Thracian Posted 1 November 2006 Posted 1 November 2006 Despite our victory was anyone else thoroughly irritated by last night's referee? I'm not going to argue about individual decisions but it seemed that he was in a separate competition of his own - trying to find 101 different reasons to stop the game. And football's going to turn into a farce if some manager gets cute and tells his team that whenever the opposition get the ball in the attacking half, one of his players should roll on the floor in apparent agony. I thought the notion of stopping the game for injuries (except to the head) had ended. Yet last night's ref had clearly not got the message and would have stopped the game if someone simply bent down to rub some grass off his boots. When are the people who train referees going to get the message that one of the main requirements of officials is to help the game flow - not to plow up on every technicallity and not to become the centre of attention?.
Daggers Posted 1 November 2006 Posted 1 November 2006 First half, the officials were invisible...just as they should be. Second half, the ref obviously needed to do something to get his fingers warm. All three of them were missing decisions left and right, or giving bogus ones. Someone should do something when things like that happen, refs should be pulled off (although it may be wrong to reward poor performance )
Katy Posted 1 November 2006 Posted 1 November 2006 I was highly irritated with him. At least the linesman gave some decisions that the ref didnt.
davieG Posted 1 November 2006 Posted 1 November 2006 Lucky you didn't see the Chelsea/Barca match. 10 bookings see the topic
Stuliasz Posted 1 November 2006 Posted 1 November 2006 And where the hell did 5 added on minutes come from in the second half?
Manwell Pablo Posted 1 November 2006 Posted 1 November 2006 His name, a Mr G Laws, rings a bell. I'm sure he's never been a premier league referre and on last nights performance you can see why.
Phlashman Posted 1 November 2006 Posted 1 November 2006 He was shocking! Worst ref of the season so far, and we've had some bad ones.
Ric Flair Posted 1 November 2006 Posted 1 November 2006 We have had some awful ref's this season. Plashman, did you not go to the game against Villa? Now that was a shocking ref!!!
Katy Posted 1 November 2006 Posted 1 November 2006 And where the hell did 5 added on minutes come from in the second half? That's what I was thinking. I would say there was more time needed to be added in the first half than the second.
Thracian Posted 1 November 2006 Author Posted 1 November 2006 And where the hell did 5 added on minutes come from in the second half? I still can't work out the added time scenario. Sometimes there are injuries galore and all sorts of stops and the board goes up for a token two minutes. Then we get five minutes like last night and the same sort of time at QPR.
Phlashman Posted 1 November 2006 Posted 1 November 2006 We have had some awful ref's this season. Plashman, did you not go to the game against Villa? Now that was a shocking ref!!! Yeah I was there, I think I was too shocked at how well we were playing to notice the ref.
Manwell Pablo Posted 1 November 2006 Posted 1 November 2006 The formula for added time is. All stoppages for Injured players + 30 seconds for each sub + 1min/30 seconds cant remember which for each goal. So based on that 5 minutes is stupid. However the five minutes was probabley right, he did stop the game alot in the second half, Lee Hendrie must of, in total spent 5 minutes bouncing that bloody ball up and down before taking his set pieces.
Bluefoxtim Posted 1 November 2006 Posted 1 November 2006 What the hell happened when Tiatto was at the corner flag and the ref blew his whistle and gave them a goal kick!
Thracian Posted 1 November 2006 Author Posted 1 November 2006 What the hell happened when Tiatto was at the corner flag and the ref blew his whistle and gave them a goal kick! Bizarre.
harpendenfox Posted 1 November 2006 Posted 1 November 2006 And why is there always far more added time at the end of the second half as opposed to the first?
davieG Posted 1 November 2006 Posted 1 November 2006 Perhaps the 5 minutes was to make up for all the ball boy delaying antics I'm hearing about
Katy Posted 1 November 2006 Posted 1 November 2006 What the hell happened when Tiatto was at the corner flag and the ref blew his whistle and gave them a goal kick! He made some very odd decisions last night
Lichfieldfox. Posted 1 November 2006 Posted 1 November 2006 We have had some awful ref's this season. Plashman, did you not go to the game against Villa? Now that was a shocking ref!!! Villa ref - great ref awful game.He referred vs ipswich last year and was easily the best we had last season. Just had a shocker against the Villans. A bit like Elvis last night.

Daggers Posted 1 November 2006 Posted 1 November 2006 And where the hell did 5 added on minutes come from in the second half? Ginger ball boy
