davieG Posted 27 November 2006 Share Posted 27 November 2006 Some more stats to ponder: This time last year CL was consider a failure because of where the team was after 19 games, this bearing in mind he'd had to pretty much replace the entire squad. RK has since had the benefit of 5 players of his own choice, admittedly free trnsfers but then so were most of CLs and a more settled team. Is he entitled to be considered differently to CL just because he had a short, albeit vital period of succcess? mat_j101 Posted 27 November 2006 Share Posted 27 November 2006 I wouldnt say in general people are that in favour of Kelly. People are already starting polls asking who they want as the next manager.
Kilworthfox Posted 27 November 2006 Share Posted 27 November 2006 The football under Levein was just dog muck HOOOOOF no midfield. The club was going backwards under levein no doubt about it. Under kelly we initially did well. have had some very good spells like last month and some bad ones like this, so we will see come jan anyway

Dr The Singh Posted 27 November 2006 Share Posted 27 November 2006 RK, has been seen as a saviour, as he guided us to safety last season. Hence people still think he can do a job for us!!

Strokes Posted 27 November 2006 Share Posted 27 November 2006 I hope Kelly goes, his results are on a par with Leveins and the performances are far worse. I'd rather have Levein.

The performances are much better than we had under Levein, i think you forget just how bad we were. As for you rather having Levein, well obviously you would rether be in league one with the tress because that's where we would be with him in charge. chili_con_carne Posted 27 November 2006 Share Posted 27 November 2006 Also Kelly isnt the kind of guy to refuse to leave if we arn't paying him enough compensation. He will just accept the fact he has done badly and resign probably. If i was him i would probably resign if we lose tomorrow night, he is bound to get sacked by Mandaric anyway. He only has a one-year rolling contract, so the compo wouldn't be that great. And there's no way he should resign. We've got no other alternatives until MM takes over anyway. mat_j101 Posted 27 November 2006 Share Posted 27 November 2006 bang on we were worse under CL than we are now people forget how bad we played under CL We havent forgotten how bad we were under Levein, its just we r only slightly better under Kelly. Theres no way in hell id rather have Levein, but i have started to think we're going no where with Kelly. He saved us last season, but that was just new manager-itis. Happens at loads of clubs - new boss, players think places are up for grabs so play better to impress. Last season finsishes, and its not so good now. The truth is we need a clean break both manager and squad wise but if there is one thing Mandaric musn't do is mess about with the academy. Thracian Posted 28 November 2006 Share Posted 28 November 2006 If anything Norwich will be tougher than Derby. There's always a special commitment needed for local Derby's and invariably the adrenelin flows. Same with glamour Cupties like Tottenham last season and Villa this. The problem is it is easy to have a comedown afterwards especially having been denied that late goal Saturday. We lost at Sheffield Wednesday after Spurs and drew having taken the lead at QPR so, to me, given there's such a short break between the Derby/Norwich matches and it's us that's got the long trip, it doesn't look promising. Given also that it's a Tuesday night game and that our support will probably be a bit reduced and the picture gets even worse. Kelly's mention of wanting the takeover sorted ASAP suggests that it is getting to the players and finally, whether he'll admit it or not, he'll be having doubts about his tactics and his best team I imagine. The worse it gets the more he's likely to favour the players who put the run together last season - hence the revival of Stearman/Maybury. But whether that run was down to ability or adrenelin Kelly's team is now a known quantity and that's going to make life harder for him. Weso will doubtless return in some capacity but will that make us more attacking and give us the likelihood of goals?. Not really. Kelly needs to somehow get one step ahead tactically instead of one step behind and I just think his stratigic obstinacy has now left him in limbo. In other words, uncertain and under pressure no matter what he chooses to do. I hate the concept of draws but the proverbial something out of the game - basically a point - is the best we can realistically hope for unless he tries his luck - and he would need luck now - with something more radical. Trouble is it's not all about us anymore. Norwich won't lack confidence. So even our best might simply not be good enough. What an unnecessary mess.
