Steven Posted 27 September 2006 Posted 27 September 2006 There are rumours on another forum that Fryatt has injured himself in training and will be out for two months.
Dr The Singh Posted 27 September 2006 Posted 27 September 2006 I fooking hope this aint true.... No, it can't be, this could be beginning of a all new low, not to say an excuse for RK and the board!!
Master Fox Posted 27 September 2006 Posted 27 September 2006 If were true surley it would be posted on the offical site?
Fez of Mahrez Posted 27 September 2006 Posted 27 September 2006 This really doesn't bother me in the slightest. Hopefully Dodds will get a chance now.
Dr The Singh Posted 27 September 2006 Posted 27 September 2006 This really doesn't bother me in the slightest. Hopefully Dodds will get a chance now. Your beginning to sound like Thracian.................I think you need to get way from him before it's too late!!!
Manwell Pablo Posted 27 September 2006 Posted 27 September 2006 If he's injured he's injured it happens. May even be good for us......
gatesheadfox Posted 27 September 2006 Posted 27 September 2006 This really doesn't bother me in the slightest. Hopefully Dodds will get a chance now. i have never seen dodds play but fryatt isnt performing at the moment and it may prove to be easier for him to cope with than just being dropped, unless its a longish term injury
Fez of Mahrez Posted 27 September 2006 Posted 27 September 2006 Your beginning to sound like Thracian.................I think you need to get way from him before it's too late!!! It's ridiculous that we have scored 5 goals this season (there are three strikers in the Championship who have scored more than that by themself), our main striker has only scored seven goals in nine months, our most lively striker can't get in the team and we have one of the most prolific strikers in the country at youth and reserve level who's never played for the first team.

It's too late, or maybe not, his replies are very short compared to Thracian's long essays!!!
eaststandtom Posted 27 September 2006 Posted 27 September 2006 matt fryatt is an excellent player and it is a big shame if he is injured a top class jockey cant win on a knackered horse sort the service out from midfield and he'll score goals
gatesheadfox Posted 27 September 2006 Posted 27 September 2006 matt fryatt is an excellent player and it is a big shame if he is injured a top class jockey cant win on a knackered horse sort the service out from midfield and he'll score goals that is what i had been saying prior to saturday, but his performance made me wonder whether he is up to speed or not. his shot that the keeper saved when he was clean through on goal was painful to see

Paul Ramsey Posted 27 September 2006 Posted 27 September 2006 Anybody ever notice how weak Fryatt's shots are? I think he'd struggle to hit the ball from the edge of the box in to the goal without it bouncing at least once.
werestandingup_weresittingdown Posted 27 September 2006 Posted 27 September 2006 wouldnt bother me in the slightest if he was out for 2 months!!!! dont see what we'd be missing judging on what we've seen so far???
Ric Flair Posted 27 September 2006 Posted 27 September 2006 Fans are so ****in fickle. You wouldn't have been saying this at the end of last season. Yes, he's had a bad start to the season, but so have all of our players. The reason being because our manager is allowing or telling our defence to hoof the ball up to our strikers who aren't very good in the air. Fryatt is our best striker, closely followed by Hume. If you think things are bad right now, you just wait. Imagine Elvis and O'Grady starting every match? Relegation. We have no money either, if this is true it's devastating. Kelly will be got rid of eventually as we'll continue to lose but the new manager won't have a natural goal scorer to then get us out of the mess, well he will in 2 months I suppose.

I don't think Fryatt is a natural goalscorer. I don't think it's fans being fickle, it's fan responding to form. Fryatt has one goal this season and only seven since he joined us. You can blame the midfield all you want but you have to work with what you've got and with our non-creative midfield Fryatt is useless. Might as well see what Dodds is like.
Shum Posted 27 September 2006 Posted 27 September 2006 Injuries are part and parcel in football. If the guy is injured, hope he is back ASAP but in the meantime, the show must go on.
Thracian Posted 27 September 2006 Posted 27 September 2006 If true- and I've heard no confirmation, it might temporily solve a tricky problem for Kelly and give him the chance to use Dodds from the bench. My big concern is that it will probably mean we'll never use Hume in attacking midfield unless he pairs O'Grady/Dodds or O'Grady/Hammond and there the problem of finding sufficient support from midfield would remain. Make no mistake though, Dodds is well able to play behind a front two and I could even see Kelly looking at the dreaded 4-5-1 with Hammond, Hume, Wesolowski, Dodds, Porter in midfield and O'Grady doing the donkey work up front. The difference between this one and our previous 4-5-1's is that this one would readily convert to 4-4-2, 4-3-3, even 4-2-4 and would provide the prospect of us scoring goals. It would also clear all the deadwood from our midfield whatever system he called it. Andy King would be an excellent addition to the bench to compliment those six but I'd be interested to hear the inevitable views to the contrary.

Fryatt had a phenomenal record at Walsall given the struggling team he was playing in. He also scored a hell of alot of goals at youth level, just like Dodds has done. The reason Fryatt isn't producing the goods this season is because of the support he gets, it's not as if he's the only striker either. Hume, O'Grady and Elvis are all failing to hit the back of the net because for 90% of the time they don't have the ball at their feet. Do the math.
OBO Posted 27 September 2006 Posted 27 September 2006 Shame if Matty's injured but now maybe Hume will get a few starts and get back into his stride? I seem to remember he was never really scoring goals when CL was putting him in the team one week then on the bench the next but when he started playing regularly he picked up a good few goals.

Read again what you just put. That's just the team you want to see but with Dodds up front.

I'm not saying he won't ever. But on current form, I couldn't care less if he was injured.
