Head Honcho Posted 25 May 2007 Posted 25 May 2007 I still can't believe we've got him to be honest. By far the best candidate of those available, similar background to many other managers who've started off in the lower leagues. What I like best though is that he's no "Fancy Dan" and won't tolerate any either. We still have to be realistic though. We've still got a lot of baggage to be shifted and unless he can sell them cheap or most likely give them away it's gonna be tough next season. Top 10 next season with maybe challenging for a play off place but be disappointed not to be challenging for a top 6 the season after next.
Thracian Posted 25 May 2007 Posted 25 May 2007 Elvis wont stand a chance...... If Elvis is shown the door it will be nothing to do with his effort and commitment.
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 25 May 2007 Posted 25 May 2007 If Elvis is shown the door it will be nothing to do with his effort and commitment. no, just because he's guff and out of his depth
The People's Hero Posted 25 May 2007 Posted 25 May 2007 If Elvis is shown the door it will be nothing to do with his effort and commitment. It'll be because he's an embarrassment to this club and football in general then.
Dames Posted 25 May 2007 Posted 25 May 2007 If Elvis is shown the door it will be nothing to do with his effort and commitment. Just his obvious lack of ability.
Master Fox Posted 25 May 2007 Posted 25 May 2007 If Elvis is shown the door it will be nothing to do with his effort and commitment. It will be to partner Wayne Rooney up front for Manchester Utd next season
The People's Hero Posted 25 May 2007 Posted 25 May 2007 It will be to partner Wayne Rooney up front for Manchester Utd next season Partner? More like replace. I've never been able to understand how people tolerate Wayne Rooney being offside once in a while.
Fox in a Box Posted 25 May 2007 Author Posted 25 May 2007 If Elvis is shown the door it will be nothing to do with his effort and commitment. Elvis is about as good as the travelling wilburys!
Head Honcho Posted 25 May 2007 Posted 25 May 2007 Elvis wont stand a chance...... I believe that decision will be up to Elvis. He does after all have a contract with us!
The People's Hero Posted 25 May 2007 Posted 25 May 2007 Elvis is about as good as the travelling wilburys! You just crossed the line, boxy! The TW are awesome. Elvis isn't fit to lace even my boots.
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 25 May 2007 Posted 25 May 2007 I believe that decision will be up to Elvis. He does after all have a contract with us! Couldn't we just put him down, at least then we won't have to pay his wages. End the suffering now!
Master Fox Posted 25 May 2007 Posted 25 May 2007 Partner?More like replace. I've never been able to understand how people tolerate Wayne Rooney being offside once in a while. I've never understood that either? Maybe it’s because when people see Elvis's explosion of pace that beats the offside trap every time it becomes difficult to expect that of a player that doesn't posses the ability of Elvis. The problem is Wayne Rooney doesn't have the lightening pace that strikes fear into the opposition’s defence as Elvis does. If Rooney had the same determination and enthusiasm as Elvis he might just one day aspire to the brilliance of Elvis.
Daggers Posted 25 May 2007 Posted 25 May 2007 I've got that preseason upbeat feeling in my stomach...the one you normally get a week before kick-off. I just got my hope back
mancunianfox Posted 25 May 2007 Posted 25 May 2007 How did a hell about Martin Allen's Auntie became YET ANOTHER discussion about Elvis. Can't we have an Elvis superthread in which all discussion regarding the bloke can be herded into?
Geo V Posted 25 May 2007 Posted 25 May 2007 He came out with some classic comments during the conference and that auntie with knads one is quite a oldie over here in Cyprus although its usually quoted as "If my gran had balls she would be called grandad" . A game of "Ifs" no doubt. I hope he doesnt use another one of the sayings that I have heard since arriving in Cyprus afew days back from my female cousin who tells me she has only slept with one man (I was taking the pi$$ out of it as she is 30), she went on to say that "No strangers balls have hit against her ar$e". I hope thats not MA`s next comment
Webbo Posted 25 May 2007 Posted 25 May 2007 I'd never heard the quip before this week but heard it several times recently so it had lost its effect by today. I'm surprised at you Thrac, that's years old.
Rocky Dennis Posted 25 May 2007 Posted 25 May 2007 Did anyone here Barber make a tit of himself with the question about how MA got on at Pompey with Milan?? Cue deathly silence and tumbleweed drifting through the press conference!! Barber. "Erm, so did you leave Portsmouth before Milan arrived then?" Allen. "Correct" Do your research mate
Simi Posted 25 May 2007 Posted 25 May 2007 Did anyone here Barber make a tit of himself with the question about how MA got on at Pompey with Milan??Cue deathly silence and tumbleweed drifting through the press conference!! blue blood Posted 25 May 2007 Posted 25 May 2007 " its like sunday dinner, managing in the lower leagues is starting of with the veg then you work your way up to the meat" - Martin allen on managing leicester city
The Reverend Posted 25 May 2007 Posted 25 May 2007 Yes, THE comment was about the only thing i heard of the conference so im glad i heard the best bit
filbertboy Posted 25 May 2007 Posted 25 May 2007 "I don't want players poncing about, fluffing about on the pitch. After a long weeks the fans want to see their team have a go""If the players don't perform they'll be having some eary mornings, to remind them about the people who get up early to go to work and pay their wages" Spot on !!!
filbertboy Posted 25 May 2007 Posted 25 May 2007 If Elvis is shown the door it will be nothing to do with his effort and commitment. .......its just that he simply would be better suited to another fecking trade altogether.
