dandannieldanok Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 Double midfield deal on cards 20070710 09:44 Steve Bruce could be on the verge of a deal which would see Hossam Ghaly coming into the club with Stephen Clemence moving out. The Egyptian midfielder has never been a regular at White H|art Lane after joining them with an injury 18 months ago from Feyenoord and he has now fallen out completely with their fans. Ghaly threw his shirt down after being substituted against Blackburn at the end of last season and that appears to be the final straw as far as Spurs are concerned. Blues boss Bruce is looking to add to his midfield as reports suggest he is set to allow Clemence to leave the club and join Leicester City. The reports have surfaced despite the fact he recently questioned why he would allow the player to leave. "Why would I want to let him (Clemence) go? "He was superb for us when he got back into the team, a real inspiration. He was my captain the back end of the season and won player and players' player of the year awards. From Clubcall.com
Babylon Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 Perhaps you could just pop the facts into every thread.I think the odd statement in Music, General Chat etc would be fine. Just post and get out! One of the Mods will delete it if it all gets a bit fractious I'd had it in my signature before so it get everywhere... still made no difference!!

From Clubcall.com sounds more like an 'increase the fee' statement to me...

Master Fox Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 Looking good... City set sights on Blues star by Bill Anderson Leicester City are set to take their summer signings up to a full team with Birmingham skipper Stephen Clemence next on their list. The 29-year-old former Tottenham midfielder is on course to be Martin Allen's 11th acquisition within the next 48 hours. A fee of around £750,000 has apparently been agreed and the formalities are expected to be completed in due course. City had initially looked at the prospect of making Clemence and Blues striker DJ Campbell a double signing, but while that is not the case right now, Campbell may yet follow Clemence to the Walkers Stadium. The probable arrival of Clemence would suggest he might fulfil the same captaincy role at City as he did at Birmingham, especially after the departure of Paddy McCarthy to Charlton, even though Patrick Kisnorbo filled in last season. It would also increase the competition in midfield, long thought to be a problem area for City. England Under-21 cap Clemence would join Radostin Kishishev and James Wesolowski, recently awarded a new contract, in the battle for the two central positions. City striker Matty Fryatt is attracting attention with Wolves having a bid turned down as too low, and the obvious implication of the interest in Campbell is to fill the gap if Fryatt does move on for the right price. *
dandannieldanok Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 £750,000 is an excellent price for one of the championship's best players last season

Fez of Mahrez Posted 10 July 2007 Author Posted 10 July 2007 Fantastic news, especially at £750,000 which is a realistic price.

He's not coming but he might... And I thought that the Fryatt / Wolves deal was virtually dead now. Didn't Wolves say they were now not interested??
MPH Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 Fantastic news, especially at £750,000 which is a realistic price. exactly. i personally think brum would be stupid to let him go.... but i guess it isnt really their choice.. if he wants regular footy then he needs to come here.
Babylon Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 I would be absolutely delighted with this signing... FACT!
Daphne du Maurier Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 It would also increase the competition in midfield, long thought to be a problem area for City. England Under-21 cap Clemence would join Radostin Kishishev and James Wesolowski, recently awarded a new contract, in the battle for the two central positions. What about Iain Hume? I thought the world and his wife wanted to play Iain Hume in central midfield this coming season?
Kent Fox Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 What about Iain Hume?I thought the world and his wife wanted to play Iain Hume in central midfield this coming season? Not me. My wife did though. But what does she know?
Master Fox Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 What about Iain Hume?I thought the world and his wife wanted to play Iain Hume in central midfield this coming season? I didn't know he had a wife?
Daphne du Maurier Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 I didn't know he had a wife? It's a secret, oh my gosh, I think I have let the cat out of the bag as it were.
Tubes Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 wells should that be the correct sum then 750k on our part is terrific for one of the best players in the league last season its a knock down price IMO and would be a brilliant buy
Cheese Me Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 Really hope this is true. For £750k will be one of the best bargains I've ever known us secure. Quite pleased that DJ isn't part of the deal too. Anderson is just filling in space with his speculation, I doubt he'll come and I'm sure Fryatt is going nowhere
STUHILL Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 Very happy we are seperating the two, so we can get Clemence in. Not overly fussed if we bought DJ as well but more than happy with Clemence. Only worry is....is he a similar player to what we already have, i.e Weso and Kishikev, because I still can't think of anyone in our team who can take a free kick, or even a good corner?!! We also need someone who can be creative in midfield, and not just battle and win balls! The Hendrie deal is looking less and less as he continues to Brag about how many clubs are after him, so is it time we start looking for that missing Player in the middle, or even two, as if he got injured, who is going to be back-up in the middle???
Fox Genius Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 Sigh... we do not have 5m to spend. Babylon, reagrdless, I wouldn't be suprised to see us splash out a few quid at least once thia closed season. I'll serach through your previous post to see your comments on teh transfer kitty.
bringbackWalshie Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 Hume in mid park, 3-5-2. We'll have are best players on the pitch. Weso and Clemence playing just behind Hume. If we can pull this signing off i think we could break into the top eight, it's nice to see us linked with quailty players that can take the team up another two levels
Babylon Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 It's happening.... http://icbirmingham.icnetwork.co.uk/mail/b...-name_page.html
Milan Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 750k, looks really good considering we got rid of McCarthy for a little less than that fee.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 10 July 2007 Author Posted 10 July 2007 It's happening....http://icbirmingham.icnetwork.co.uk/mail/b...-name_page.html COME ON!!! This would be a brilliant signing. I have got everything crossed. Ooer.
Manwell Pablo Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 COME ON!!!This would be a brilliant signing. I have got everything crossed. Ooer. Chuckle, Stephen Clemance brilliant. 1 Million for Dudley though, scandel.
Guest Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 F****ING GREAT!!! I'd like to see us sign Hendrie as well but can't see that happening now. maybe the £20k per week we've saved can go towards Fowler??!!
