Teeno Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 Pathetic vote. I don't think this has anything to do with going without a fag for a period of time, but smoking at football is part and parcel. Thta vote was all non smokers voting first option and smokers the other one. Nothing to do with wether they care or not. Because of the f***ing moaning culture around we're being treated like retards and are being denied a right to enjoyment. Thanks people myself and a lot of other peoples enjoyment at football will be less because of this, whereas it won't effect all you lot at all. So f***ing what you get a bit of smoke on your clothes, wash them when you get home!

Teeno Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 Ever heard of passive smoking? Yes. A lot of people over exagerate passive smoking though, it isn't that bad, especially in the outdoors like a football. People have the choice to move if someone starts to smoke, and with a partial ban we have the choice to smoke in certain areas. But with a total ban with have absoloutly no choice at all.
john_lcfc Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 to be honest it was always going to be a total ban.. more people dont smoke so will/did vote for a ban.. its a bit unecessary though i mean i dont smoke but for smokers its part of the day and they will miss avin a fag but for non smokers does it really bother you that much? the only plus about the vote was the red paper aeroplanes
Knighton Matt Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 Yes. A lot of people over exagerate passive smoking though, it isn't that bad, especially in the outdoors like a football. People have the choice to move if someone starts to smoke, and with a partial ban we have the choice to smoke in certain areas. But with a total ban with have absoloutly no choice at all. A lot of the dangers are still unknown...I do feel for the smokers and to be honest it doesn't bother me that much as a few of my mates smoke so I always tend to stink of the stuff anyway. Could be the perfect excuse to give up though mate?
Milky Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 Thanks people myself and a lot of other peoples enjoyment at football will be less because of this, is it really that bad! you must be in pretty deep. it's a sorry state of affairs if you need to have a fag in order to really enjoy a football match. To be fair, i enjoy a matchday experiance a little less if i have someone in front of me pumping smoke into my face. you never know, it may help you to give up those things before it's too late.
C-man Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 All the smokers would be queuing for their beer, like proper fans... I thought that too, i thought it was an unfair vote. I do not smoke, and don't like it when people smoke near me, however i do not mind the current system, as the smoke gives the stadium some kind of atmosphere! I enjoy smelling the mixture of Balti pies and cigarette smoke when i pass through the turnstyle - its just something i'm used to at football matches. Its gonna be strange next season!
modfox Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 I agree with banning smoking in the seating areas but surely the club could accomodate us smokers by having designated smoking areas in the concourse, or opening the exits at half time. Looks like the great tradition of having a pint and a fag at half time is gonna fall by the wayside.

I dont need to smoke to have fun but if I can't smoke all game I'll be like hurry the fock up i need a fafg.
john_lcfc Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 WHAT IS GOING on with football? you cant stand, smoke and at most away grounds you cant buy alcohol? how are they going to enforce this current smoking policy with around 6,000 smokers at the ground i would guess?
Milky Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 I dont need to smoke to have fun but if I can't smoke all game I'll be like hurry the fock up i need a fafg. you must really love smoking. have you ever thought about giving up? is this ban actually going to stop people going to the games?

Thing is tho mate smokiing is banned in the concourse but where do we go during the game if we're gaging for a fag? What do most people do when having their half time pint? No worries we'll abuse the law.
Teeno Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 you must really love smoking. have you ever thought about giving up? is this ban actually going to stop people going to the games? I often think about giving up, but it's something I enjoy doing, and is almost 2nd nature to me now. The new laws wont stop me it will just piss me of that i'll be treated like a disease, and I'll be determined to break them and show the government they can't treat us like kids.

Teeno Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 Heres a quote of another forum great poit made I know I'm perseverating. Forgive me. But I'd like to point out, yet again, that everyone today missed the point, totally.I walked to the match behind a gang coming out of The Victory. They couldn't walk straight. They got to the ground and bought more alcohol. I walked from the match behind a gang of Leeds fans with tinnies. They were out of their skulls. Today, you voted no smoking at the Walkers. Smoking doesn't kill anyone who doesn't smoke. As a medical researcher I know this to be true, despite the spin. I also know that alcohol is the biggest drug issue in the UK. It kills millions, each year, primarily (like George Best and Brian Clough) and secondarily (like countless unnamed victims of road traffic accidents, domestic violence, and murder). It is the drug of choice of rapists, those who father and mother unwanted children, and those who neglect their families. It's freely available at the Walkers stadium for anyone who wants to get high and violent, and no one votes it out. Why not? Maybe, just maybe, one of these days people will sort out what's right and what's wrong. 'Oh dear, someone's blowing smoke in my face' isn't actually important when someone's getting out a knife and trying to kill someone. 90% of Brits drink, many to excess. 30% of Brits smoke, and that hurts who, exactly?........ I pray for the victims of this latest alcohol-fuelled violence. Call me when there's an example of nicotine-induced violence, and I'll be all too happy to vote smoking out of our stadium. Until then, live with the reality - alcohol is the biggest primary/secondary killer of all time. No football stadium should sell alcohol. It's just something that missed out on the hit list of dangerous substances - and so it's, like, OK? Booze kills. Where's the government warnings? Where's the stadium vote?
Knighton Matt Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 Aside from the alcohol issues has he never heard of Roy Castle? Medical researcher my foot what a stupid ****!
Milky Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 Heres a quote of another forum great poit made That still doesn't mean that banning smoking is wrong. do people actually get pissed just on the alcohol sold at the ground alone? i would suggest that if people are going to get wasted that would have done so prior to the game. what are you supposed to do about it? banning drinking in the ground will just mean that people drink beforehand won't it?
Bert Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 If people want to smoke, then let them. We're all going to die one day anyway!! (sorry if that is harsh, but it's true guys.) I'm a non smoker and i must say the smoke doesn't really bother me, 'cos wherever you go nowadays there's always bound to be someone that is smoking around you.
Katy Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 Aside from the alcohol issues has he never heard of Roy Castle? Medical researcher my foot what a stupid ****! Precisely! Smoking is a filthy, disgusting, dangerous habit!!! Im glad most of the Walkers on Saturday decided to irradicate it. The rights of a smoker are different yto those of a non smoker, smokers are smoking by choice non smokers arent. Passive smoking is more dangerous in a way than smoking due to the smoke being unfiltered!
AyewJoking Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 All those smokers who are upset with the ban, suck on a lollipop instead.
anotherwin Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 All those smokers who are upset with the ban, suck on a lollipop instead. That's bad for your teeth!
Katy Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 All those smokers who are upset with the ban, suck on a lollipop instead. Or chew on Nicorette or whatever its called.
Teeno Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 They need to make a nictone free cigareete, or a fag that isn't harmfull, still everyone would stil moan, "its makes my clothes smell blah blah blah"
Katy Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 They need to make a nictone free cigareete, or a fag that isn't harmfull, still everyone would stil moan, "its makes my clothes smell blah blah blah" Not if they made one that didnt smell either
Teeno Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 Not if they made one that didnt smell either Hows about a non smelling, healthy, clean fag?
