Mandaric sets Foxes takeover date

Looks like the 'company' really is in dire straights.

Seems RK has his backing too, for now.

Glad... Iain Dowie is not a man I want here at City.

did anyone else notice the amounts of if/at the moment/ and proablyes there were in that interveiw, he knows exactly how to talk to the media. "Rob is probably getting on well with the players" "i am not commited to anyone at the moment" etc. He knows what hes doing however i dont like the fact that he doesnt say for deffinant, i know this is because hes a true business amn and u shouldnt say anything for deffinate but its hard to trust people like that. not that im rejecting the bid go milan

What I liked about that BBC article, was that it is the first time (that I can remember) that one of the main protagonists has actually mentioned a date ...

I look forward (albeit with a tinge of doubt) to cheering Milan onto the pitch prior to our plucky display against Brum on Saturday ...

Fantastic read.....

Sorry but i had to repost it...

You see folks - I am the man with the crystal ball! And now some more little nuggets for you:

1) The 'fire brigade' have been called in to Welford Road. Some of the ol' blazers are not happy with the idea of reviving the groundshare but it is going to happen - it's No 1 on MM's list of priorities.

2) Becks will make his debut for LA Galaxy on the first day of the MLS season (fitness permitting). This match will have the highest global satellite television audience ever.

3) Some technical hitches have occurred over the rebranding of LA Galaxy. I am reliably informed though, that the club will definitely have 'Manchester United' in its title by the start of the 2007/8 season.

4) MM is looking elsewhere in the MLS for a club. This target will also be renamed. Lineker maybe involved with the branding and marketing of this 'product'.

I might also remind you that I said that MM would play hardball over the clubs finances in order to reduce his offer.

PS It was Victoria who pushed through Beck's deal with the Galaxy (it was a done deal as far back as September) - her revenge over Davids trip to the Loos!

In reply to the question "what are the chances of the takeover taking place before saturday?" The foxes trust said...

"Changes by the day & depends what you term "completed"

If you mean sufficient no of shareholders give written backing to the deal

- yesterday would have said little chance

- today chances improved but still 50/50 at best."

This is on talking balls for any who want to see.

This is promising... :)

Lets hope the Trust and MM can come to a solution and this can be put to rest once and for all... ;)

I also hope that Iain Dowie doesn't come to LC, I don't rate him and I rate Kelly higher than him... so yeah if that's the option, stick with RK.

Good luck to all, a few exciting days coming up... :)

Leicester Under Microscope

I can't believe it - I still hate the Telegraph, but it reports that the takeover will be announced tomorrow ...

Key part of the above article:

"In the week when Milan Mandaric is poised to wrap up his takeover of Leicester City, the players have first to prove that they are worth the £25 million investment by springing a second straight third-round upset in their FA Cup replay at Fulham tonight.

It is likely that Mandaric, the former Portsmouth owner, will give manager Rob Kelly up to £3 million to spend on transfers this month as Leicester strive to narrow their 11-point gap from the Championship play-off places. But the takeover has taken longer than expected to be confirmed – not for fear of creating a distraction from the replay, but because the businessman has uncovered larger debts at the club than he first thought.

Leicester's debts from the construction of the Walkers Stadium have been estimated at £16 million, but further problems have come to light through the due diligence process. "There were some debts that I wasn't aware of – bigger losses than I realised," Mandaric admitted.

Despite complications, the takeover is set to be announced tomorrow, after Leicester's attempt to send Fulham the same way as Tottenham last season."

COME ON CITY!

Good to see he's giving Kelly a chance. I suppose he'd wanna be pretty sure of the situation before playing the manager card, to avoid the Redknapp saga over.

Overall I am pleased too...especially with the diminishing alternatives and the prospect of Dowie instead.

I just hope RK doesn't do a Mickey Adams and fail to learn from mistakes.

There is no doubt in my mind Mandaric will want to take the initiative and attack games. Taking a draw were it offered won't feature in his vocabulary.

Kelly's shown signs of being more positive recently.

But he still needs to be more focused on recognising the needs of an attacking team and more ruthless in ensuring the team is entirely composed of players who can achieve those ends.

ROB FEARS HE IS MAN FOR CHOP

FULHAM v LEICESTER, TONIGHT, 7.45PM

By James Nursey

LEICESTER boss Rob Kelly is praying he is not the first casualty of Milan Mandaric's imminent takeover.

Former Portsmouth owner Mandaric, 68, is hopeful of completing a £25million deal for the Midlands club before Saturday's Championship home game with leaders Birmingham.

But Kelly, whose side visit Fulham tonight for their FA Cup replay, has received no assurances about his future with the Foxes 18th in the league.

And the former Blackburn coach admits he is braced for a "thunderbolt" from Mandaric, who is thought to prefer a higher-profile manager like Iain Dowie.

Kelly, in charge a year since succeeding Craig Levein, said: "I am sure Milan Mandaric has done his background stuff and will have a plan.

"In football you get a few thunderbolts which you don't see coming.

"But my background will probably help me. I have done every job in a football club. It does give you a grounding, a perspective.

"Early on the speculation coincided with us having a dip in form. But things like this work at a much higher level than mine."
