They have pubs in Dubai.

Don't they?

It's forbidden to drink alcohol there, but it's starting to become more relaxed and there are some restaurants and hotels that serve booze to tourists. Can't imagine there's a 'main strip' of pubs and clubs though?

I vote what.

That's fair enough. I might have faith in those players but if you don't it's hardly surprising the manager doesn't.

In which case change them.

But what don't you like...is it the risk of fielding all out attackers or your belief that they lack sufficient ability?.

Because having purely defensive full-backs like N'Gotty, Nils, Kenton won't work and in the case of the last two hasn't worked.

Sooner or later we have to attack and we need players we believe can to do it.

A problem for so many City fans these days is they've never seen a genuiinely attacking Leicester team in action.

They're as scared of it as the managers we've had.

Yet, as I say, the defensive alternatives have been tried for ages - and failed miserably, apart from the fact we've not been relegated.

How long is it since we've even been in the top half of the table?.

It's like we voluntarily pull a chain and weight behind us.

It's nothing to do with being scared of attacking, I just don't think we're blessed on the left side with the players you've mentioned. They aren't good enough for where we want to be in my opinion.

Find me a left-back who can attack AND defend as well as Chambers did against Blackpool and I'm happy. I don't think Sheehan is up to that standard personally and I respect our opinions differ on that.

Sheehan can't defend, that is fact not opinion. Even he admits that every now and again.

Because we haven't had one iota of quality in front of them. Welsh, Porter, Newton, Tiatto, Smith, non winger Hughes, and non winger Maybury.

Defensive full backs are required period.

We'd probably win, playing our best football since cuffing Sheffield United 4-2

u cant take weso out the team though, and why take mcauley out when he hasnt done anything wrong?

Agreed that Weso shouldn't be out. Don't see why we couldn't drop Kishishev though. McAuley had a poor game against Blackpool and I would prefer to see Kisnorbo there.

I'm with you regarding Chambers (only on the right mind) and my only reservations are that I've yet to be convinced about his final ball.

Sheehan has got a final ball and I don't think anyone questions his attacking ability. Defensively I've been as concerned as others but believe he's improved, certainly with his heading. Whether he's improved enough defensively has not really been apparent from the friendlies/Accington match.

Hullfox is not one for young players anyway but his point about Sheehan closing his man down tighter may still be valid I'd hardly say that was a problem the coaches couldn't solve.

I had the feeling he didn't want to get turned in the wet nor did he want to go giving away rash free-kicks which has been a problem in the past so I guess we all see it differently.

Whatever, I don't see Sheehan as the finished article but I do think his considerable strengths outweigh his weaknesses in the sort of attacking side we need.

On Tuesday night he didn't take free kicks or corners, one of his strengths. It was another thing I couldn't understand.

I don't think any other City hits or bends a free kick like him and Martin Allen saw one of the best of em in training.

From corners, Sheehan is unquestionably one of the best crossers in the club. Only Beswick competes. But we don't use those strengths. Clemence's dinked corners and Kishishev's bog standard flighted free-kicks aren't going to trouble anyone.

One of the great things about MON was that he always utilised people's strengths. Not surprisingly Brian Clough was exactly the same.

But at City it's like the army. Rank matters.

Watching the video of the AS game it was quite clear that most of their good play came down the left hand side, Sheenan not closing down, being too tight, not being tight enough and generally being out of position. He probably does offer something going forward but if he couldn't handle league 2 attackers I wouldn't risk him against decent attackers because he'll get taken apart. But if MA still doesn't want to play Levi and Hayes isn't fit I'd prefer Sheenan on the left wing than Newton.

You must have watched a different video to me. The video I saw, Accrington were waltzing through the middle as much as anything.

Sheehan was shown starting our goal move from the left - a bit further forward than what I thought - and much of the rest, and there was not a lot all told, showed play on the side opposite to Sheehan.

As I've mentioned, Sheehan coped well enough with the Sheffield Wednesday players when we won 2-0 and has a record now of P6, W4, D1, L1. There were at least three clean sheets in that lot too and in the time Sheehan was on the pitch we conceded just twice in the six games from memory.

Not particularly significant I admit but statistically better than Mattock as he suffered two defeats in the five matches he's played a part in.

The only defeat for Sheehan was against Premiership Bolton and even there we won the part he played in. In fact his appearance as a substitute almost enabled us to force a draw as he made a goal and and so nearly provided the equaliser for Dublin.

However, I'm all for Clarke starting the game against Crystal Palace. We won't be doing much attacking anyway so Sheehan would only be lined up for another unjustified crucifixion and it'll be just the place for Clarke to show what a robust signing he is.

I know I am being harsh on McAuley who rarely lets us down but Im going for this...

FULOP

CHAMBERS - KISNORBO - N`GOTTY - CLARKE

KAEBI - WESO - CLEMENCE - HUME

DJ - FRYATT

Kaebi`s fitness is a doubt as is Chambers but thats the side I`d try for a game as it has plenty of pace in it which could cause plenty of problems at this level. As i said before, McAuley may miss out which is unfair but like the same reasons why I have dropped Kisha for now, I think that we must pick our best team and Weso would just shade Kisha for me to partner Clemence in the middle of the park. I like the way Weso is breaking forward and I think with a sustained run in the side he can actually start adding quite a few goals to his game. I`d try to use Hume like WBA used Koumas and Birmingham use McSheffery and thats giving him ago as an attacking left-midfielder. The balance isnt perfect but Hume does possess a good footballing brain and can pass and can also bother the defenders by harassing them from that side. I`d be worried about him covering for Clarke if he goes forward but then again the shielding role is for Clemence so maybe he could help. Again another unlucky one would be MDV who has done little wrong. I am still convinced MF has something about him and is more of a natural penalty box player who can score the goals for us. Kaebi is the unknown but if we believe the hype and the odd youtube clip I think him and Chambers will make the best right side of the pitch in the Championship!

Floppy;

Beerman, Not Gotty, Mac The Knife, Nobbleham Clarke;

Clemency, Kisibetter, We'sallowedonskis,

FHumey, Fridge Freeze, Stapplegun.

Subs: Martin Allen, Mike Stowell, Vision from Hellings, Oneinthe Kissa, That Bloke with the Big Drum.

That's the toughest team I can think of without risking Hellfire to rope in the Kray Twins.

This game will be out and out attrition and there is no point pretending that there will be anything that relates to prolonged attacking football from Leicester.

De-fence will be the key and we can buy a big one from Wickes on the way.

There's no point my championing an attacking approach cos I won't be there, though I might be in spirits!.

It's my son's 21st so I don't care if City spend the whole game corralled in their own penalty area which seems to have become the established trend anyway at Selhurst Park.

For those who view football as something of a sado-masochistic ritual rather than an art form it should be a great day out.

And at least as uninspiring as the last two years cos that's what games at Palace are all about...

Pain and suffering.

Hic, Hic, Hooray. Up The City :scarf: :scarf:
