After that the relegated clubs will be so flush with TV money that the rest of the championship teams will be fighting for the play-offs. We have a lot of good young players who have been learning the hard way in the championship, so good one week, poor the next Two or three signings with a bit more class will bring the consistency needed to mount a serious challenge.

It really depends how much he invests on players and how wisely Kelly puts that money to use. It's a little difficult to judge Kelly's buying and selling as he's barely seen ten bob fifty and a pack of pork scratchings to offer for a player. The infrastructure's largely already in place at Leicester, I don't believe I'm being too biased in saying we have better facilities already than Pompey do - as far as I'm aware? It really is just a case of needing a team to go with the club and giving them time to gel. I'd like to think next season will be our promotion season, but I'm not going to put money on that until I see what players come and go over the summer (I really, really don't think we're going down.)

I remember reading somewhere that Mandaric's spending habits are rather minimal, so anyone expecting a real Abramovic Jnr should look to Hearts.

The manager in my local (expat) bar is a pompey boy, ex conference player and generally decent bloke.

His view is that Mandaric will spend but will be very carefull. He has some experience and exercised excellent control over Redknapp in the early years, resulting in Portsmouth getting good value for the money spent.

We have no idea as to whether Kelly can manage as well as coach, as said above he has pretty much had to make do with home produced talent not having much to spend on new players. Still with Milan signing the cheques I can't imagine him getting us in the sh*t Peter Taylor style!

It all depends on what players we get in now and how they're going to play together as a team. No more underperformers, please.

I'd say next season will be about consolidation, new players gelling together and begining to click as a unit so that we have a solid base to build on and push on in the season(s) following that.

If Mandy says Prem in 3 years, then I'll believe him for today because I don't want to be too negative about the new owner already.

i'm just looking forward to challenging again, even if it doesnt mean promotion. aslong as we are challenging for atleast playoffs next season i will be happy.

realistically top 10 next season would mark a huge step for the club considering the last 3 years IMO

I think next year is a distinct possibility, with the right players bought. The Championship is a tough division but with a little class and experience teams can rise above the dross.... just look at Derby for example..... last year they were in a worse mess than we are.....this year they are looking at automatic promotion,

and if it hadn't have been for a bad run earlier in the season then even City could have been an outside bet for the playoffs

MM will be looking to move faster than that. The third season is his built in insurance. It will ease the pressure a little.
