Yes I like the idea of Mike opening with Handscombe but I can't see that happening unfortunately. Here's what I'd go with:-
Handscombe
Mike
Patel
Mulder
Kimber
Cox (wk)
Ahmed
Travaskis
Holland
Currie
Hull

I do like the look of that. I’d personally have Swindells in for Cox as I think he’s more value with the bat than Cox.

Any idea on Trevaskis being fit or not?

Guessing Scriven is done for a few weeks too if it is his hamstring?

He looked pretty gloomy on Friday.

Listening to the Talking Foxes podcast, there won't be any Trevaskis for the early stages of the Blast and the club was in the market for a left-arm spinner, if they can find one going spare.

Is he injured?

Do they sell any decent beer down at Grace Road?

No

True of the in-house bars, but I recall some half-decent ones at vendor stalls in recent years?

Don't let it be a reason not to go anyway!

Davey....Green....Goldsworthy.....Thomas is certainly working his Somerset connections!

Yes, left arm spinning all-rounder, he took 2-1 in a T20 2nd XI game against Gloucestershire earlier this week - see videos

Has batted at number 3 for them in the Championship, in September scoring 122 against Kent in a CC match.

This would be my starting XI for the T20s:

Budinger

Patel

Hill

Kimber

Handscomb (c/wk)

Mulder

Rehan  A

Mike

Trevaskis

Scriven

Currie

While taking a wicket or too, Hull travels a bit too much to make the first XI but could switch with Currie when required.

Swindells as 'next cab' if form or injury necessitates a change to the batting line-up.

Either way, the main thing is no Aaron Lilley!!

Revised starting XI for tonight based on Goldsworthy batting at 9 for Somerset in his previous T20s in 2022:

Budinger

Patel

Kimber

Handscomb (c)

Mulder

Rehan  A

Cox (wk)

Mike

Goldsworthy

Holland

Currie

7 genuine all-rounders!

Or bits-and-pieces players! I thought Claude was supposed to be in charge of recruitment, not Thomas.

In T20, I tend to think you should have quality players in each discipline and one or two all-rounders as quite often you don't have the time to bat much lower than 5 or 6. Especially as the bowling isn't that destructive in the Blast so all it takes is two good innings from quality batters to win you the games.

Goldsworthy is a steady bat. Seen him a few times. Doesn't clear the rope much. 10 stone wet through. He is more of a batsmen than a bowler imo.

Shame Trevaskis is out see Goldsworthy as Trevaskis light in more ways than one

If Claude was in charge of recruitment we’d be in the shit. Goldsworthy is a quality replacement for Trev

Best bet is to have a skinfull in the Cricketers before heading in.  Great venue, great people, great times.  Beer was okay last time I went tbf.

The hobgoblin session IPA in the ground was one of the most revolting things I've ever had to drink.
