Official Statement

Leicester City today confirmed they have received a formal offer for the club from former Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric.

The offer is one of a number of options available to the club in terms of generating new investment to fund the club's ambitions.

Mr Mandaric's offer will be considered in due course as the directors consider the best way forward for the club.

A club statement said: "We have received an offer from Mr Mandaric and this will be given full consideration.

"We have a number of options available to the Board and it is imperative that the right decision is taken to safeguard, protect and develop the best interests of the football club in the short, medium and long term.

"As soon as is practically possible, the club will communicate further with shareholders, supporters and staff."

I suppose they should be cautious and play it down a little, hope they make the right decision for the football club!

They're doing the right thing in playing it down I suppose, but we're gona bring him in at the end of all of this speculation anyway so I'm gona press ahead with getting Mandaric on the back of me City shirt

The details of whatever deal is accepted will be interesting. Why do I think it won't be quite as rosy for the club as the impression that has been given?

For instance, will the mortgage be paid up on the ground or will the mortgage continue and the money be spent on the team.

And precisely how much money will that be after people have been paid out? It's been stated that the Board have to do what's best for the shareholders, not what's best for the fans.

And that keeps a sceptical bell ringing loudly in my head.

WAHOO!

I would like to point out that all posts refering to the unlikely event of Mandy coming up with the goods was an elaborate plan of bluff and double bluff, engineered to force his hand...and not the result of the miserable negative thinking it appeared to be. :D

Up yours Ultra!

my thoughts are the Milan wil pay Teachers pension fund people off and restructure the debt... if you had 2M quid personally ...what would you do... buy a big house outright or finance a long term business or whtever to allow you to increase that amount...and keep a small mortgage at lower interest rates, as the value of the property would increase anyway to safeguard the minimum investment, and allow you to use the capital on the other plans..

no point in tying it ALL up in the stadium... also, with his capital, other financiers would offer MUCH more favourable interest rates...

Anyone who wants me to translate this give me a pm..

For all the doubters out there…..

If our club is taken over it will be an almost unique takeover in so much that yes there have been many takeovers in the past ie. Stoke, Derby, Notts County, Leeds that haven’t worked.

But the common denominator in all these bids was that the clubs were almost all in the red. To my knowledge our books are quite healthy. If an investor does come in and ploughs about £25 Million in it can only be good news, finally we might be able to own part or if not all of our stadium, we will also be able to secure our contracted players, afford higher wages if not spend a little cash in the transfer market too.

Do not worry about our promising youth set up, look at Portsmouth, Gary O’Neil, Matt Taylor etc… are still playing.

So get behind potential investment as Milan has stated he wants to bring us Prem football again and that cant be a bad thing…..

:):):):)

Does this all mean that the NOTW does'nt chat shit then?

No it just means it was onto something for a change instead of having to make it up.

The above explains why most mature, intelligent fans will NEVER accept Mandaric in charge of our club.

We're not prepared to settle for being sloppy seconds.

Greetings Foxes. Before I begin, I have a confession to make: I'm a Pompey fan... wait! Don't ban me yet! I'm here to help, I swear!

I was wondering what the general opinion of Foxes fans was on Milan Mandaric's offer to buy the club and, as usual for me, when I read this thread I had to offer my own 2p. So I hope you don't mind...

Milan made a number of mistakes when he was in charge at Fratton Park (we like to call them Tony, Graham, Velimir and Alain). He was extremely over-zealous about changing managers (seven different gaffers since he took over in 1999. Redknapp twice, as everyone knows.) I also take the point, that someone made on about page 4, that his choice of manager wasn't always impeccable.

The thing is, he was simply the best thing to happen to Portsmouth Football Club since Jimmy Dickinson. You can argue all you like about his errors, but the facts speak for themselves. He took over when we were a struggling second-tier club and left us when we were fourth in the Premiership.

He's a stubborn and proud man (yes, I have met him) with a very clear idea of what he wants. This is his biggest asset because he's not the type to cut and run when things aren't going well. He knew what he wanted with my club and he got us there. The measure of the man is that, even when he could have milked the glory for another couple of seasons, he knew that Gaydamak (and his money) would do far more for us in the top flight than he could. I know I'm getting over-the-top but, he really did leave with Fratton Park literally singing his praises.

I really do hope that, should he emerge with your football club, you have (almost!) as much success as we did. The man deserves it.

Cheers Worm, interesting words. This just adds to why Milan Mandaric should take over at Leicester. We all make mistakes, he can make them here aslong as he fulfills his dream he has for us.

I've already got a glory hunter (fairweather city fan) emailing me and saying that hes gonna start going back if we get in the prem..

I told it was a cold night last night at the walkers whilst he was watching barca v cheski with his cocoa.....

I bet Mandy will be rubbing his hands at the thought of 4-5000 fairweather fans returning!
