Dunno what the weather is like down there, was baking hot when I was at Leicester Uni on Saturday, but up here it's fooking mental. Roads closed, schools closed, rain everywhere. People having to wade to their houses, houses flooded, drains overflowing. Now they don't think the tidal barrier, which defends Hull (which is below sea level) from being flooded by the Rivers Hull and Humber and the North Sea, will hold out. There's emergency services everywhere and its got to the state where it is officially an emergency. Some guy died because his car got washed into a drain or something.... mental.

What's it like down there? As bad?

It seems a man died when he got his foot stuck in a drain. He was being 'helped' by emergency services for 3 HOURS!!! Now either I've watched Saw (+ other horrors) too much, or I'm being weird... but why didn't they cut his foot off!!! The fire brigade were there, police divers!! Just cut his foot/leg off and worry about that later.

I know I'd rather prefer to worry about me bleeding to death in an air ambulace than the certain knowlegde of drowning with my 'expendable' foot in a drain!!!:unsure:

You can get about just fine.... if you have a canoe. The roads have become rivers.

It's a bit bad in Lincs at the moment. I hope Hullfox is ok

Some might not be pleased to know but Hullfox is fighting fit.

Just got in from an afternoon's good samaritaning. Had to help a friend out of her house in the street next to where the young man died. I don't think that people should criticise the emergency services too swiftly, the water was like a fast flowing river and was treacherous to walk through. It was filthy too.

I've also helped some stranded parents and children to get home by giving them a lift in my pick up. Some roads had dislodged manhole covers and the water was shooting up three or four feet into the air. As Burnham said, it was unbelievable to witness.

I'm soaked through and freezing cold but the Hullfox family are all safe, well and dry. Unfortunately, not the same can be said for that poor man's family.

Glad to hear it. What a horrible thing to have happened :(

Just cos I was a bit mischievous make no mistake that I'm as well pleased as anyone that you and your family are okay.

And that you've been able to help out.

I just hope there are no more tragedies.

I'd love there to be a tv series " The adventures of mischievous Thracian" :D

The streets of Hull havent been this full of S hit since Peter Taylor was around!

Sorry couldnt resist.

There was a great quote on BBC news yesterday where they had a local on the phone, and the newsgrl said 'so how was your walk home? presumably you must have seen others who were in the same boat'
