To be fair the word "Paki" has been blown out of proportion, it's short for pakistani.

Okay, I can easily see why Indians and other non Pakistani Asian would find it rasict, but thats like finding the word "Brit" offensive?!

I understnad that 99% of the time, when some twat does call someone a "Paki" they are meaning it as a racial slur, but that wasn't the point I was trying to make....

So next time i'm called a 'paki' i should take it on the chin and explain to the culprit

"actually young chap the name paki is short for pakistani.

My parents are actually born in India and came here in the 60's

I am born and bred in England so that indeed makes me English"

At that the point the culprit would wield his stanley knife and shout

"you aint English you paki brown bastard, now fcuk off back home else i'll do ya"

at which point i would get in my car and drive home.....all the way to Evington!!!

:D:rolleyes:

Jesus, whats the story behind your sig? lol

Just going off topic slightly. My sig is because I support Leicester & the Republic of Ireland! Don't know what else to say! :D

Oh I've just spotted it! You mean the 'Honky' thing. You can click on the sig and it will take you to that thread.

IIRC, the thread was about who was going to be City captain. I think we'd signed Sappleton, DJ, N'gotty, Chambers, Cort, Hellings, plus having Newton, De Vries, Kisnorbo and Kenton (& Elvis) in the squad, it's fair to say we have quite a few black players in our squad, yet the captaincy will still go to a honky! (& it did!) I just thought it was a funny post.

The day our fans sing "we are multi cultural, say we are multi cultural" to the "we are top of the league" tune then racism in leicester will be non exisitent. The fact is that although we are one of the most cultural city's in england outside london, racism is still very evident inside the city. Maybe not on the same level as in the eighties in terms of violence but verbally. I have indian mates who speak about people from pakistan in the most disgusting way heard to man. I get the impression that they are trying to prove that they don't want to be associated with the word paki and almost seem to blame pakistani people for this???!!!!!

Yes paki means someone from pakistan but when used as a insult is very offensive as common knowledge shows that it refers to someone from india/pakistan......

Verbal racism in Leicester is very high because I hear insults towards asian people all the time. Just a month ago I was in town and heard someone shout "look at that silly paki on his phone".....

Leicester brands that it is multi cultural but I think it is far from that. We may have a majority of people from different backgrounds but that doesn't mean that its all roses and smiles. At college for example there use to be the biggest divide between asian people and white people. It was almost like america in the sixties...

Anyway I don't even know why im typing all this and prob someones gonna disagree and gun me down but hey just saying how it is from my perspective.

All this talking bad style thing.

Think they feel they have to stick to their own people and that sort of thing..... :dunno:

And living in North London surrounded by quite a few of "my own" (Greeks and Cypriots), I can categorically confirm that 80% of them fit that category superbly and I could easily be one of that 80% lol

I agree.

I remember not so long ago I was having a kick about with some lads who at the time didn't know my name, and they decided to call me Ahmedenijad (Lord knows why, I don't even look Iranian) and they threw in a few terrorist jokes. I replied and said first place to bomb would be the City Ground and Ricoh was second on the list. It was all banter, and we had a laugh about it.

Not quite, you ask all those that use it as verbal abuse and they would say different. What does the word symbolise and what does the word represent in there minds, it's not a region they would describe but a negative response of methaphors.

If you speak to a 'pakistani brit', they would be deeply offended by the word, but if you go to karachi, paki literally means 'pure' and would be chuffed!!!

I agree with with your deductions regarding ethnic divide, I come from westcotes\braunstone, and was brought up with predominantly white people, hence alot of my mates were white at school, but at college, I made alot of new friends from different areas, and my new 'asian' friends were very negative towards my white friends, and would say '...why do you hang around white people etc!!'

A large chunk of society in leicester is ethnically divided and never bond, and I find it disturbing how some bars in leicester city centre are known as 'asian bars' and 'white bars'. Although I don't see an Oldham\Bradford style riot but it's not very healthy!!!

The thing this though Singh, it is used with the deliberate intention of offending. So by actually being offended by it, you would be playing into the hands of the ignorant TW*T that said it. Fook em it says far about them than the person they are trying to insult.

I can't correlate the above statement with your avowed intention of voting BNP somehow...

Hi everyone,

I'm currently doing some work experience at FourFourTwo magazine and they're looking to produce an in-depth feature on Asian Supporters. Leicester are one of the clubs they are looking to feature, so if anybody would like to voice their opinions please email [email protected] and the guys from the mag will be in touch.

Many thanks,

Dave

A small minority of our fans (chavs in burberry caps) were just as bad at Charlton - pre match in the antigallicon (pub) chanting "we hate polish" and "where's your work permit" etc towards the barmen standing outside, these so called fans also started trouble with the stewards in the dying stages of game lets get them identified and kicked out of the club for good!.... anyone else agree?

The trouble with the stewards near the end of the game had nothing to do with racial chanting.
