Milan Mandaric has targeted leicester!

Greetings Foxes. Before I begin, I have a confession to make: I'm a Pompey fan... wait! Don't ban me yet! I'm here to help, I swear!

I was wondering what the general opinion of Foxes fans was on Milan Mandaric's offer to buy the club and, as usual for me, when I read this thread I had to offer my own 2p. So I hope you don't mind...

Milan made a number of mistakes when he was in charge at Fratton Park (we like to call them Tony, Graham, Velimir and Alain). He was extremely over-zealous about changing managers (seven different gaffers since he took over in 1999. Redknapp twice, as everyone knows.) I also take the point, that someone made on about page 4, that his choice of manager wasn't always impeccable.

The thing is, he was simply the best thing to happen to Portsmouth Football Club since Jimmy Dickinson. You can argue all you like about his errors, but the facts speak for themselves. He took over when we were a struggling second-tier club and left us when we were fourth in the Premiership.

He's a stubborn and proud man (yes, I have met him) with a very clear idea of what he wants. This is his biggest asset because he's not the type to cut and run when things aren't going well. He knew what he wanted with my club and he got us there. The measure of the man is that, even when he could have milked the glory for another couple of seasons, he knew that Gaydamak (and his money) would do far more for us in the top flight than he could. I know I'm getting over-the-top but, he really did leave with Fratton Park literally singing his praises.

I really do hope that, should he emerge with your football club, you have (almost!) as much success as we did. The man deserves it.

You read all the pages?? You must have started bout sunday!!

The details of whatever deal is accepted will be interesting. Why do I think it won't be quite as rosy for the club as the impression that has been given?

For instance, will the mortgage be paid up on the ground or will the mortgage continue and the money be spent on the team.

And precisely how much money will that be after people have been paid out? It's been stated that the Board have to do what's best for the shareholders, not what's best for the fans.

And that keeps a sceptical bell ringing loudly in my head.

Sit back and relax Thrac, let your concerns rest on the mantle piece for a while until we get to know all the details. Mandaric wants to buy this club and will want premiership football quickly. Therefore he'll supply significant funds for transfers and make sure that the ground is bought back or on a much more attractive re-payment scheme for Leicester.

That line about doing what's best for the shareholders is just throwing caution to the wind.

I've already got a glory hunter (fairweather city fan) emailing me and saying that hes gonna start going back if we get in the prem..

I told it was a cold night last night at the walkers whilst he was watching barca v cheski with his cocoa.....

I bet Mandy will be rubbing his hands at the thought of 4-5000 fairweather fans returning!

Yes it's making me sick already. Just like Chelsea make me sick. There's a price on everything but a value on nothing is the phrase that comes to my mind.

Very interesting mate thank you.

The guy has made mistakes, we all do. Thankfully, it was with your club, so now he'll have that experience under his belt and wont make the same mistakes with us. :)

I know what your saying.

The good thing is that if we do get in the premiership the prices will probably increase, so you'd expect only the real fans to still fork out the prices to go and watch us. Unless we get some 50p millionaires coming down because it's the in thing. Fookers.

God is a Leicester fan. Milan is one of God's Chosen Men. We are being saved. I am a disciple :P

Premiership football should now become a realistic target for us in the next couple of years, we'll have funds to spend and improve our squad, and there should be no more excuses for failure :)

my thoughts are the Milan wil pay Teachers pension fund people off and restructure the debt... if you had 2M quid personally ...what would you do... buy a big house outright or finance a long term business or whtever to allow you to increase that amount...and keep a small mortgage at lower interest rates, as the value of the property would increase anyway to safeguard the minimum investment, and allow you to use the capital on the other plans..

no point in tying it ALL up in the stadium... also, with his capital, other financiers would offer MUCH more favourable interest rates...

Anyone who wants me to translate this give me a pm..

Where's a moderator when you needs one

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NK_Koper

History

From the records, it appears that football in Koper was played as early as in the 1920s, but officially, the club took the name NK Koper in the year 1955, when it was formed by the merger of two football teams: Aurora and Meduza. The club played under this name in different Yugoslavian leagues until 1991 and was one of the most successful Slovenian clubs. After Slovenia became independent, the club started to play in the 1.SNL and 2.SNL. At the beginning of the 1990s, the club was achieving mid-table success. By the end of the 1990s, the club had been relegated to the second division twice, had serious financial problems and renamed itself to FC Koper, thereby avoiding the necessity of paying off its debts. With the advent of the new millennium, FC Koper consistently achieved positions in the upper half of the table (achieving third place in the 2001–2002 season, its highest since Slovenian independence). In the 2003–2004 season, they were playing in a European competition for the first time since 1991: the UEFA Intertoto Cup. Two years of mid-table anonymity and significant financial difficulties followed, in part because the former owner, Georg Suban, left substantial debts to the club and took half the team with him when he moved to the other 1.SNL team NK Mura.

The fans took control of the club and tried to improve its finances to save it from going bankrupt and disappearing like two other major Slovenian clubs (NK Olimpija and NK Mura), with reasonable success. In the 2005–2006 season, Mladen Rudonja returned to the club and brought with him the Serbian-American businessman Milan Mandarić who paid off all the remaining debts. After the first half of the season, before the arrival of the new patron, Koper was battling against relegation, but in the second part of the season, with a new coach, Milivoj Braćun, the club started an unbeaten run that led them to reach the 3rd place in the 1.SNL and to win the Slovenian Cup for the first time, FC Koper's first trophy since the Slovenian independence from Yugoslavia. This also qualified the team to play in the UEFA Cup qualifying rounds in the 2006–2007 season.

Wonder if there are any good players there?

Isn't it great that this thread gets closed and a few days later Milan actually bids :P

He only bought the club because the thread got closed he wanted to teach the foxestalk ADMIN staff a lesson a very harsh lesson indeed!

What's all this promotion in 3 years b*llox..??

We're unbeaten in 8 games now and only 4 points of the play-offs. When you look at the teams above us they are by no means any better than us. If we purchase a couple of decent players in January what is there to stop us pushing for a play off final at Wembley in May?

There should be a reignited sense of optimism and belief around the club now; we all know what this team is capable of when they perform to their ability.

I cannot believe that I could agree with you, but I dont think it will happen due to the lack of convincing wins and the glut of unconvincing draws.

We nedd to see a lot more 3-1s etc from NOW onwards
