Away day experiences

Recommended Posts

we all have had some sort of weird or funny away day experience so fess up

ill start.

on the way down to cardiff last season we hired a minibus to take us to ninian park we were toddling along merrily havin a few bevvies then just as we entred cardiff the old bill stopped us searched the van found nothing and said ok lads you here for the footy the driver said yes then the copper said no you aint and turned us away from the ground.

wondering why we were not allowed to go to the footy i asked the copper for his reasons for turning us away

he said they had intellegence that suggested several BS members were planning a ruck with the cardiff soul crew.

we argued that we had nothing to do with the BS and were just here for the footy he didnt believe us and called for back up upon doing this about 3 riot vans turned up brimming with police in riot gear. Having a few lagers in me by this time i got a bit lairy and started to shout at the police for ruining our day out.

then as we were getting out of the minibus about 30 blokes got out of a coach and started throwing stones and bottles at the police and chanting BS forever thinking better of this we managed to get away from the police and entred a pub which was packed with leicester fans thinking we were safe the fans in the pub saw what was going on outside and rushed out to see better.

By this time about 70 police and 4 police on horseback had blocked the road off to traffic the fans that were in the pub came out and started chanting come on leicester come on leicester putting there thumbs up to the lads on the other side of the road.

we were glad to get out of there in one piece and i am buggred if i am ever goin cardiff again

I'd say thats more worrying than funny...

Funny away day experiences = Saturday March 18th 2006

Riot Police Escort 1500 jubilant city fans down a 1 mile enclosed alleyway to an inconspicuos station where 5 Millwall fans stand and shout abuse as we all walk past. No one pays any attention whatsoever.

The Kisnorbo song. Probs wont happen ever again but it was very funny

The songs shoutes at the guy in red - enough variations to fill a tribute CD including -

'Down with your handbag, you're going down with your handbag'

'Boy or a girl, are you a boy or a girl'

'You're not fit to wear the shirt'

''Who's your boyfriend in the black'

And many others that I cant type at work

= COMEDY

Saturday was a bit of an experience. Me and my mate had a St.Patrick's day green hat with a ginger beard, we were wearing it most of the day. Before the game we were walking around the center of London, and we had it on walking around. I think most people assumed we were going for the rugby because they kept asking us what time it started and various Irish question. Got a great picture of me wearing it with Tower bridge in the background.

We then got to the train station and caught the train to south Bermondsey. It was full of shaven headed middle age working class cockney's, so me and my mate kept ourselves to ourselves and didn't say a word. When getting of the train we turned to go down the visiting supporters path, we were the only two too and received no end of abuse of the other fans who'd got of the train. The game was brilliant and the atmosphere was good. We were having a really great day out and it was topped of when meeting Keith duffy (Boyzone and coronation street) In St Pancras station.

When I went to Hull this season my train to Leicester was delayed so I had around 10 minutes to get to the ground from the station to grab the coach to Hull, I put Linford Christie to shame and arrived at the ground to find our Coach suspension had gone and that we had to wait another half an hour to 45 minutes for a replacement!

Charlton away was quite funny, just a great laugh with the lads I was with going down to the Valley, one of the lads fell asleep on the arm rest in the exact position of a DJ on some decks.

Plenty of incidents when i've got up on my seat, like at Luton and Charlton and fell off it or fell through the back of it and got stuck lol

3rd May 1980 The day we won the league at Leyton Orient.

I was walking down Leyton High Street wearing a Claret and Blue Tootal scarf when some guy came over to me shouting "You West Ham C***" as he stuck one on me!

I was only 16 at the time but luckily the the fella's with me were a few years older and they proceded to give him a good hiding on my behalf.

In hindsight I shouldn't really have been wearing a Claret and Blue scarf in the wrong part of the East End but It was during my Paul Weller is god phase!

Charlton away last season was a good one.

I stayed over at peterborough with Mark who used to post on the OS.

