Rocky Dennis Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 O yea it is!....double the asking price Milan...close your eyes and pretend your name's Peter Taylor! Im merely suggesting that a successful multi-millionaire businessman and an actual football manager might just be more qualified to make these judgements than people like us
Leonisco Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 Leonisco clemence plays on the left hand side mate. Er, no he doesn't - he's left-footed but he plays in the middle.
kyleolly Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 did he not play most of last season on the left? He'd be in front of weso in the centre anyway.
dandannieldanok Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 What's the big deal with Clemence? He's not that good, and we've already got two ball-winners in the middle of the park (Kish and Weso). He more than just a ball winner, he is a box-to-box midfielder and supports attacks better than Weso or Kish.
Thracian Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 I really think people should think about Porter as competing in central midfield with everyone else. I've long said it's his best position rather than on the wing and if I'd have had to pick a side today there is no question the first name on my list would have been Porter at left-central midfield. He was far more threatening and influencial than when restricted out wide. He copped for two goals, broke up and launched attacks and was a non-stop bundle of constructive energy.

Sorry Mods: Posting problems once again. It would be worth a try I think. He definitely showed good glimpses of what he could potentially do in a position like that by scoring two good goals. With friendlies coming up hopefully Allen will try him in a position like this.
Bluefoxtim Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 He was voted players player of the season and was captain at a team which won promotion. Think about it.
a-fox Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 He was voted players player of the season and was captain at a team which won promotion.Think about it. then fell out with the manager.
Leonisco Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 He was voted players player of the season and was captain at a team which won promotion.Think about it. So does that change the fact that we already have two very similar players in his position? Which was the main point I was making. Well done ****nut.

Which was the main point I was making.Well done ****nut. Strength in depth though, you say we have two players who can play in that position but that won't be enough in a 46 game season + cups when you think about all the injuries and suspensions that will be picked up
Muz Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 how many did he score then, i don't think he even played many so i wouldn't say proven at this level he still has lots to do. 9 goals in 15 starts?

Questioning the hype about the captain and player of the year of the team who got promoted from the championship, when we're chasing promotion from the championship? I'd be careful where you throw those ****nuts. Isn't he more of a creative midfielder anyway? As well as a ball winner.

Clemence is better than Hendrie imo and not a whore either. atleast Clemence wants to come here and if we can attract players like him we can be a top 6 team. everyone has questioned Cort, Kaebi and Chambers but this has got to be a positive signing.

He's a lot more box to box then Kisi and Weso (although I still believe Weso could be made into one with the right coaching) and still gets stuck in as well. I'd rather that than all these namby pamby arse lickers who swan around the park with a 50 yard pass and a shot that goes ten yards over once every few matches... If we sign Clemence and DJ I'd really start believing we might make a play at the top 6.
Chairman of the Bored Posted 11 July 2007 Posted 11 July 2007 Clemence will be a good buy. If we get him, the best of the lot yet. His old man might turn up and give of his goalkeeping advice for free as well.
stevec Posted 11 July 2007 Posted 11 July 2007 Apologies if already posted - haven't spotted it but Bruce has confirmed a double bid made yesterday (or monday) for Clemance and DJ Campbell: Steve Bruce has admitted that Stephen Clemence is close to making a move away from St. Andrew's. Blues have received a bid for the midfielder from Championship side Leicester City, but the Blues boss says the two clubs are still a distance apart in their valuations. "Stephen Clemence is close but we'll see what happens later on today," said Bruce. "There was a bid yesterday, which as I speak at the moment hasn't been accepted. "They've also tried to put DJ (Campbell) into the equation. "The two clubs are still speaking and it's ongoing." Link So if we are after Fowler, Campbell. We have Fryatt (for now), Hume, Cort. Assuming Cort plays 1 out of 3 matches due to injury we are still massively short (no pun intended) up front in height and strength (unless DJ is bigger than he looks).
