Leicester Lass Posted 18 February 2006 Posted 18 February 2006 What about Ricky Muggleton, is he any good?

Hope no big club come in for him, as i have heard he's being watched by several top clubs at the moment..... If they're watching Chambers they'd have rocks for brains if their first priorities weren't Stears and Weso. Both can cut it very easily in this League whereas Chambers is far from tested. He hasn't of late stamped an authority in Reserves lately. Even more tempting for people poaching our young ones is Weso has only 1 contracted year with us. I think that needs sorting out asap. Whereas the other 2 are now contracted for much longer.
Thracian Posted 18 February 2006 Posted 18 February 2006 He's still too young for a pro contract as far as I'm aware. He had a goal disallowed before being substituted at half-time at the last reserves game and he is a quality finisher, reminds me a bit of Allan Clarke the ex-Leicester, Leeds and England striker in his style in that he seems to lurk around the danger area looking fairly harmless then suddenly he pounces and grabs a goal. Eric Odhiambo is looking promising too. He had a slowish introduction, little cameos within matches but now seems to be getting a real chance to show his ability and he's started finding the net.
Benji Posted 18 February 2006 Posted 18 February 2006 What about Ricky Muggleton, is he any good? Pretty awsome, him and dodds
Bert Posted 18 February 2006 Posted 18 February 2006 Chambo came off the bench and scored the winner for the under 18's today. Link
Jonbluefox9 Posted 18 February 2006 Posted 18 February 2006 Pretty awsome, him and dodds I don't rate Muggleton personally. I do think Dodds has bags of potential though. Of course different players progress at different times but at the moment I'd say Dodds is a much better player than Muggleton judging by what I've seen of the pair.

AyewJoking Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 Gotta question the logic of playing Chambers in that Blackpool game. Maybe we were short of strikers, maybe we needed a fresh face but it will have alerted other clubs that there is a promising youngster at Leicester, if they didnt already know about him. Am I wrong or has Chambers been anywhere near our first team squad since?
mat_j101 Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 No i dont think he has been in the team since then. Also, does anyone know what kind of a player Levi Porter is?? I read somewhere we had given him a new contract the other week. Am i right in thinking he's a right winger??? Any good???
Thracian Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 Chambers hasn't been seen a lot because he was injured leading up to the FA Youth Cup defeat before Christmas and has been used fairly sparingly since. First team wise the position has changed too with the emergence of Hume and return of O'Grady so he would be further down the order anyway although I would personally see him as a greater strike threat than Hammond. Levi Porter is a right winger who has been used in midfield on occasions recently. He's tricky on the ball and packs a decent shot. He's also a popular lad among the squad but will probably have to make an impact in the next few months if he is going to break through at Leicester.

Am I wrong or has Chambers been anywhere near our first team squad since? The logic seems to be 'here's a lad who can break a record, for youngest City player in the first team. Let's give him a 5 minute run out' Short of strikers? We had De Vries and Hammond playing, and the substitution was made near the very end of the second half with no injuries and a 2-1 lead - I think it was just a bit of fun really, give the lad a chance to play with the first team for 5 minutes and break that record
Stevosevic Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 to be honest i dont think he will break onto the scene next year. 2008 will be his time
Thracian Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 to be honest i dont think he will break onto the scene next year. 2008 will be his time You may be right but if I were a defender there are a lot of Championship forwards I would sooner face than Chambers even now. He is very difficult to mark and every bit as natural a predator as Matty Fryatt. It is worth remembering that a lot of Matty's goals were penalties...not that penalties are any less valuable than any other goal.
thanks4nothinglevein Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 I used to play wiv ash at leicester from 9's to 15's Hes quality better than any at his age and some older!
ithuriel Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 im just pleased the academys doing what its supposed to.
Thracian Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 There really seems to be a good comeraderie between the younger players too and someone suggested to me on Saturday that one of the reasons people like Stearman and Wesolowski have found it so easy to settle in the first team was this fact coupled with the point that they are quickly introduced to first team surroundings and made to feel a part of the set up.
Tommeh Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 I played with Chambo at Quorn when we were 12 and he was awesome
Milky Posted 19 February 2006 Posted 19 February 2006 Giving chambers that 5 mins against blackpool was just a publicity stunt by levein. it was to say, look, i've got some good youngsters so give me time, and was just a general attempt to get some positive publicity.

Actually, if all of the other strikers at the club were available then Chambers wouldn't have been picked. It wasn't a publicity stunt 'cos Levein said the plan was to give him 20 minutes, but because of the situaton the game was at he didn't want to risk losing the game. If it was a publiciity stunt Chambers would've been given the 20 minutes.

I read on the FA website that he's in the squad that travelled to Belgium for a friendly. I just want to add that if the club wants to hang on to some of its best youngsters e.g. Stearman, Wesolowksi, Chambers, etc it is important to try and clinch promotion because after a point the player will want to play at the highest level possible.
