Tevez Posted 28 May 2007 Posted 28 May 2007 Surely this film has to be one of the all time greats. Brilliant.
Bluefoxtim Posted 28 May 2007 Posted 28 May 2007 It's brilliant. TV series was shit, though. Yup...gave it 10 minutes and turned it off Changing actors doesn't work!
Simi Posted 28 May 2007 Posted 28 May 2007 Surely this film has to be one of the all time greats.Brilliant. Is it on now?
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 29 May 2007 Posted 29 May 2007 Is it on now? I thought both were terrible, but I'm a man who beholds a taste for a solid plot and dramatic cinematography. My favourite program ever is Bottom though!!!
Daggers Posted 29 May 2007 Posted 29 May 2007 Surely this film has to be one of the all time greats. I'd like to say 'yes' But 'no', it is not one of the all-time greats.
Ashley Posted 29 May 2007 Posted 29 May 2007 Great Film even features Leicester in at the begining .... We lost
Ozwin Posted 29 May 2007 Posted 29 May 2007 One players was from Leicester, the really rough one who put people through the advertising boards during tackles. Was that based on anyone in particular? Oh and; I'M PLAYING 4, 4, fooking 2 You go Bassett! The ending is the best bit, with him coming off the plane to a standing ovation. Brings a tear to my eye.
Tubes Posted 29 May 2007 Posted 29 May 2007 I thought both were terrible, but I'm a man who beholds a taste for a solid plot and dramatic cinematography. My favourite program ever is Bottom though!!! you know your telly open all hours anyone? classic
isaidno Posted 29 May 2007 Posted 29 May 2007 One of my favourite films ever. Leicester are in it at the start, in the ' Mr Clutch Cup ' final.
Daggers Posted 29 May 2007 Posted 29 May 2007 TV wouldn't exist had it not been for Perry & Croft and Galton & Simpson Dads Army, Aint Half Hot Mum, Hancocks Half Hour, Steptoe and Son Cinema has to tip its forlock to Blazing Saddles, Airplane!, Animal House, The Holy Grail, Chaplin, Marx Brothers, Laurel & Hardy, a wedge of the back-catalogue from Ealing Studios, Carry-On's, St.Trinians, and the list continues. All of these stump up in front of Basset; a rather one-dimensional, one-gag piece of celluloid tat that could have been edited down to a five minute sketch and not lost anything in the process.
Webbo Posted 29 May 2007 Posted 29 May 2007 Surely this film has to be one of the all time greats.Brilliant. ( I liked the TV series too )
Brainy Posted 29 May 2007 Posted 29 May 2007 The bit at half-time, i think they were being thrashed... and they had to rely on Luxembourg to get a result or something  Swearing like mad at all of them
Simi Posted 29 May 2007 Posted 29 May 2007 The bit at half-time, i think they were being thrashed... and they had to rely on Luxembourg to get a result or something :laugh:Swearing like mad at all of them That was classic.
Tevez Posted 29 May 2007 Author Posted 29 May 2007 When Bassett went bonkers, it was against Mexico i think when he had a go at them all, . Was piss funny when tonka shits in the pool. Brilliant.
Father Ted Posted 29 May 2007 Posted 29 May 2007 I thought both were terrible, but I'm a man who beholds a taste for a solid plot and dramatic cinematography. My favourite program ever is Bottom though!!! HAHA! LMFAO, prefer The Young Ones though
Ben Posted 30 May 2007 Posted 30 May 2007 Surely this film has to be one of the all time greats.Brilliant. Couldn't agree more.
Alexikokopops Posted 30 May 2007 Posted 30 May 2007 When I think of great films I think of stuff like the Godfather, the Shawshank Redemption, Schindler's List... that kind of thing. Not Mike Basset.
Webbo Posted 30 May 2007 Posted 30 May 2007 Any one who thinks Simon Pegg is funny isn't qualified to judge.
Alexikokopops Posted 30 May 2007 Posted 30 May 2007 Any one who thinks Simon Pegg is funny isn't qualified to judge. Fine by me, I'll just go and watched some Spaced and laugh away. Just for the record I never said Mike Basset was a crap film, you assumed that. I just wouldn't class it as "great". I'd class films like the ones I mentioned in my previous post as "great".
City Fan Posted 30 May 2007 Posted 30 May 2007 Always rated it as one of my favourite films. I watched the series as well but that was pretty crap to be honest!
Ashley Posted 30 May 2007 Posted 30 May 2007 One of my favourite films ever. Leicester are in it at the start, in the ' Mr Clutch Cup ' final. Dont we play Norwich in it?
