Racism

I dont get real racism like that its just pathetic and needless we're all the same in my eyes we're all human sometimes i think it can be blown out of proportion (Big Brother springs to mind) but people in football are doing loads about it they have loads of peopel you can contact there are always fines for teams sometimes docking of points, Uefa throw people outh their competitions now so footie is making positive steps

Probably true, but a lot of City fans do not live in Leicester, and maybe don't have much day-to-day contact with non-white people in the areas where they live and work.

Consequently they are just as likely as anyone else to fall for the racist crap that is fed to them by certain groups and parts of the media.

The situation at City home games may be better than at other grounds, but as this thread and others have shown, it remains a long way from the ideal.

I agree but surely anyone that's vulnerable to fall for such beliefs is very gullible and easily persuaded. There are many non-white people that work in all forms of jobs and for somebody to form the opinion that racism is correct (just because they don't live in an area populated by a significant number of non-white people) in any matter is unnaceptable. Whilst a percentage of idiots appear in the media (the BNP springs to mind) spreading their word of hatred, there is also another percentage of people that are in the public eye who express ideals of unity.

Surely people's disgust at any kind of racism is enough for these twats to know that it is wrong.

I'm really p issed off about the racist chanting by the florest 'fans'. I am going to make an official complaint to florest, Leicester and the F.A.

Anyone know who I should report this to at each of these?

Cheers.

:D:D

we all agree ...nottingham florest are pansies

Did it happen in the stadium or just out on the streets? If it was the latter I wouldn't bother complaining as the club cant monitor what its supporters do once they leave the ground.

I complained about the racist Chav L1 scum after one match last season - as they were chanting in the street.

Based on descriptions from myself and a few other fans/FTers that also complained, a number of them were banned.

Racism should not be tolerated from City fans or anyone else.

Forest has a text number to send complaints to during the match - presumably anyone hearing the racist chanting would have used it? :dunno:

Unfortunately racism is still a problem in footy, and it's a issue at all clubs including city.

I've been watching city for the last 18 years, and the nature of racism has changed from a very vocal one and open to much more 'undercover' and 'hidden' type.

Unfortunately Jay, there are city supporters that are ashamed of the 'multicutural' support city has, but the % is no different from normal society!!

On the forest game, this is the 2nd time consecutively there fans have chanted such abuse at city, if footy really wants to 'clean up' such clubs\fans should be made a example of..........................................

b tw, can i ask a question? im asian, supported city since i was about 12, my first game was when we signed iwan roberts, played west brom, sat on the east stand, opposite the (back then) new carling stand.

I kept going to the games and me and another asian pal used to go to as many games as we could, and we always sat in the kop. i have to say i was there during the sheff united incident when the chairs and stuff were being ripped off, i was only 14. to get to the point, i sat in the kop again during the leeds game when they shouted and sang 'Town full of P****' and they were pointing at me and my mate.

with all due respect, nearly everyone around us helped us, but there were a few city supporters who told us to get out. since then i only sat in the carling. my point is, and im not questioning anybody's integrity, do the city supporters care about what they are saying or do they feel a bit maybe ashamed that there alot of asians living in this amazing city? i really would like to know, i really would love to go back and sit and sing in the kop with my mates. hope i aint caused anyone any offence. Shame on the forest suppoters, and i wish clive all the best.

Whilst not asian I'm an ethnic minority too and experienced teasing etc at school but not at football (I don't stand out enough to do that). Sorry for what you experienced - being pointed at by a baying moronic mob (Leeds match) must have been very uncomfortable. Glad you say people around you at the Leeds game helped you both, which was somewhat heartening and touching to read. To answer your question, go ahead and sit where you want... I believe there are very few racists around and that nearly everyone accepts everyone's right to live here and live in peace (not saying further significant immigration is supported though). But the main thing for you is that as you know, clubs and stewards have a duty to evict racists if they chant slogans so you're unlikely to face those chants again but I guess they get away with it sometimes. Sit where you want, don't let the morons win - especially as this type of thing is pretty rare thankfully.

I am against racist chanting, but it is just like chanting you fat basard or chanting at a ginger player it all banter, also fans chant about dead players like georgie best, isn't disrespecting the dead as bad as racist chanting?

The number is 60066 - **** knows why I remember that but worth storing in your phone for when the game is replayed

How many Leicester fans chanted 'does ur boyfriend know ur here' and 'town full of faggots' at Brighton when they play there? Can someone tell me how this is any different to what Forest were chanting last night?

have to agree to an extent really; there's worse things in life than a bit of name calling by idiotic fans

i'm sure all those players on the receiving end cry all the way to the bank

On a side note, what are peoples opinions on homophobic chanting? I have witnesed mass chanting of 'you're just a town full of benders' (etc. etc.) by Leicester fans whilst playing Brighton. Is this acceptable?

I am very offended by 'you fat bastard' as I am calorifically challenged. I not only ate all the pies, but the packaging too. The tin foil is murder on your fillings.

I would urge everyone to complain to forest, the football league and the fa about this and get something done. Ie Fine or get that area closed for the next game.

If we all use our voices about it we can make a difference!!!

When some of our fans have shown themselves up to be complete idiots and to demonstrate a similar level of callousness by cheering the abandonment of the match complaining about some childish, sheeplike racist chant strikes me as being hollow.

I'm led to believe that a number of LCFC fans were chanting sectarian rubbish at Lennon, will we be complaining about that?

he sat the seat infront of me tonight , he was earwigging my telephone conversations to find out what had happened in the dressing rooms . walshie sat to my right along with kasabians tom meighan

I was in that area too.

Saw Peter Jones, tom from kasabian(same row as him) and walshie.

On to the racism- we (Mrs and me) didnt hear nothing, even when we left the ground, although it was abit of a tense atmosphere.

You'll always get racist twats everywhere, im sure we have our own racists too.

The worst i heard were the Leeds scum at teh Walkers who sang the"town full of pakis'.

Its hurtful, but the good thing is when the decent folk(even the Leeds fans) told them to fcuk off/shut the fcuk up.

You'll get good and bad in all walks of life, but as long as the decent folk out number the idiots,i dont let it worry me too much.

I never said we were perfect, but the chants were unacceptable and we should complain and if they have reason to complain about our fans then so they should. This kind of behaviour needs to be eradicated from the game.

Of course they were unacceptable but there seems to me to be a case of putting one's own house in order before attempting to tell others how to control theirs.

We've got fans on here saying how they are concerned about racism at our ground and are worried about sitting in various parts of the ground - frankly I'm more concerned about that.

Last season there was an incident in L1 which involved racist chanting.

But like ive said before, and others have said,in all walks of life you will get idiots and bigots.

As long as the majority are decent people, you cant lose any sleep over it.

Hopefully if incidents happen at the walkers, the decent folk amongst us can sort out the idiots
