The People's Hero Posted 8 October 2006 Posted 8 October 2006 So what do you guys know? How interested is he?
Foxes_Trust Posted 8 October 2006 Author Posted 8 October 2006 So what do you guys know? How interested is he? Our understanding from information gained from our own Trust contacts & not via the club is that we are his number one choice (for reasons outlined in the statement, a ready made ground being high on the list). That however doesn't mean he is certain to launch a bid, all elements of our statement are relevant.
Maybes Posted 8 October 2006 Posted 8 October 2006 It says in the statement "ensuring fans wont be priced out of attending games" isn't that already the case. I know the club are coming up with these packages but the price of a single match ticket is ridiculous. Just a thought.
The People's Hero Posted 8 October 2006 Posted 8 October 2006 I understand the need to ensure that any investor has the best interests of the club at heart... but seriously, we're talking about an INVESTOR here - not a benefactor... please don't scare him off...
lookwhaticando Posted 8 October 2006 Posted 8 October 2006 Our understanding from information gained from our own Trust contacts & not via the club is that we are his number one choice (for reasons outlined in the statement, a ready made ground being high on the list). That however doesn't mean he is certain to launch a bid, all elements of our statement are relevant. There's not a great deal of information in the article itself from what I've read. It seems to be mostly the Trust asserting that it (well, the fans) should have a say in the club and the way it's run. There's no sign of the information you have posted in response to TPH's question - is this somewhat 'off the record' - hence it not being officially acknowledged on the Foxes Trust website?

Important questions have to be asked & we will ask them (as we hope will the existing clubs board)
The People's Hero Posted 8 October 2006 Posted 8 October 2006 Fu ck me... it IS expensive to watch Pompey!
Foxes_Trust Posted 8 October 2006 Author Posted 8 October 2006 Im not going just to see the ground, im going to watch football. Championship not premiership. Yes, but those prices are above what you were paying when we were last in the Premiership & represent a steep rise for Pompey fans in recent seasons.
Maybes Posted 8 October 2006 Posted 8 October 2006 Yes, but those prices are above what you were paying when we were last in the Premiership & represent a steep rise for Pompey fans in recent seasons. I agree. Fair point, but I still think fans are being out priced at the moment for a single match ticket. However I can see that the club are trying their best to come up with suitable packages.

It seems to be mostly the Trust asserting that it (well, the fans) should have a say in the club and the way it's run. There's no sign of the information you have posted in response to TPH's question - is this somewhat 'off the record' - hence it not being officially acknowledged on the Foxes Trust website? It is not "official" information so wouldn't be included in a press release issued to all media channels, we would feel comfortable posting in a future web article though and we more or less stated it in our article in our recent Trust members newsletter & the latest edition of the Fox Fanzine issued a few weeks ago.

This is obviously why they need the new ground and why the cost of watching Portsmouth might be so high.
Smudge Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 Why on earth has the Foxes Trust fired off a pre-emptive missile like this? Protocol would define that one should wait until he makes a proposal before making comments about conditions of sale. Very tacky!
lookwhaticando Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 Why on earth has the Foxes Trust fired off a pre-emptive missile like this? Protocol would define that one should wait until he makes a proposal before making comments about conditions of sale. Very tacky! I don't think it's a pre-emptive missile. I certainly don't think there's anything wrong with a fans organization making noise about a situation which affects the fans - that's what they're there for, surely? I don't think there really stating any conditions of sale either - they're just stating, frankly, the obvious. The fans want to see somebody who's interested in making the club a sucess - on and off the field. There's nothing wrong with that.
Louise Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 With the Merc publishing comments from fans groups (and with those comments being broadcast across the internet in various other articles), surely it's prudent for the Foxes Trust to say where they stand, without fear of their statement being edited down etc.
Thracian Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 Why on earth has the Foxes Trust fired off a pre-emptive missile like this? Protocol would define that one should wait until he makes a proposal before making comments about conditions of sale. Very tacky! I see your point but they are a fans organisation and I'd sooner they convey an idea of what they are thinking so they get the message out and can listen to feedback than they sit in silence.
ithuriel Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 I see your point but they are a fans organisation and I'd sooner they convey an idea of what they are thinking so they get the message out and can listen to feedback than they sit in silence. i must agree.

Seems to make sense. But how much feedback will they receive? And how much will they do to act on the feedback they are given? Surely if the answer to either of these questions is very little, then there is no point them putting anything out.
Manwell Pablo Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 I have no problem paying 20, 22 quid to watch Leicester, I'd have no problem paying 30 in the prem. TBH I think we have one of the fairst price schemes around. The only thing that makes it a rip off is the fact that we never win.

TBH I think we have one of the fairst price schemes around. The only thing that makes it a rip off is the fact that we never win. Not even the fact that we never play well?? We like to defend?? We do not know the basics of football?! I'm being a bit harsh I know, and frustrating as it'd be to watch us play absolutely brilliantly and lose to a sloppy goal or draw, it'd be better than watching us play sh!t and get hammered, or play negatively/defensively and draw games we are more than capable of winning.

We aren't defensive or negative we're just ineffective going foward there is a differnce. Generally if you play well at home you will win a game at home before long.
lcfc_jme Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 We aren't defensive or negative we're just ineffective going foward there is a differnce. Generally if you play well at home you will win a game at home before long. I agree with you to an extent, because at home we start brightly and play teams off the park at times, and because we are ineffective going forward, we cannot score and kill them off. But when we get a goal (on the rare occasion), we then fail to press-on looking for a second to put the game beyond teams, and instead seem happy to get rid of the ball and try to soak up pressure protecting a 1 goal lead rather than go for a 2 or 3 goal win. Us doing this is what costs us many points, be it at home or on the road. I'm not saying pressing on all the time is going to win us every game, 'cos it can be your downfall and cost you points as well. But surely you can appreciate playing positively, especially after we score, will be better for us in the long run than trying to protect slender leads...?
