dandannieldanok Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 Well I hope he will be unveiled as soon as possible but Bruce is saying although a bid has come in "as he speaks" it has not been accepted.
thanks4nothinglevein Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 is on sky sports news website now under the leicester bit. Bruce confirms both Clemence and Campbell are going to be sold.

Master Fox Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 is on sky sports news website now under the leicester bit.Bruce confirms both Clemence and Campbell are going to be sold. It's Done!! Both DJ and Steve have signed!
martyn Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 Clemence I'm happy with but I can't help thinking that for £1m we could have done much better than DJ Campbell should that turn out to be the fee.
TheBlinding Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 Clemence I'm happy with but I can't help thinking that for £1m we could have done much better than DJ Campbell should that turn out to be the fee. I think £1m for a 25 year old proven at this level is a pretty fair deal. Much rather we got Campbell for £1m than Mcleod for £2m. Not sure who else we could have gone for at that price.
STUHILL Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 I think £1m for a 25 year old proven at this level is a pretty fair deal. Much rather we got Campbell for £1m than Mcleod for £2m. Not sure who else we could have gone for at that price. Yeh when you think of Fryatt being valued at over 1million, I think that is a fair and realistic price for DJ. 13 goals last season with the amount of game time he had is very good. Plus MA has worked with him before and must know he can do well for us.
Bluefoxtim Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 If players are decent, clubs are not gonna let them go for nothing...especially when EVERY club needs a good striker and there aren't many around. From the Birmingham Mail.... Stephen Clemence was today set to complete his transfer to Leicester City - where he will become club captain. And Blues boss Steve Bruce has been linked with Spurs schemer Hossam Ghaly as Clemence's potential replacement. But DJ Campbell's proposed move to the East Midlands has stalled over the asking price. Leicester were prepared to pay around £1.75 million for the duo, with Campbell rated at £1 million. But Blues are seeking at least another £1 million on top of that sum for the striker. Leicester are also toying with whether to sign Robbie Fowler on a free transfer from Liverpool and could switch their attentions. But Campbell is the preferred choice of boss Martin Allen, who managed him at Brentford. Allen could step up efforts to move on former Walsall forward Matty Fryatt to go towards bumping up the Campbell fee. Clemence, though, was today poised for a medical at Leicester after accepting that his time at St Andrew's was at an end. Allen has told Clemence that he would become skipper of the new-look Foxes. Bruce said: "We had a bid for Clem which was not accepted, but things are close. Also, they have put DJ into the equation and the two clubs are continuing to talk. "Do I expect them both to be sold? I would think so." Bruce said he had to generate cash in order to boost his own budget. And he revealed: "I'd like to bring in a bit of experience, a big 'un, if I can. We're after someone at the moment, a big name, so we'll see what happens. "I've got to be creative. I have got money to spend, but not vast sums. So that's why I'm wheeling and dealing." Clemence was an inspiration for Blues as they bounced back from relegation at the first attempt. Allen admired the way Clemence led by example in the Championship and helped mesh a revamped side. Signed for an initial £250,000 from Spurs in January 2003, Clemence has made 125 appearances for Blues and scored nine goals. He was captain Damien Johnson's deputy last season. Bruce may have turned his attentions to Egyptian international Ghaly after conceding defeat in the battle to land Arsenal's Mathieu Flamini. Campbell was taken from non-league Yeading by Allen and after memorably impressing in the FA Cup, joined Blues for £500,000 in January 2006. Should Blues succeed in receiving a significant sum for Campbell, Bruce will certainly go for another centre-forward.
Fox in a Box Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 Clem for 750,000 is good business 650,000 from mcCarthy and 50,000 for hughes (if and when it goes through) , i see him as a replacement for a defender and were hardly dipping into MM pockets to fund this one DJ. Unsure of his abilityand therefore £2m is he worth it???????, whereas Robbie Fowler is proven, maybe lazy but knows where the onion bag is, well we need yet another striker dont we!!!! unless sappleton and hume will be used as midfielders!
Mort Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 Sorry if this has already been posted, Sky reporting it as follows, seems pretty much "done"... Duo poised for move Birmingham duo Stephen Clemence and DJ Campbell are set to leave the club for Championship outfit Leicester. Clemence is to undergo a medical with Leicester on Tuesday and has been told by Foxes boss Martin Allen that he will become the club's captain. Striker Campbell's transfer to the East Midlands has stalled with Leicester prepared to pay around £1.75million for both players but with the Blues rating Campbell at around £1million the deal has been delayed. Birmingham boss Steve Bruce told the Birmingham Mail: "We had a bid for Clem which was not accepted but things are close. "Also, they have put DJ into the equation and the two clubs are continuing to talk. Do I expect them both to be sold? I would think so." Bruce admitted that he needs to boost his own budget as he looks to bring in some new faces ahead of the new campaign. He has been linked with moves for Spurs' Hossam Ghaly and West Ham's Marlon Harewood with the Hammers rejecting a £2.1million bid from Birmingham a few weeks ago. "I'd like to bring in a bit of experience, a big 'un, if I can. We're after someone at the moment, a big name so we'll see what happens," he said. "I've got to be creative. I have got money to spend, but not vast sums. So that's why I'm wheeling and dealing." Bruce has also revealed an interest in Paul Konchesky. "He's someone we've looked at," he added. "We put in a bid three weeks ago and it wasn't accepted. That hasn't changed. It's fair to say our valuations differ a bit."
Blue Bob Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 My thoughts on the last couple of pages: Clemence would be an excellent signing and we would have a real captain on the park. Make it happen. DJ Cambell - not really bothered either way , £2 Million seems a bit steep though Fryatt - dont want him to go, I think he could be a real asset Stearman - let him go Mattock - Keep him, he has real promise and could attract an even bigger fee in a couple of years.

Clemence - Great signing Dj Campbell - Good player at this level, better than Fryatt Fryatt - Time to go Stearman - Bin Mattock - Have to keep. CB - Need one Winger - Someone with a bit more quality Fowler - Yeah why not. Elvis - Any fee will be great. De Vries - Reports seem like he may come in use. Cort LFL
BigGibbo Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 Sigh... we do not have 5m to spend. what are you mandaric's accountant we have as much as he is willing to part with (within reason obviously)
Daphne du Maurier Posted 10 July 2007 Posted 10 July 2007 Robbie Fowler is proven, maybe lazy but knows where the onion bag is What use of onion bag when the coq au vin pot is empty and the onion seller has a puncture and can not get to our village? We need a Boulangerie that can bake all-butter croissants.
