Stearman's having a very in-different season to last, where he really looked like he was destined for great things. I've always found that young players second full season is harder than their first, as they are now classed as an established first team player and also the opposition have found them out (that's usually more of a case for strikers and wingers). So what does everyone think? Has he got the potential to be excellent, or are we massively over-rating him?.

I still think he's got all the attributes to be a superb player, but he's definitely had a rough old season so far. He has started to find his form, but there are a number of irritating traits he's picked up that Kelly should be working to stamp out. Such as the 60 yard pass that he uses 20+ times a match that often goes to the opposition.

I also, don't know where to play him.

I do get annoyed with those balls that he plays, though most of the time I'm not pissed off with Stearman. He usually has no options to pass to so therefore has to hoof the ball up the line. Nobody seems to want the ball on our team at times. It's so frustrating.

You have to remember Stearman is still only about 18 and a great prospect for the club. He has attracted the interest of Premiership clubs and has represented England at under-19 level. I think he will either be a very good player for our club, or we'll get good money for him one day.

You raise some good points there, I agree with that.

19 inte? Anyway, I agree he is a really good prospect. My only concern is that he's shifted round the team from right-back to right-wing to central midfield when his proper position is allegedly meant to be centre-back, he'll end up being a utility player rather than specialising and learning a specific position. I'd say I like him at right-back but he's been hindered by our shite midfield, either having to fill in for them or having no decent player on the right side to overlap from full-back.

I agree. This happened to Tom Huddlestone at Derby and their fans started to question whether he was as good as first thought. He's now showing how good he is at Spurs, where they've pinned him down in one position.

great prospect but he's at the crucial point now obviously takes a great interest, maybe a bit to much in getting pi55ed and spending a fortune at the casino like most 19 year olds however he needs to cut down on this and concentrate on his football as he could regret this in the future.

its easy to forget that stearman has been a consistent feature in the squad and team for 2 years now and is barely 19. this is incredible and the fact its taken so long for him to have a serious slump in form is testament to his ability and attitude.

a good prospect and potentially great player lets just hope he satys with the city for a few more years

i think the lads a great prospect and probably the best defender to come through the youth team ranks in decades , he does need time to mature though and i put his long range passing down to a poor midfield , much the same as kisnorbo or paddymac having to do the same to get the ball up front or even get the ball away.

it gets me how when we have a half decent youngster break through they are expected to start every game when we know they arent yet the finished article and youngsters can burn themselves out and so need to be managed properly.

porter and weso etc., arent the finished article though they have looked good in matches.

kelly seems to know what he is doing by blooding the youngsters and resting them when they need it.

if they were not good enough i doubt they would be allowed on the pitch to play with the first team

At 19, he is a good young prospect but he's never played in the Premiership, so you don't know how good he could be or what level he should be at. The thing is, with a young player/team, you are going to get some good performances mixed in with bad as consistency only tends to come with age and experience..............

I reckon hes a great prospect. He dosen't just turn into a bad player overnight. I think its hard being a youngster nowadays becuase their so much expectation, if a youngster comes into the side and has a couple of good games. The fans expect him to always be like that.

His form may have taken a dip (dive) for whatever reason at the beginning of the season - but now he appears to be improving once more.

The lad did well for us last season - evidently, or he wouldn't have played so many games. His performances last season led Levein to put one of his men (Maybury) into the LB slot to accommodate Stearman.

Despite his iffy performances from time to time, he's still a great prospect at RB. Once the team is out of this iffy injury spell, Stearman can return to the RB position and remain there - he'll regain his best form in no time, then. :)

Was it Huddlestone who scoered that cracker the other day?

Terrific prospect and should be played in his proper postiion as an attacking wing-back. Should also be played with people who compliment his ability and bring the best out of him.

To some extent and especially defensively, Maybury did that but sadly he doesn't offer nearly enough in an attacking sense although, surprisingly, that's not because he can't pass or shoot. But he doesn't do so nmearly often enough and he certainly can't take people on down the flanks.

Who plays on our wide right is a major problem and Stearman is definitely neutralised in having no natural partner.

Would be nice if we could get a decent right winger for stearman to play with, could be a quality partnership.
