One thing that did come out of it was that quite a few of them sadly had issues as kids. The ex herself was raped by her stepdad when she was about 10. There undenyably is a link between some problem kids and the lifestyles that they end up adopting. I cannot believe that you see its the KIDS with the problems.... again a poor reflection of the scum in our society. BAck to the lack of a loving father then!

If the system dissuades traditional hererosexual families from adopting, then the system should be changed pronto. I cannot imagine anything easier than finding out what sort of parents people are. The first and fundamental question however is much more complex and I doubt even a thesis would provide a convincing answer. But, gut feeling, I believe children survive almost anything and almost everyone. They are immensely adaptable. But the adoption system seeks to find the best parents possible. That being so, on balance I think children need a mother and a father, brothers and/or sisters, plus a strong, supportive and loving environment that includes grandparents, social groups and places they can belong. Mothers are virtually irreplaceable when kids are very young but fathers often come into their own when kids become action boys and girls and start to test their boundaries. There are great benefits to having both sexes around not least for the testing of ideas and opinion. The social pressures for adopted children of same sex couples could also be immense. Not necesssarily impossible to counter or deal with but there neverthelesss and not only the kid would have to survive this pressure but the homosexual relationship too. Relationships founder too readily nowadays anyway - at the cost of endless misery and wasted time and emotion - but if there are no "natural" children of an adoptive couple then it is that bit easier for a family structure to fall apart completely. You could write for ever on the question and still not come to a definitive conclusion but the above are just a few points. They are not conclusive nor necessarily my "final" views on the subject. However I would add that if my son had a best friend who had been adopted by two homosexual parents (and he may have had for all I know) then I wouldn't bat an eyelid, all involved would be treated as anyone else and I certainly wouldn't expect my son to give a toss either. If that's the most difficult situation he ever has to cope with he'll have an easy life. But the subject is not a simplistic one. And maybe the homosexuals need to think about it deeply too - about the real potential problems - rather than using it as another campaign flag they feel bound to carry. Cos this is not about homosexuals and their needs. It is about kids and what is best for them . Best, I say, not what is the only option.

As for hetrosexuals not wanting to go through the selection process and interviews is that considering the childs welfare? The process is there for a reason. If it was not there then bigots, racists, thugs chavs and Forest fans would be ellegiable If a hetrosexual couple refuse to be judged then surely they are not suitable. Gay couples would be asked the same questions and judged in the same way as straight couples. What is so wrong in that?

That is my opinion, and I will not apologise for it. I can't give a 1000-word essay detailing every reason why I believe that, I just do. However, I don't think anyone's opinion on whether it is right or not should affect the whole issue. I don't think gay adoption should necessarily be allowed or disallowed - what should happen is if a gay couple are interested in adopting a certain child, that child should be given the choice of whether or not they would feel comfortable being brought up by that couple. If the child doesn't mind and actually wants to be adopted by that couple, then there is no real reason why it should be disallowed. Even though I personally am generally against it, ultimately it should be left up to the child in question. If you are not directly involved, then you have no right to decide the outcome.

At nights (6pm onwards) it is packed and I cant train like that anymore as you have to form a queue to get on the bloody machines. Its like being at Alton Towers! The great thing about the gym is that it is full of loveley lasses at this time but all I end up doing is going on a machine that I dont like just so I can get a good angle on the hotty infront on the step machine. Its also not healthy as the missus goes there after work and all I used to get accused of was eyeing up the talent. As if I would stoop so low? As for the sauna/jacuzzi, at this time of day you get three lots of people there. The odd normal person like myself, then there are the black cab driving racists who ****er on for hours about there golfing exploits (you cant but help be dragged into there conversation in the bloody sauna but at least I dont have to look at there faces in the steam room) and then you get the troubled rich bored housewives who go to the gym and then get there bloody nails done and hair done in the next room. Ive never seen the old hags go anywhere near the gym but I have to torture myself by closing my eyes, trying not to laugh as they go on about there saggy tits amongst eachother whilst sitting in the jacuzzi after a swim. The sooner I forget this poxy own business malarky and get back to retail management the better as Im going mad with this lot in toe! Laters!

Doesn't the fact that so many heterosexual couples refuse to go through the inquisition required to adopt someone suggest to you that the system is unacceptable and, more important, isn't working properly?.

I know gay men have some female qualities, but it isn't quite the same. Perhaps in the case of a lesbian couple, the more "butch" leso could play the father role
