Ric Flair Posted 7 July 2006 Share Posted 7 July 2006 Leeds Sunderland Birmingham Southampton Sheffield Wednesday Wolves West Bromwich Albion Leicester Ipswich Derby Crystal Palace Coventry Norwich Cardiff Preston Stoke QPR Hull Plymouth Luton Burnley Southend Barnsley Colchester Your about right there, i'd perhaps put Norwich abit higher maybe swap them with Palace. Edited to say i'd be fairly happy with the final league positioning being something like that. A late run at the play-offs always makes good entertainment. BartonFox Posted 7 July 2006 Share Posted 7 July 2006 Leeds Sunderland Birmingham Southampton Sheffield Wednesday Wolves West Bromwich Albion Leicester Ipswich Derby Crystal Palace Coventry Norwich Cardiff Preston Stoke QPR Hull Plymouth Luton Burnley Southend Barnsley Colchester Are all bigger than us as they can attract decent players to their clubs and spend money, we can't. We are not a big Club, and we are getting smaller, just read what the new Executive Chairman has to say about it.
Ric Flair Posted 7 July 2006 Share Posted 7 July 2006 Are all bigger than us as they can attract decent players to their clubs and spend money, we can't. We are not a big Club, and we are getting smaller, just read what the new Executive Chairman has to say about it. That comes and goes though pal, we spent a fair few quid last season. Cardiff haven't spent anymore money than we have over the past few years, infact they were very close to going under last season. The only way we'll get to be bigger again is to get promoted again and to do that we need money, the only way I can see us getting any is to cash in on one or two of our quality players and then spend it wisely. Whether Rob Kelly can be trusted to do that is another matter. But we have well over £5 million's worth of talent in Stearman, Kisnorbo, Wesolowski, Hume and Fryatt. That's not including McCarthy, Nissa, Gerrbrand, Williams and Hughes who could also fetch a few quid combined.
The People's Hero Posted 7 July 2006 Share Posted 7 July 2006 Barnsley are not second bottom. Should be higher. I'd put us above West Brom - cos I'm a Leicester fan like.
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 7 July 2006 Share Posted 7 July 2006 Why do you have Southampton so high? I'd put them below us. Hull could be massive - good ground, decent crowds, finally got rid of PT.

Southampton - won the FA Cup, long recent stint in the top league, same size ground and possibly even bigger crowds than us if last game of the season if anything to go by. Hull - just potential
The Don Posted 7 July 2006 Share Posted 7 July 2006 It depends on what you mean by size!! Is it fans, history, status etc?? I can't see why Birmingham, West Brom and Sunderland are so high!!

Barnsley fair enough probably bigger than Southend but wouldn't put them a lot higher than that. West Brom - have won the FA Cup five times. Thracian Posted 8 July 2006 Share Posted 8 July 2006 I'd put Sunderland, Leeds, Leicester at joint top for a start... people are forever underestimating the potential of our club and, indeed, of our City. What the football club needs is people at the top with the charisma to lift its profile and its level of ambition once more. We badly need people with attitude, people with clout and people with a totally unyielding belief in our club. Impact people. Visionary people. People who will turn our lights onto full power and make us shine again.

Stevosevic Posted 8 July 2006 Share Posted 8 July 2006 Why? wolves have only had 1 season in the premiership i suppose, recent history is important.
vanfox12 Posted 8 July 2006 Share Posted 8 July 2006 We are bigger than Southampton and Wolves surely? or definetly Wolves anyway. Southampton have had a longer spell in the top flight than Leicester have ever managed and have won the FA Cup. While Wolves have won all 3 domestic trophies including League Cup on two Occassions and have reached the final of the Uefa Cup back in the Seventies. On the other hand Leicester have won the League Cup 3 times, FA Cup Finalists 4 times and Runners up in the Old First Division back in the 1920's. We have also won the old Second Division championship 6 times (Joint Record with Man City). At Tthe end of the day statistics and how big your support is means nothing when your not doing well. The only way to be successful is to have a Dynamic and forward thinking Board and more importantly looking back to the O'Neil years a quality Manager. Which probably explains why all 3 clubs are where they are now, Poor management on and off the pitch.
Manwell Pablo Posted 8 July 2006 Share Posted 8 July 2006 How are we bigger then Birmingham West Brom Wolves Leeds ect. He havent had a sustained period in the premier league for half a decade. In terms of fan base, players and money they have alot more then us, we are on par with the likes of Cov, Derby and Norwhich. Some of us have the blue tinted glasses on again. Thracian Posted 8 July 2006 Share Posted 8 July 2006 Leicester is the 10th City in the UK by population size behind Birmingham, Sheffield and Leeds but Birmingham, of course, serves more clubs and historically I doubt the crowds at St Andrews have been much different to ours generally because even in the Premiership Birmingham only averaged just over 27,000. Leicester's average crowd last season (21691) was comparable to the Championship's biggest average attendance Norwich (24906), despite us flirting with relegation for much of the time and I'm quite sure our average would be at least as high as 24900 if we were at the right end of the table (a point, of course, about the need to play someproper football). Even on ground capacity there was only Wednesday, Derby, Leeds and Southampton (by 500) of last year's Championship sides with greater capacity and Sunderland will swell that number this season (though not Birmingham or West Brom). So Leicester is a big City, with a sizeable core support and a ground to match the capacity of most. Unlike Sheffield (or Sunderland or Bimingham really) Leicester does not have to service two clubs. All we are really missing is the sort of players and style of play which will put bums on seats.
