Without sounding stupid what is -1 handicap when betting on football?

Whatever the score is you minus 1 off the team with the handicap. So basically for me to win, all 3 teams have to win by 2 clear goals

Went into Betfred today and won on the Roulette (for once!).. So put some of it on goals galore for League One and League Two fixtures;

Yeovil v Bournemouth
