I thought Levi did well when he came on today.

But I don't think he's a long term answer to the left midfield role.

I still believe out of the current crop, Levi is the answer to the left wing problem. Demonstrated today what he can do and is a lot better than anything else available.

any youngster coming through needs to have some good pros around them to help them settle and flourish into the 1st team set up.

truth is, Levi came in early and after a bit of promise, was expected to drag us out of our relegation hole and single handedly lead us into the prem

if anyone would have been good last year, then they would have been sold.

time will tell if Porter will be any good, but at least give him a bit of slack to see what he can do in an ever improving squad.

If someone says that Levi should play in central midfield and then gives a list of what clemence can do and basically saying that Levi can do better and to top it off he suggests that we should spend £5m on Heskey and pay him in defence, I think he does deserve the ridicule!

I don't think anyone would say he's a left winger. I imagine MA wanted some help for Clarke, some stability and some crosses. And if Sheehan's crossing let him down I'm surprised because they're usually a strong part of his game.

Apart from being 5 ft 11 ins what else is it that sets Clemence apart?

Levi did okay today. It was nice to have an attacking player in the wide position. Ultimately he can't shoot, has no pace and his vision/passing is no better than competent. He's probably a tidy enough player to make it somewhere, but not here.

What gets me about this is that even if people think his performances last season were utter shite, the guy's 20, and is under new management. I don't think he's great, but he's a decent enough player and his first few performances were a breath of fresh air. If he can recapture that, it can only be good for us.

He was given a chance today, and seemed to do well with it. Hopefully he'll prove a few people wrong.

Porter will always be better than Sheehan on the left wing. As would any near specialist.

Just as Gradel would be better than Stearman on the right.

Fair enough but sometimes some of the things said on these type of forums are bad enough to start a riot.In fact, I think it was Thrac who strted the Tottenham riots a good few years ago now

Well said. I've had my fair share of run-ins with Thrac but haven't had to resort to personal insults to make my point. It seems some people in the "in-crowd" can flout the laws that are otherwise strictly enforced against the rest of us.

My point was that, despite his reputation, he hadn't played well up to now and that Porter was every bit as good a footballer in his way and certainly as good as an off-form Clemence.

As always I hope both of em play well. And that both earn their due respect.

Heskey is a poor mans Ricky Sappleton.
