the interest shown by Preston, then we will be stuck with another reject from Scotland, althought Fryatt is still unproven at this level. Therefore if he does come it will not be certain he will bang the goals in for us.

Also earnshaw is wanted by WBA, they dont want to let him go so i doubt they would loan him out. dont dismiss this player untill we have first of all actually signed him and then see what hes like for us, he certainly seems to score and has so much potential.
Fox in a Box Posted 7 January 2006 Posted 7 January 2006 OIK, I mentioned moons ago.. Months and Months ago that LCFC had been watching him, along with Villa and WBA. Matty has a good pedigree at League1 level, IF and I mean IF we get him then He should be a welcome addition to the squad. Do your sums.... SWeds---- 200K for Gilbert, (as we paid around that for him) Barnsley ---50K for wrighty 250K returns.... ok well 250- 350K doesnt seem to bad a return then. If he starts us scoring and makes us move out of trouble he will be worth every penny!

It seems to be a good signing and if we dont get him now someone else will sign him.

Everywhere it says the fee was undisclosed, so it would be more likely that Sheff Weds paid a lot less than that.
Gené and Tonic Posted 7 January 2006 Posted 7 January 2006 Why is everyone suddenly pessimistic about him coming? The Walsall fan who has come on here has already stated that a local move would suit him. And for those who say it is not such a good deal, 250k plus add-ons is a great price for a player who has been capped for England under 19's, been voted 2nd in League 1 player of the year, and scored 28 in one and a half seasons.

Chimp Posted 7 January 2006 Posted 7 January 2006 MATT FRYATT WILL COME TO LEICESTER CITY AND I WILL BE PROUD TO SUPPORT HIM IN A BLUE SHIRT !!! Yeah, well, of course, we'll all be proud to support him when he pulls on the City shirt, just don't start thinking it's a done deal. Until he signs on the dotted line anything could happen.

davieG Posted 7 January 2006 Posted 7 January 2006 if's are no good! So we should forget your suggestions of "if "we could get Jansen "if" we could get Earnshaw, every thing is an if, this no different, besides how do you know he isn't after someone else? "If" only we knew there'd be a lot less "if's" posted on here.
London_Fox Posted 7 January 2006 Posted 7 January 2006 Guess being a city fan has made us all very cynical...i'm quietly confident about this one not falling through like some of the others (although having posted it here not so quietly anymore... )
Jonbluefox9 Posted 7 January 2006 Posted 7 January 2006 Where do you get that figure from? Everywhere it says the fee was undisclosed, so it would be more likely that Sheff Weds paid a lot less than that. He got that figure from the same place you got the view that it's more likely that Sheffield Wednesday paid a lot less than £200K just because it has been undisclosed. I've stated in another thread why it may have been undisclosed. Undisclosed does not necessarily mean we lost money on him. It means the fee will not be disclosed to the public.

That's almost certainly true...the question is why don't they disclose information like that to the public. In all seriousness there are a few possiblities: 1) Either party has something to hide from the fans 2) We don't want to let on how much money we might have for other targets 3) They don't want to let on how much money they still have available 4) Not to put pressure on the player from fans 5) It's a complicated fee and either party is worried it will look worse on paper and fans will react badly
