bald reynard Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 I've heard from 2 journalist mates now (so COULD be true !) that both Andy Welsh and Paul Gallagher WILL be signed in time for the Saints game. Both are in Leicester today (Thurs pm) - if can't complete the formalities by 5.00 pm, they and the Club expect to complete signing tomorrow morning.

I would be happy to see Gallagher spend a bit of time here. He should be hungry enough. I think he spent the season on loan at Stoke last season and banged in a few there.
Surreal Madrid Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 Not Andy Welsh, 'tho - we saw enough of him previously that he couldn't cut it, plus I think Porter has got a future with us.

I think he spent the season on loan at Stoke last season and banged in a few there. 11 in 32 in the league not a bad return but it's not outstanding. I get the feeling he's another one who like the social side of being a footballer rather then the business side!
Steven Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 Paul Gallagher -yes, Welsh - no. I would be very worried about Kelly's judgement if he does sign Welsh and then stop playing Porter. <_<
Tommeh Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 Paul Gallagher -yes, Welsh - no. I would be very worried about Kelly's judgement if he does sign Welsh and then stop playing Porter. <_< I wouldn't I'd be dead chuffed if welsh came back, plus porters done nothing in the last 5 games.

Joe. Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 Well at least there will be competition for places. At least we are getting in players who can play midfield and up front. I would be more than happy to see Gallagher come to us for a while. Still unsure about Welsh cos he wasnt brilliant last time we had but he wasn't terrible either.
lookwhaticando Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 Welsh can come along if he likes - so long as Porter can still play.
dog_4 Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 well when roy keane said johnathan stead was talkin to two teams about a loan move i thaught it might be us. either way kelly doesn have connections with stead and Gallagher through his blackburn days

Thracian Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 I wouldn't I'd be dead chuffed if welsh came back, plus porters done nothing in the last 5 games. Well he won he penalty at Hereford for a start and if the easy chances he's created since his arrival had been converted we'd be 10-12 goals better off and in the top six. That's apart from working his socks off to help others right back to the edge of the penalty area and demonstrating he's far and away the best passer in our side. A few more with his capabilities and we'd have no trouble retaining possession and winning the occasional football match.

Thracian Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 Loan signings should be banned apart from an illness/injury emergency. They are a real insult to the players who are on the fringes of a team desperate to get a chance. People should remember that guys like Welsh are only on loan because they're not good enough to get into their own side. In fact perhaps no-one should bother signing players at all. Just register them in a weekly meat market - Premiership/Championship etc, goalkeepers/centre-backs etc and draw em out of the hat at random. Imagine that. Charlton having Henry and Scholes playing for them one week!!!!.

Welsh was very consisent whilst here last season, just what we need in our current league position. Also, Gallagher would be a great signing, he has scored for b'burn this season and scored plenty for Stoke last season.
Maybes Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 How long are their respective loans going to be? Dont want welsh, put gallagher I think should prove handy.
Janx Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 you know what??? Meh! thats what... how can we get excited about players coming in, look at all the ones that have come in over the last 3-4 years...which few stand oout as brilliant...

Walkers Wonderkid Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 i agree wiv 'look what i can do' though becuase i also think wiv porter in the middle he will run at defenders at cause serious trouble, n if not he will be brought down n win free kicks etc. hopefully! but tbh im not still not sure bout moving anyone around yet. gallagher would hopefully be good but dunno bout welsh?
Master Fox Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 Welsh has to be a better option to bloody Josh Low! Is there chance we can send off JLow on loan to some other sucker ?
