potter3 Posted 20 June 2007 Posted 20 June 2007 I liked Scarborough, it's not nice to see a club die. Hopefully the fans will be succesful and set-up a new club...
davieG Posted 20 June 2007 Posted 20 June 2007 What's the betting the ground is eventually sold for a very tidy sum and houses are built.
Manwell Pablo Posted 20 June 2007 Posted 20 June 2007 What's the betting the ground is eventually sold for a very tidy sum and houses are built. It's Scarborough mate, it will probabley be a B&B or a caravan site.
Tubes Posted 20 June 2007 Posted 20 June 2007 very sad indeed what will happen with the league i doubt they would play with one less team probably promote someone from the league below
Leonisco Posted 20 June 2007 Posted 20 June 2007 Huge shame when a club dies like this. More should be done to protect them. RIP Scarborough FC.
act smiley Posted 20 June 2007 Posted 20 June 2007 They might do that or keep a team up, I dunno. Its very disappointing, especially considering they've had some pretty successful people go through the club who obviously haven't gone back and bailed them out, and it only goes to show what a state football has got itself worked into
Alexikokopops Posted 20 June 2007 Posted 20 June 2007 very sad indeedwhat will happen with the league i doubt they would play with one less team probably promote someone from the league below Probably similar to when Hayes and Yeading merged to form one club in the Conference South a couple of months ago, when Weston-Super-Mare were kept up and then the leagues below had someone promoted into them to make the numbers up.
Daggers Posted 20 June 2007 Posted 20 June 2007 HM Revenue & Customs bastards. I don't know how Nationwider gets up and the morning and looks at himself in the mirror. Seriously, I have no idea. He may not have any mirrors, I just don't know.
Katy Posted 20 June 2007 Author Posted 20 June 2007 What's the betting the ground is eventually sold for a very tidy sum and houses are built. It's right next to a school so it's a dead cert. The damn Council wouldn't let them sell it. I have a Scar shirt from 1995 when they were sponsored by Yorkshire Coast Radio - happy days.
The Reverend Posted 20 June 2007 Posted 20 June 2007 No-one likes to see this ('cept for if it were Derby or Forest).
Asha Posted 20 June 2007 Posted 20 June 2007 No-one likes to see this ('cept for if it were Derby or Forest). yeah but would we even want Derby or Forest to die? The whole fun in hating them would no longer exist, and the derbies we look for first when the fixtures come out would not be there.
BartonFox Posted 20 June 2007 Posted 20 June 2007 Jimmy Glass 98th minute of the final game of the season, the Sea Dogs were already on the pitch celebrating survival. Who would have thought it would have come to this? Still remember that Wolves fan going through the roof on their first ever game in the League.
Brainy Posted 20 June 2007 Posted 20 June 2007 Really am gutted. So disappointing to see this happen to any club.
Simi Posted 20 June 2007 Posted 20 June 2007 Really am gutted. So disappointing to see this happen to any club. Seconded. Good luck to all of the fans

Still remember that Wolves fan going through the roof on their first ever game in the League. I was so fuming I rang up David Mellor on 606! That knobhead shouldn't even have been playing in that game anyway (Glass not Mellor )
The Stig Posted 21 June 2007 Posted 21 June 2007 I once went past the Scarborough ground, it gave me an enourmous craving for chips. That night we went out to a resturant (we were on a luxury holiday in scarborough in our freshly brought 1992 motor home) and I did indeed get my chips. They were very nice and we complemented the chef on the way out. Just thought I'd share that with you.
Jay Posted 21 June 2007 Posted 21 June 2007 While the rich get rich the poor get poorer!! this will be the first of many clubs to go this way in my opinion while the premiership makes millions the grass roots game has been forgotten. The FA needs to act now to stop this spreading else the pride we have in 4 hard fought domestic leagues will filter away to the sh ite they have in Spain and Italy with only 2 real leagues.

You are so right. Boston will be next
MC Prussian Posted 22 June 2007 Posted 22 June 2007 R.I.P. Scabbie. Hope they can bounce back under a different name, with the same fanbase and better fundings (analog to FC United).
eaststandtom Posted 22 June 2007 Posted 22 June 2007 very sad i remember seeing a pre season friendly whilst on holidaythere in 1989 scarborough vs newcastle micky quinn scored and it was 1v0 from what i recall everything was mcains
Alexikokopops Posted 22 June 2007 Posted 22 June 2007 What level were they at? Conference North I believe. They were relegated from the league by that Jimmy Glass goal.
