I personally think that being the child of homosexuals would just leave the child more prone and open to bullies to be honest, as filbertway hinted at in a post in here already. Many, many young children are targeted by bullies - the main reason being because they are different? Surely if a child had two parents of the same sex, they'd be in a minority and so would seemingly have a target on their chest for people to tease them about it? My fear is that the sort of people who will target these children would happen to be bigots with a major chip on their shoulder and a huge amount of ignorance. They wouldn't let up and would take great pleasure in tormenting. I can only imagine it'd be immensely distressing for the child, causing them serious problems and possibly turning them against their parents. There's no way you can condone bullying a child to tears, depression or self-harm is there? Need further expansion or do I get let off the hook now?

That's right, being raised by a loving same sex couple would definitely open the child up to targeted abuse from school bullies and obviously this should be the primary concern when deciding whether or not to leave children in care or place them with welcoming families of whatever orientation. Consequently, it should be written into adoption laws that children should also be prevented of being allowed into families where they may influence the child to: study a musical instrument wear glasses look a bit different do their homework have a hairstyle different to that of the school bullies wear shoes that are too clean/new/expensive or a hundred other shite reasons Yes sir, no bigoted ignorance at play here - no sir. Everyone has the concerns of the child at heart and thinks that protecting them from bullies is the best course of action. Of course, some people would say that bullies should no be tolerated and that everyone has a duty to stand up to them...that we should accept people for who they are not question what they are. Some people would say that leaving a child in care because of stupid homophobic attitudes based on ignorance are spouted by people that would be better off slamming their heads in doors. Some people would say that, but I wouldn't dare...considering there's so many of you that have voted 'no' so far. ****s sake! Do you seriously think a child is better served by remaining in care? You can not have ever been in care. Any of you. What children need in love and consistency and it is blinkered attitudes like this that deny them that happiness. I don't claim to be completely comfortable around homosexuals but i'm no homophobe or bigot, and at the end of the day it's their choice and they have the right to do whatever. And that includes adopting.

Especially the part about most children just want a loving family, and if the parents are good enough and prepared to love/look after the child properly then there should be no reason why they cannot adopt regardless of whether they're homosexual or not. I wouldn't ever consider it to be right to deny a child love, care, attention and a family. Maybe my views on the matter will change as I get older?
