Council elections held today

A sensible party would fail. Most people only listen to those that shout the loudest and shouting means anger and most people are angry about something so the the louder and more controversal the shouting the more people will be drawn in. This is why the main parties never agree or praise one another. To do that would be sensible and they would lose support for not being outspoken. Compromise is a taboo word to policticians.

Personally I would vote for a sensible party but that's because I don't have exteme opinions about anything. I just want to live a quiet life and die a quiet death when the time comes. :@

The Singh, I like your quote. I have put a post in the 'terrorist thread' along the same lines History is told by the victor. :@

This is not true, on many occasions Dave's Tories have actually backed Tony's Labour policies, even though they would have been defeated in the house if they hadn't!! This shows some maturation on the Tories side atleast!!

the BNP took the council seat in East Goscote the next village to us. unfortunately knowing some people in Goscote that i do it doesn't surprise me.

The BNP are filth. They & the people who vote for them are living in the past. Sort yourselfs out. This country is wank, get over it.

Tories cleaned up in Harborough taking it off the LibDems, did very well in NorthWest Leicestershire against Labour... Labour hammering all commers in Leicester so far  , split Liberal vote proving very damaging for the LibDems

The BNP absolutely, totally and utterly ****ed up in Birmingham.

Their two key target wards rejected them absolutely.

Bwahahahahahaha.

Twats.

dan, people will keep voting for people like the bnp because of the current labour government just wants to A. give control of our country and our money to johnny foreigner B. immigration <--- nuff said about that already

I AM A MINORITY in my own city now ;)

i dont want the bnp to be in charge of the country, i just want a thorn in the side of any government that follows my two points above

you are mistaken if you believe that, Leicester is still a white majority, 60% i believe.

The BNP profit from the votes of people I'll reluctantly term 'white trash' since it's a recognisable term. The vast majority of immigrants are highly motivated. The vast majority of people living off the state are dumb white people on estates. With this also being the BNP's core demographic, I find it just a touch ironic.

Leicester's only a minority when you look at colour specifically. "White people" may be in the minority, but large numbers of "them dark ones" are British themselves.

I'm full of contempt for poor, lardarsed people with 73 children who have to blame people that are different because their life's shit. To fulfill Godwin's law, it was the success and hardworkingness of the Jewish community in Germany that let them become targets for hate so easily, not that they were in any way detrimental.

We get posters like the Lemon on saints boards too. Funny as fook.

As i know you won't have ignored me one more thing before i fook off. Just think of the council tax you'd save by have a BNP council. Not having to turn the street lights on half an hour early would in itself save thousands. ;)

Wow, Southampton scum making their way on to Foxestalk. Those people earlier on advocating/sympathising with BNP votes can now probobly understand why (after reading that filth) the kind of people they associate/sympathise/vote with...that should be warning enough.

Interesting to note that the BNP got 8 new seats and lost the 8 existing seats...net gain 0.

Reason being that people think it's funny/cool/bad for government to vote BNP until they realise the damage that it actually does. Apart from the rise in race hate crime, the stupid policies and general hatred that stems from BNP councillors the majority just don't understand local politics. They don't get stuff like council tax, rubbish collection, meetings with an agenda etc and the result is that they do a terrible job. After some time with BNP councillors people vote them out again. Shame they got to that position in the first place.

Also seems that despite calls of boredom with the middle ground the other 'extreme' options have done poorly as well especially Respect (no gains).

While the rest of the country gives Labour a hammering (though it could just about have been worse... but it was still pretty dire!), the LibDems go backwards and the Tories make some large gains (across the country which is important for them), but meanwhile in Leicester...

Labour: 37 (20)

Conservative: 8 (10)

LibDems: 4 (17)

Greens: 2 (0)

Outstanding - Stoneygate, 3 seats which were all LibDem last time around, but strong Labour challenge likley.

...very good for Labour, split Liberal vote helped them massivley, but they did well beyond that frankly, good for the Greens, very mixed for the Tories (BNP hurt them in the east of the city) but poor overall (though winning two seats in Knighton was very good) and utterly dire for the LibDems.

lol Spin!

Labour - Lose Scotland, Lose Wales, Lose 500 odd council seats and are reduced to 27% of the vote.

LibDems - Go backwards in Scotland, no change in Wales, lose nearly 250 council seats, however they do win 25-26% of the vote.

Conservatives - Modest gains in Wales, Squeezed in Scotland but gain 850+ council seats and garner 41% of the vote nationally.

Sounds like Labour getting "hammered" to me :dunno: , meanwhile the LibDems do badly and Tories do well... but in Leicester
