I'm on a high right now.

1) I helped stop the BNP scum getting a foothold on the City Council.

2) Labour regained control of the council (anyone who's been in the city centre lately will see why this matters).

3) After being out celebrating the above, I come home to find Leeds have relegated themselves!:clap::clap:

You refering to the £9million+ on slabs that mark easily, and look like shit when it rains.

Yay Labour

i know quite a lot of people in Goscote actually. i'm not sure i understand what your getting at. anyway Goscote must be 95% white so i'm not sure what these people are voting against.

It's not a 'vote against' more of a symbolic representation of their struggle with reality and a reflection on the current state of parenting and teaching in the locality. :D

i dont have a problem with immigrants who want to come here and work, and better the country, its the ones who dont ,but the government wont do anything about it, just like the government has been doing for many many years thats why there the numbers of english things are dwindling

why do you think scottish are voting snp ? had enough of an english government screwing them over

Oh the ignorance. The primary reason why immigrants / asylum seekers etc cost the taxpayer is because THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED TO WORK. People want to come here because there are jobs, not because they can sit on their arses doing nothing. Dependence on the welfare state is something which is taught, and is hence a predominantly white lower class activity. And what do we do with asylum seekers, we TEACH them that they can depend on the state. Genius.

true but if we allowed everyone who arrived in this country illegally to work there would be a free for all and the rules on immigration would go out of the window.

Nope. They work anyway, they just don't pay tax or NI and therefore undermine those who want to work legally.

I think you'll find it was the Lib Dems/Tories that bought the slabs from China, got the wrong sort and had to send them back. Very green. I'd have much preferred gravel myself. You can rake it over nicely hiding all the crap that drops into it, like chewing gum, syringes etc.

Don't really know what the mainstram parties represent any more.

There's a place for the 'protest vote' but BNP? Better to spoil the ballot paper.

Immigration has been taking place in this country for thousands of years. BNP supporters should check their history (Celts, Angles, Saxons, Huegenotst etc were all illegal immigrants or refugees at one time or another) and try to decide who is really a British National

This country has a lot of problems but to blame them on immigration is just the easy option.

I don't know the answers, but every day I see a country increasingly lacking in any kind of spirituality, dominated by individualtiy and personal choice, that obviously attracts people from all over the World who presumably come from worse places (difficult to imagine though it is).

One thing you can say for immigrants is that they really appreciate the democracy in this country. It is n the immigrant areas of Woking where you'll see the most activity in terms of putting up posters for their preferred parties. Maybe the white (still) majority should take some lessons from this and stop taking it for granted.

not always better but a thorn in the side of the idiots that are/will be in charge, it would be silly for the bnp to run the country lol even i can see that

Gazzer: "This country has a lot of problems but to blame them on immigration is just the easy option."

It's also the stupid option, it's for people who struggle with the slightly more complex reality of economics, social mobility and society.

Protest vote for the BNP? Would you have cast a protest vote for the Nazi party just to show the Weimar Republic? Seriously. Voting for someone gives them increased legitimacy, increased representation, increased funding and so on. You don't get to write why you voted for them ("p.s. I only did this to get at Labour") and so the assumption is that you voted for them because you agree with their politics, especially when it's far right racist scum.

When I was made redundant back in o3 I picked up a pamflet which detailed what asylum seekers were allowed to do. If I remember corerctly they were NOT ALLOWED to work. They were given weekly food and clothing vouchers to a small value. I forget all the details but I am sure the booklet will be available at the DHSS office law centres and on the web. I may have the booklet somewhere but as its 3 years old some of the figures may be out of date. It's best to get facts right before quoting isn't it?

There are a few knowledgeable people on here like those with experience as a Redcoat at Welfold Road prison and community singing leader at asylum seekers holding centres.

So if any of you know the names of asylum seekers or illegal immigrants that are working illegally grass em up just like you would do with your cousin whose doing a bit of moonlighting builders work while recovering from 'a broken leg'. Honest Joes as you all are. :@

dan, people will keep voting for people like the bnp because of the current labour government just wants to A. give control of our country and our money to johnny foreigner B. immigration <--- nuff said about that already

I AM A MINORITY in my own city now ;)

i dont want the bnp to be in charge of the country, i just want a thorn in the side of any government that follows my two points above

So am I... Immigration is huge in Melbourne, if you walk through the city it's often a game of 'spot the white fella'

But why perceive it as a bad thing? They contribute to the economy and pay taxes that go to services I use. Some integrate, some don't. While I prefer integration, it's not going to be made any easier by having racist people like the BNP making immigrants feel like second class citizens.

Vote UKIP to get us out of Europe, that's a good half-way measure.

At least if we're out of Europe, we won't have such an influx of dirty Frenchmen... and I'm sure you'll all agree that's a positive. lol

lol Get ready for it though cause the French economy is fooked at the moment, there's already an influx into London. New professionals simply can't find work over there. Whereas we actually have shortfalls in a lot of areas.

I always understood it that asylum seekers couldn't claim full benefits until they'd worked for 12 months, I'm probably wrong though. And the Welfare State is definately a major problem in this country in a lot of ways. The Government took it on themselves to try and help everybody out and it's just abused, and like you say it just teaches them to be dependent. Why go to college, university, get a job, when you can spend those 6 or whatever years on the dole. It's ridiculous.

I don't know about that but I know that while their application is being processed they certainly can't work legally and get the vouchers. Dunno about once they've been ok'd as genuinely deserving asylum (which is of course, a whole different thing to simple immigration).

What parts of Leicestershire did the BNP take ?

East Goscote.

They also have a seat in Whitwick (along with Labour and the Tories) and a seat in Hugglescote in North West Leicestershire.

Correct.

Ultra are you involved with the Labour Party in the city by any chance? We may well know one another from the days when i was involved in party politics, before picking up that tatty volume of Mill and progressing onto Hayek.

I'm a minority in Leicester. Full of students. They always seem to concregate around the University on Tuesdays every week. Is something going on there? :@
