Tubes Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 2 million would be a fair price i think for a quality midfielder who got players player and player of the season for a promoted team and still has a few good years left in him i would think and to be honest i would expect to pay at least 1.5 million for a player like that so for an extra 500k to get DJ i think would be a pretty good deal for us and birmingham both
MBK Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 Clemence yes, Cambell no. Absolute waste of money with what we have already.
Milans Foxes Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 Clemence yes, Cambell no. Absolute waste of money with what we have already. He would not be a waste of money at all. In his professional career, he has scored 24 goals in 42 starts, which is pretty good in my opinion. Even if he isnt a first choice player, he would increase competition for places which will bring out the best in similar players such as Fryatt and Hume. Last season: Hume- 44 starts, 14 goals Fryatt- 23 starts, 4 goals Campbell- 20 starts, 12 goals I know he was playing as part of a promotion winning team, but that is a great scoring record which is far better than Hume, scoring almost as many goals in less than half the number of starts. Clemence would be an even better signing. If we pull this off, I will be really confident that the squad can push for the play-offs!!
Simon Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 Both would be excellent additions, but not entirely convinced that the Clemence deal will come off- I'm not sure we'll blow £2m on them both. However, I would love to have to eat my words...
dandannieldanok Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 Why the hell are people ridiculing DJ Campbell, 1 goal less than Hume all season and only starting probably half the games Hume did. As Brum fans say his goals to minutes ratio is up there with the best in this division.
Flynny Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 This looks more and more like its going to happen. BBC sport don't tend to stick rumours up as news stories if they aren't grounded in fact.
Charnwood Norris Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 If I was in Clemence's frame of mind, I'd think: "do I want to spend another season, perhaps two, in the Championship at my age", then be cast off as a 31, 32-year-old (because thats what happens if say you have the slightest bad patch at that age...just say if he does) if Leicester do happen to get promoted. It'll be great to have him here, don't get me wrong, but I think he'll only except Premiership football, esp. has he was their player of the season last term, it must take some real guts to drop down after that accolade, and pretty humiliating if Bruce say's he's surplus to requirements.
Pete_foxes Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 Good for us if he comes. Just shows no loyalty in football, have the season of your life & then cast aside the next season.
Tomassi Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 looks like im going to spend £300 on watching the boys in blue play at home as i think allens signings have all been superb so far!
dandannieldanok Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 Good for us if he comes. Just shows no loyalty in football, have the season of your life & then cast aside the next season. It's the same with poor old Andy Johnson

Hmmm, It's been siad that MM has a £5million transfer budget for this season and so far we have spent a few undisclosed and brought in plenty of frees / nominals. I see no reason why we wouldn't splash out a bit at this point, and I for one would love to see these two pull on the shirt
Geo V Posted 9 July 2007 Posted 9 July 2007 Wow. I ridiculed the thought of bringing in yet another small striker as that snot the usual MA way and we have Hume and Clemence wont leave Brum as Bruce has openly said he has a contract and wants to keep him but somehow its gone from footy rumours to the Beeb and Sky Lets see what happens but I for one dont want a central midfield of Clemence and Kisha as that wont be the most creative unless the plan is to play hoooooooooooooooooooof football.

But hasnt Clemence only got a year left on his contract. Birmingham have signed several midfielders so he may only be back up now. He may not want to play that role which is why he has turned down a new contract. Birmingham maybe force to cash in on him now otherwise he will go for free, plus Brum have spent a bit of cash and may want to get some back in to help balance the books.

Nick Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 It's on bbc transfer rumours within tuesdays gossip column too, quoting the Daily Star. Hmm. Not that it is actually loaded yet on to the excuse for a website where this paper peddles their piss: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/g...ers/6286738.stm

Thracian Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 Sigh... we do not have 5m to spend. Keep trying Babs. You'll get the message across eventually.
FrankieWorthoYaggedMyWife Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 Keep trying Babs. You'll get the message across eventually. I heard £10m tharc!!! Why haven't we gonne in for Sharp and Eastwood
Babylon Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 Keep trying Babs. You'll get the message across eventually. I don't think i'd get the message across if I took out adverts with every newspaper, tv and radio station in the world.
davieG Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 I don't think i'd get the message across if I took out adverts with every newspaper, tv and radio station in the world. We need to sign you up on a rolling contract to spread the word.
Joe. Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 So the first substantial money signing could be on the way, will it make some of the planks on here happy? Not sure how much Campbell would cost but I think both of them would definitely be good signings if we can get them, especially Clemence.
Kent Fox Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 I don't think i'd get the message across if I took out adverts with every newspaper, tv and radio station in the world. Perhaps you could just pop the facts into every thread. I think the odd statement in Music, General Chat etc would be fine. Just post and get out! One of the Mods will delete it if it all gets a bit fractious