Me, him, his dad (lcfcalan) and his mate made ou way down to the smoke and were in London by 11ish. We'd had a few drinks on the way, and went to the boozer opposite the station of which the name escapes me. Well we continued drinking and the atmosphere was great, it was packed and we had a really good laugh there. Then to the game well that was one of the most enjoyable games I had been to for a while, the atmosphere was amazing and we stoo all game singing our hearts out, and the celebrations with the way we won were unbelieveable.

We'd had a lot to drink throughout the day and there was a lot of Leicester fans there. We got the train back to peterborough but my train back from p'boro to melton was cancelled and the bus replacment that was supposed to be there at 7.15 didn't trun up till 00.30, and by this time there was only 6 of us left. Two got of at Stamford and then the doors wouldn't close so at 1am we had to wait over an hour and a half for a replacment bus to come all the way form London to take us hom meaning I was home about 3.30. But dispite the bad end to the day it will remain as one of my most enjoyable days watching Leicester

Wolves 4-3 Leicester in the Premiership

Me and my mate took the train with 6 cans each :D We then proceeded to go into one of the scream pubs to have a further 6 pints, by this time we both could hardly walk, somehow managing to get through the gates with no problem!!

Then the Leicester goals went flying in and the rest is history... or so i thought. I watched the highlights only to see me and my p!ssed up mate celebrated each goal on the TELLY!!! we looked awful haha

Notts Forest 1-1 Leicester (when Connolly scored last min)

Was p!ssed again, had 15 drinks before the game and had 5 burgers in the first half, teeno, lisa and co saw the state of me!!!

This is all what makes away days so memorable and enjoyable. My best away day was against villa when we dumped them out of the cup... I'm not going to say too much but it was one of the best days of my life i had a right laugh there and back no the train, the pubs were fantastic, the game was brilliant and some other stuff went on to, for instance this bloke asking my dad for 20p so he could go toilet at birmingham new street, whilst everyone just jumped over the railings.

Another that comes to mind was away at blackpool in the cup replay. Took a mini bus up of mates and had no end to drink. singing at the back of the temporary stand swaying from side to side in the wind and then allmost breaking the stand lol.

Somehow we all ended up topless swinging our shirts above our heads.

Another good one was Crewe away this season, got the train there and was in Crewe for just after 11. We had plenty on the train and then loads in the pub before the game. I fell out of th pub and my mate callapsed in the toilets at the ground but it was such a laugh. sitting 2 rows up with the summer sun pelting down wasn't so fun but we had a right laugh that day.

Anothere was Cardiff away in the cup this season. For this night game we were in Cardff for 2 as my mate drove down. We found a nice little boozer and had a lot to drink. hardly any Leicester fans came in but the locals were great and a lot of them were freindly and had a good chat with us, and Ninian park is the only ground in the league with non seated away ends which was great fun, and of course we won.

Funny how all my memories involve being hammered, says a lot about me lol.

Watford - 1996.

I'm embarrassed to admit it involved copious amounts of alcohol and lary behaviour, and despite the fact I had flashbacks when we next went to Vicarage Road (so much I couldn't remember  ), I remember it being a cracking day out.

The 'Hare Krishna's parade' through the town centre is one of the few things I remember well.

the league cup final replay at hillsborough was one of the best away days/nights of all time!!! nailed a 24 pack of stella between the 5 of us on the way up, designated driver of course not included

the match and result we all know of course. the jubilant walk back to our car was also a joyous occassion but soon darkened when we found that our car had been vandalised, clearly by some disgruntled boro fans!!! The heskey 'never say die' cut out from the mockery should with hindsight not have been left pinned up in the window!!! all 4 side windows had been put in so our journey back to leicester was spent freezing cold, sitting on glass, trying in vain to block the wind coming through the windows with jumpers and coats!!!!

despite the setback we were all still on cloud nine and sang 'we've won the cup, we've won the cup, e i adio we've won the cup' all the way back down the motorway!!! :D

Not bad only being 17 aswell.

If I lived in Leicester I'd would've been plenty more. When I get my car Im aiming to go nearly every away game
