The People's Hero Posted 2 July 2006 Posted 2 July 2006 People don't seem to realise that you can disagree on a forum and still back the team 100% at the match. I've metaphorically booed many a player and the team on a forum but never booed either player or team at a game. You're right... but they're just dullards. Mock them without them knowing... whatever, but certainly don't listen to anything they have to say.
Steven Posted 2 July 2006 Posted 2 July 2006 There are two scenarios to choose from: 1. Give Tiatto our support (even if we think he is poor) for the benefit of leicester. 2. Criticise Tiatto, causing bad feeling, a poor atmosphere and negative affect on the team. True leicester fans will know which one to choose. True Leicester fans would not try to force another to make choices, but rather respect the differences of opinion.
The Stig Posted 2 July 2006 Posted 2 July 2006 OK, in my view new season new start. Rab Douglas, Alan Maybury, Momo Sylla, Danny Tiatto, Mark de Vries, Elvis Hammond, Joe Hammil. All these players last season I was calling crap laying in to but seeing as this is a new season im not gonna be laying in to them or insulting them until ive given them a fair chance THIS YEAR. I for one am getting behind them all. However if after five games they're playing crap then they'll know about it!

harry Posted 3 July 2006 Posted 3 July 2006 Hello, I don't post too often unless I'm sitting at my desk with an unusually huge amount of time to pass, but I always read what you have to say on here. I was disappointed with the Tiatto re-signing as well, and I didn't especially rate him in his first season here although we should remember he was an established top flight and international player for much of his career. My problem is that it's rare for a 34-year-old to cut it even at this level, especially after injuries. However, in some respects it makes perfect sense. RK acknowledges the need for a new left winger - one of his first moves was for a winger and he also stated that he wanted to keep Andy Welsh, so it would seem he hasn't been able to bring in the right sort of player. I'd rather wait than panic buy. Kelly said 'never say never' with regard to new signings, so I suspect we could yet see Welsh arriving, depending on what happens at Sunderland. As far as Tiatto's concerned, Kelly probably wants to settle the squad. Tiatto is a popular figure among players, he's the (ex?) club captain and he was player-of-the-year season before last. Sometimes you need to show loyalty and faith in your players if you want it repaid, and this sends out the right message to his squad. Kelly's still looking towards a long-term replacement and this move indicates that Kelly believes he can get more out of Danny Tiatto than we managed to last season. If we play a more direct game (which would suit a player of Tiatto's limited talents better than the Levein-esque let's play thirty semi-suicidal passes instead of one or two, then get bored and hammer it hopefully at De Vries), if Tiatto stays fit and if Kelly feels we have other viable options for the left side then the new contract makes sense. Remember we'll play fifty plus games this year, so 30 matches may only constitute half of the season, and Kelly didn't say 'thirty STARTS' did he? I suspect Kelly, who CHOSE not to play Tiatto on several occasions last season, will be perfectly prepared to move one of the centre midfielders out wide again or perhaps bring in Porter. Who knows, he might even believe Joe Hammill can make a half decent player with a little confidence and a proper pre-season. One thing's for sure, the left-side problem hasn't been 'solved'. Kelly knows this is a short-term fix and regardless of what he says, if the right player's available when the right amount of money's available, Kelly will make a move. Personally, I expect this situation to have arisen by Christmas - but if Tiatto can give us a few rousing blood-and-thunder performances in the meantime (!) then fair play. Let's give him - and Hammill, while we're at it - a chance. Hope you're not all asleep now!
Ultra Posted 3 July 2006 Posted 3 July 2006 Well said. Shame you couldn't have broken the piece up into paragraphs to make it read easier. Still a lot better than the semi-literate chavs among the anti-Tiatto brigade though..

Micky Posted 3 July 2006 Posted 3 July 2006 True Leicester fans would not try to force another to make choices, but rather respect the differences of opinion. I am not trying to force anyones opinion. I just didn't realise that I was different to some of you guys. I am a supporter of leicester and by supporter i mean literally. I just think that at times some fans are too quick to jump on the back of players. Tiatto had very little continuity last season. He had a bad spell of injuries and some suspensions and found it difficult to find form. I'll certainly be giving him a chance before I pass judgement.

WHO IS LEICESTER CITY - THE PLAYERS WHO GET US THE POINTS, SO SUPPORT THE PLAYERS
LCFC UK Posted 3 July 2006 Posted 3 July 2006 fock you all slating tiatto, about the one decent player we have who wears his heart on his sleeve. This is one of the reasons i have not bothered coming on hear in months because of idiotic threads like this, not that youve missed me! Good Luck!
Daggers Posted 3 July 2006 Posted 3 July 2006 Is a semi literate person someone who stops a book half way through, or one that only gets as far as almost buying one?
Guest Gist Posted 3 July 2006 Posted 3 July 2006 I agree with harry on this Tiatto should be given a chance I think he can still do a good job for us I know he is too hot headed at times but I think that is down to him trying to hard to make an impact on games we were desperate to win at the time.
The People's Hero Posted 3 July 2006 Posted 3 July 2006 He's had loads of chances. Also - I've noticed a lot of people defending him are harping on about his 'good attitude' and the 'steel' he adds to the side. His attitude stinks. He often acts without thinking of the possible effect on the team. Pointless yellows and reds. As for adding steel to the side, he sacrifices any potential shape a team might have because quite frankly I have more positional sense. I don't rate him and I don't think he should have got a new deal. If that makes me a semi-literate chav then there's not much hope for the rest of you...
macbeth Posted 4 July 2006 Posted 4 July 2006 Is a semi literate person someone who stops a book half way through, or one that only gets as far as almost buying one? its neither of these ; semi literacy falls into two main categories; recto and verso and its to do with which side of the brain is dominant; if the right hand side is dominant only the left hand page can be read and vice versa. recto is considered the worse condition as most books end on an odd number on the right hand page and this leaves the sufferer feeling unfulfilled; i hope this clears any confusion.

The fact is that Tiatto has contributed more to this club than at least half of the current squad. If fans can't bring themselves to trust the judgement of our best manager than MON then it doesn't reflect well on them..
Fez of Mahrez Posted 4 July 2006 Posted 4 July 2006 Understatement.. How many bad games should Tiatto have had last season before we'd be allowed to criticise him?
Ric Flair Posted 4 July 2006 Posted 4 July 2006 The fact is that Tiatto has contributed more to this club than at least half of the current squad. If fans can't bring themselves to trust the judgement of our best manager than MON then it doesn't reflect well on them.. How on earth can you say that? Explain to me how he's done that. Last season in every league game he started we didn't win, granted that's not entirely all his fault but it doesn't make good reading. He was decent in his first 3 months at Leicester then from then on he has been erratic, crap and shit.
