eaststandtom Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 Sorry to tell you guys but Martin Allen is doing exactly what he did last year with us. A few crowd pleasing transfers out, "Martins Updates" on the OS etc. Wait till you see him on the touchline with his backroom staff, he's truly inspirational. Unfortunately after about 4 months you'll realise that he isn't actually very good at managing a football team. You'll start hanging on to 1-0 leads before chucking them away in the last 10 minutes, the term "hoofball" will be the constant topic of conversation on the message boards, and god help you if you get to the playoffs. One tip if he comes out with something like " I sat outside the stadium in my car with a tear in my eye thinking about the year ahead" towards the end of the season, he's off!! A Brentford fan came onto our forum and told us all this a year ago and we didn't believe him either. Good luck, you'll need it. suppose you wouldve prefered to have continued on a downward spiral and be relegated for the 3rd out of 4 seasons? that martin allen did a shocking job for mk dons didnt he? if he does the same job for us then he'll go down a storm here.
The People's Hero Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 Sour grapes are probably my favourite variety of grapes.
Manwell Pablo Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 M K dons and Brentford are both little teams who had no right to be in the play-offs anyway, so you should all be very grateful to what Allen did for you. He's been a miracle worker at both clubs and gets no thanks for it, just give him a chance, the season hasn't even started yet, crikey !! Your clearly clueless.
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 Sour grapes are probably my favourite variety of grapes. great stuff
Blue Bob Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 Sour grapes are probably my favourite variety of grapes. Reading through this post this was my thought too!!! If he was so poor did your chanting also include asking the board to sack him??? I am not so sure his record is poor. He had good cups runs at Brentford. He took MK Dons to the playoffs, sure they lost but one team has to - he still got you there. He has been with us for a short period of time and has either released or transfer listed the vaste majority of our dire squad. He has signed 4 players who may or may not turn out to be quality time will tell. His communication also seems pretty good. I am hopeful that we have signed a manager who may be able to mirror the success we had under Martin O'neil. I remember talking to a Norwich fan who did not rate MON when we signed him. I hope you are equally wrong.
Guest Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 We're always going to lose managers to so called bigger teams. So what? As long as when they go, City are in a better position than when the bloke turned up, I'm not worried.

In case his has escaped your attention we have been a bottom half of the table Championship club for a few seasons now, we have no right to take the piss out of anyone except Forest.

That won major trophies? Thought So.
The Reverend Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 Don't chat so much shit. Wasnt they the old Wimbledon? That won major trophies? Thought So. Yes. They were Wimbledon before they went bust. But there is no argument that in the current position both MK Dons and Brentford are in, they are both 'little teams' at the minute and that the job Allen has here is bigger than both of those.
Daggers Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 Not this old chestnut...MK Dons are as good as a different team and every right thinking person knows it

Toby or not Toby Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 Interesting you should say that - most on here are convinced that Kelly was awful yet he was never given that chance... spot on
Webbo Posted 11 June 2007 Posted 11 June 2007 You may well be proved correct and only time will tell if Allen is a leopard who cannot change his spots or a lion waiting to escape the reservation and get his hands on some quality meat that he can turn into a decent meal. And that must be the worst analogy ever posted on Foxestalk. Agreed, and don't apply for a job in advertising either.
General Smuts Posted 30 June 2007 Posted 30 June 2007 You'll start hanging on to 1-0 leads before chucking them away in the last 10 minutes Sounds like Leicester to me.
Scow Posted 30 June 2007 Posted 30 June 2007 Sounds like Leicester to me. Micky Adams thinks it sounds like a Micky Adams team.
Pete_foxes Posted 30 June 2007 Posted 30 June 2007 You just can't argue with Allen's record though. He has got teams consistently into the playoffs. It is often just the performance on the day. I honestly can't see why they are complaining.

I honestly can't see why they are complaining. Everybody feels the need to grumble about something these days. Why? Personally I blame global warming... well that and these ever increasing premiership football wage deals The 'complaining' mentioned though seems to be of the vicious cycle type; lower league clubs develop/gain decent players/managers and as the potential in these players/managers becomes clearer, there becomes the obvious attraction of higher league football (and the better wage packet that comes with higher league football) Same old, same old one thinks.

Valid point - ive got a shit paying job which i quite enjoy. Local, convenient, manager happy to help etc. Three grand better off half way across town and i'll be off! WTS.....

So what do you tell us? Dennis Wise attempted to sue us for unfair dismissal with no case at all, If MA tried to sue Milan for unfair dismissal he may have a case.
