davieG Posted 6 August 2013 Author Posted 6 August 2013 Ay body know what's being built near Pride Park? Went past on the train the other day and what looks like a stadium/arena of some sort is being built? Is it the Velodrome? Yes. http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-derbyshire-22207917
sphericalfox Posted 6 August 2013 Posted 6 August 2013 The size of our population may be a moot point if the majority of those people have no interest in "English" perfomers, be they bands or otherwise. who says the acts have to be all English? I would have thought there must be Asian promoters gagging for a venue to bring over the hottest new talent, and an audience willing to fill an arena to see them, thus making such a venture financially viable?
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 6 August 2013 Posted 6 August 2013 The gaff that's just opened up in Leeds looks absolutely incredible
purpleronnie Posted 6 August 2013 Posted 6 August 2013 The gaff that's just opened up in Leeds looks absolutely incredible I thought it looked horrible.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 6 August 2013 Posted 6 August 2013 I thought it looked horrible. At night it's belting, not so much in the day! Was on about that Springsteen opener more than anything, looked great. I think it's steady, that - this photo is pre-completion in all.
Voll Blau Posted 6 August 2013 Posted 6 August 2013 Can't see why people wouldn't be in favour of this. Got to be a good thing for the city.
SystonFox Posted 6 August 2013 Posted 6 August 2013 Great sport speedway. People often slate things they know nothing about I know it's shit. That's why I said its a shite sport. I only deal in fact
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 7 August 2013 Posted 7 August 2013 Yes of course. Any captured Forest supporters could then be armed, and fight one another to the death.
Filberts Treat Posted 8 August 2013 Posted 8 August 2013 I know it's shit. That's why I said its a shite sport. I only deal in factBet u call cricket wank as well
Mack Posted 8 August 2013 Posted 8 August 2013 If done properly with a sound business plan and budget this could well work. The Riders need somewhere decent to play, and who knows maybe even Ice Hockey in the winter. As the biggest city in the East Midlands and with a culturally diverse population I am sure there are other specialized events that could be hugely popular and well attended also. It's something Leicester badly lacks.
RonnieTodger Posted 8 August 2013 Posted 8 August 2013 We're crying out for one. Somewhere to have big comedians, the darts and big bands would be great. I've never understood how dancing is more structurally damaging than jumping around after a goal. Agree with Filberts Treat regarding Speedway. Although that stadium at Beamount Park is a shambles. So is British Speedway in general now.

Because dancing is synchronised and causes the structure to oscillate/vibrate where as football fans tend to do there own thing and any synchronised movements involves much smaller numbers of people for much shorter times. 30,000 all jumping up and down to the same bet would cause the stadium to do this - http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=EDrnNztzhvg&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DEDrnNztzhvg
The Doctor Posted 8 August 2013 Posted 8 August 2013 sounds like something out of Sim City2000 We need a petition for a fusion reactor, but of course not put it near residents. Near Coalville will do. We need to get fusion working first before we build reactors. At the moment we haven't really got it set up as a viable power source. Fission however is cracked and the safest form of energy we've got. We need to build more nuclear reactors for certain.

I've always wondered why. Although I can't imagine Lemar or Will Young would be able to get the place rocking

I was messing, of course a fusion reactor isn't an option, but if it was, putting it in or near Coalville seems the safest place!
