Guest Posted 12 July 2008 Posted 12 July 2008 Vodka and Diet Coke for me You surprise me. I would have thought that you'd be able to burn off the sugar in full fat coke without any worries, rather than putting unnecessary chemicals into your body. Sweeteners can be pretty nasty; they give me very bad migraines, and I'm not the only person affected in this way.

Yeh but if you go out at night and drink, you putting in 300 cals a drink from ordinary coke. Say you have 6, thats 1800 cals on top of your daily intake. Plus your going to bed after taking on all those cals then thats when you put the weight on. Personally I gave up drink for 3 months and have only just started again. When I go out I plan to only have 5/6 drinks with water in between to rinse out the sweetners in the coke. Vodka and DC is only like 70 cals, (basically the least calorific drink you can get alcohol wise) compare this to say a WKD which is about 500 I think? Sorry about the essay but thats my reasoning I guess!

Sorry about the essay but thats my reasoning I guess! I go out and have about 10 pints of guiness, couple of JD's & (full fat) coke, 3/4 shots, kebab. Whilst I understand Tommy G's point, I think if I limited myself to calorie intakes etc, I wouldn't enjoy my night. However, I do wake up thinking "Feck,, need to do about 3 hours gym today!!" But, I enjoy it, so all good. I'm out tonight, and think that people should be made to wear foxestalk ID badges, as I only know smuts, so I then could be like "ooooh theres so and so off FT", making me look infinantly cool.

It also helps me to drink slower, as I don't like the taste of soda!!

Guest Posted 12 July 2008 Posted 12 July 2008 You drink something you dont like just to drink slower I am getting old now, I can't keep up to the same old standards I used to have.

At the end of the day its personal choices. I couldn't go out and drink that much anymore. Mainly because I can't stand guiness! Nah mainly because I wouldn't wake up the next day and I'm just the kind of person that stops and thinks..what the hell is this doing to my insides/health? But if you get your kick out of doing that, along with lots of people then it's your choice and I respect that If everyone was the same, and had the same views then this world would be boring

To be fair I got a massive amount of stick for just drinking water and red bull over the last 3 months when I wen't out so soda and lime shouldn't be too bad!

Carbonated water, no calories at all, but it has a funny taste. Vodka has little calorific content, so it's just a dash of lime cordial that is the demon of the drink. I'm sure someone is going to upset me by finding out how many calories there are in a dash of lime now. Vodka and tonic is acceptable as a "man's drink". Tonic water apparently does have calories, as I am sure there is a slimline version, but tonic water really is undrinkable.
Soar Fox Posted 12 July 2008 Posted 12 July 2008 Does anyone on here know any pubs that sell Carling Premier on tap, it's by far my favourite beer but I've yet to find it on tap ATM im just thankful for my local corner shop Looking Glass down Braunstone Gate sell it on tap.
Zingari Posted 12 July 2008 Posted 12 July 2008 can't remember what it's called as i've thrown the bottles out, but tescos are selling a mighty fine czech "dark lager " at about £1 :50 a bottle
Uncle Albert Posted 12 July 2008 Posted 12 July 2008 Love this stuff. Dont mind one of these every now and again.
Unabomber Posted 12 July 2008 Posted 12 July 2008 Looking Glass down Braunstone Gate sell it on tap. Nice, got a can now

Vodka lime & soda - 76 calories Tonic water was invented for gin and together they can crush the world. A drink for heroes.
RowlattsFox Posted 12 July 2008 Posted 12 July 2008 I need to start trying other drinks because I usually just stick to what I know I like i.e Becks and most beers to be honest. I don't want to buy a drink that I might not like, I would consider it a waste of money. Obviously I wouldn't try a variety of drinks on the same night though, that would be bad.
act smiley Posted 13 July 2008 Posted 13 July 2008 Does anywhere do Brains, or am I going to have to stock up when I'm back in Cardiff on Monday?

Zingari Posted 14 July 2008 Posted 14 July 2008 Gambrinus or Staropramen Dark? if i see any of those i'll try them , but i just got a few more bottles in and its called "pivovar herold " nectar of the gods and another is called "bernard dark " but thats not as good imo and more expensive in a posh bottle
