Manwell Pablo Posted 28 September 2006 Posted 28 September 2006 I honestly can't think of any player I'd want on loan Think I'd rather have MDV back then take a chance on any of the Donkey's being mentioned on here. I dunno if we have a recall option or not. Get Joey Gudjohnson back (thats a joke before someone takes it seriously)
Chrysalis Posted 28 September 2006 Posted 28 September 2006 mdv should never have been shipped out, I can see us getting someone on loan now, dispite what the board said about money they will sanction a loan now.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 28 September 2006 Posted 28 September 2006 Tick tock, tick tock.................... I've just been reading through the Plymouth match thread from last season when Levein left. Will be interesting to see how long it takes for Kelly to get the same sort of bad feeling that Levein got that night if things continue in the same vein. I can't see us getting much from Birmingham, Southampton, Leeds or Palace in our current state. I'm really starting to feel that the Colchester game will be seen as the beginning of the end for Kelly. In previous games at least we created a chance or two and the Sunderland and Hereford games went well. I can't see us doing anything against any of the teams we're playing over the next few weeks.
Louise Posted 28 September 2006 Posted 28 September 2006 It has been confirmed on Radio Leicester. Went over on his ankle, 'serious doubt' for the weekend. No mention of how long he'll be out for though.

lildave3 Posted 28 September 2006 Posted 28 September 2006 Not to fear we've got Asaba!!!! How long is he on trial for? Not long hopefully, you can tell him being poor has rubbed off on the rest of the strikers.

Bert Posted 28 September 2006 Posted 28 September 2006 Maybe we'll score on Saturday and the os will tell us a few days late as well.

lcfc_jme Posted 28 September 2006 Posted 28 September 2006 For some reason, I have a feeling that Fryatt being out could be a bit of a good thing for us. I have a slight feeling that Hume and COG will play upfront together, click really well and bag a goal apiece, with us winning the game. Shame to hear he's got injured though

Shame to hear he's got injured though Sometimes it works like that. Fate makes a decision for you and you never look back... I'd still play Hume behind the front man/men though. Not so much out of choice but because throughout our wretched start to the season goals wise we've had no-one to run late into the box from midfield. As far as I've seen, Iain Hume, Andy King and Eric Odihambo are the only players in the club at under 18 level or above, who can do this.

We shouldn't need a striker to fill that role though - a midfielder who likes to think they are attack-minded and wants to get forward all the time should be doing it. Scholes and Ballack are perfect examples of this (btw I am in no way whatsoever saying we have players of that class at our club). Hume and O'Grady could compliment each other very well, and, if we played them two upfront, I think we'd create more chances and possibly score more goals as well. If Williams plays, then I reckon he'd do a good job of getting forward and getting on the end of the loose balls (not intended as a rude comment) in and around the box. Little Levi should be quite good at this as well, and it suprises me that he hasn't done this as of yet.

I think Williams has tried to get forward more - and certainly shoot more when he's been involved latterly but not right into the box as we need. As for Porter I think Kelly's giving him a chance to settle into the team on the wing and Porter has tried to follow instructions by doing the simple things rather than seeking to do anything expansive. It's a pity in some ways we don't have another regular player who can play on the left because Porter's the perfect player to feed two/three strikers from midfield. Tiatto's the nearest but he's always injured. But you can see that, for now, Portr lacks a bit of authority and seniority - otherwise he'd tell Hughes to sod off when it comes to free kicks and corners.

I think the thing with Williams is not the fact that he doesn't want to get into the box and help out more, I reckon it's more to do with RK and the tactics he likes to employ. If he sent us out to attack, score goals and kill teams off, I reckon we'd see Williams get into the box more and certainly back the strikers up quite a bit. However RK seems content to let our strikers play in their own little group, as he wants the midfield to hold back incase the ball is lost and comes towards our goal. Wrong way to play the game if you ask me but I'm not the gaff Fair enough on Porters part that he doesn't want to try too much and end up making mistakes or costing us goals, that shows maturity and is probably the right thing to do for the team. But I'd love to see him taking our set-pieces and getting mroe involved in our attacks, cos the delivery from Hughes is dreadful and he doesn't exactly supply our strikers with anything better from open play either.
Matt Posted 28 September 2006 Posted 28 September 2006 Its never good to have players injured and as I said Fryatt hasn't been playing bad but at the end of the day his job is to score goals something he hasn't been doing, I have been saying for the last few games drop Fryatt, this has now been forced on the teams which i'm not happy about but i'm not disappointed i'm happy for someone else to have a chance and maybe this will make the player(s) who replace Fryatt will have "this is my chance" in there mind and they may start doing the job up front. Its about time Fryatt was dropped/had a rest for a few games, just a shame its been forced upon the team.

Williams' goalscoring for us has ALWAYS been poor - whether under Adams, Levein or kelly. What grounds are there for thinking he's going to change now? Recent games have shown that Porter is not a natural winger . He may well be acting under instructions but his game is suffering through not going forward enough. Tiatto was fit in the last game but wasn't used. He has to date been our most creative midfield player this season. I wouldn't be surprised to see him start on Saturday. If Porter had enough confidence he'd tell Hughes where to go with setpieces - especially as Hughes' record with them has been so poor.

Porter just shows the natural respect for seniior players that anyone of his age would show. Porter has also easily been our most creative player. The number of his passes, both from dead ball situations and from open play which have offered the opportunity of a shot on goal, have far exceeded the total from anyone else. And his points record for appearances made is second only to Wesolowski.
