Hack Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 With the great saddness at what happen to Clive and hoping that he makes a full recovery. The team needs to get its mind back on track to play football. Something I am sure Clive and his family would approve of. With Clive seeming to have been the answer, What do you think MA and MM do? I would hope we go back into the transfer market/loan market for a new LB. Sheehan looks to be a left midfielder for now and the future, it would probably be a mistake to move him to LB now. We only have till Friday for transfers! Is another loan more likely? I am sure with the form of collapse that Clive had he is unlikely even with a full recover to play again this year if at all.
lee7 Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 I hear Kenton can play left back kenton was shocking yesterday he played CB and didn't even win a single header.
Hack Posted 29 August 2007 Author Posted 29 August 2007 It doesnt really matter. Not his natural position is it! Why go out and get Clarke in the 1st place if we had someone that we felt could play the position?
DB11 Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 kenton was shocking yesterday he played CB and didn't even win a single header. Hence the
Geo V Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 It doesnt really matter. What has happened to Clarke sounds like a disaster and in real terms, it is for the lad as until we know whats gone on, his health and his career is at risk. However, as horrible an incident as this is, the show must go on. I hope this isn't coming across as harsh because its not meant to but we must all move on, especially the players and get things in order for the next game. There is nothing we can do to help Clive now and thats now down to the doctors/neurologists or whoever is now looking after him. Lets hope that they do there job and get him right asap but the MM and MA at our club must shift the focus back to the football pitch and the left-back situation may well have to be looked at again before the transfer window shuts as I cant see Clarkey appearing on a pitch any time soon.
teblin Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 Who plays left back is not really the important thing at the moment.
S1DDO Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 Its less than 12 hrs since a player nealy died and we're already talking about replacing him!!
Daggers Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 Who plays left back is not really the important thing at the moment. Its less than 12 hrs since a player nealy died and we're already talking about replacing him!! So - are you two suggesting that the position should be left vacant as a statement of support for the player during his period of recovery?
Hack Posted 29 August 2007 Author Posted 29 August 2007 Yes. We are. It in no way is disrespectful to Clive for the teams fans to consider what is best for the team going forward. We all hope for the best for him and wish to see him back in a City shirt, hopefully permenantly, if possible, he deverves that, but to say the team should not plan to move forward is just not real. Like any company or entity that suffers a tragedy, you have to plan to move on and so must LCFC.
Mort Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 Its less than 12 hrs since a player nealy died and we're already talking about replacing him!! To be fair, no one's being disrespectful its just beyond wishing Clarky all the best and hoping he gets better soon and there's nothing seriously wrong with him, there really isnt much we can do.... but at the same time there's some pretty big practical problems arrising from his incapacitation and as a football club we need to address them and fast.
teblin Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 So - are you two suggesting that the position should be left vacant as a statement of support for the player during his period of recovery? I said who plays left back isn't the most important thing!!!! How is that wrong and how am i saying that it should be vacant?
Gené and Tonic Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 Your right it isn't the most important. But it is a priority on the transfer front now
Manwell Pablo Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 I said who plays left back isn't the most important thing!!!!How is that wrong and how am i saying that it should be vacant? So whats your point then.
Daggers Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 I said who plays left back isn't the most important thing!!!!How is that wrong and how am i saying that it should be vacant? Football isn't the most important thing, full stop...but this is a forum for Fox-related discussion and, having just lost a left-back, it would seem reasonable to discuss the position. At best, your comment is redundant.

Daggers Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 At worst? That's the bit where I launch into invective. I must say though Steven, having just trawled through the match thread...your comments were among the few reasonable & informative posts there
Ric Flair Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 I still think left wing is a far more problematic position for us. Sheehan and Mattock are left back's by trade and although there's a lack of experience and question marks over whether they are good enough yet, i'd rather us focus on getting a quality left winger in.

Didn't say it wasn't reasonable!! Just said it wasn't the most important thing. But fair enough people want to dicuss it.
Daggers Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 Didn't say it wasn't reasonable!!Just said it wasn't the most important thing. But fair enough people want to dicuss it. Then please feel free to chip in with your actual point, at any convenient moment...
teblin Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 Then please feel free to chip in with your actual point, at any convenient moment... Just that at the point of my original post, i thought it was a bit soon to be dicussing it. But you are right it is a football forum, so everyone has the right to dicuss it.
Hack Posted 29 August 2007 Author Posted 29 August 2007 So can we now get some opinions on what MA will do about this situations. Buy, Loan or use what we have got?
Thracian Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 kenton was shocking yesterday he played CB and didn't even win a single header. He was shocking at left-back too when I saw him last season.
Daggers Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 So can we now get some opinions on what MA will do about this situations. Buy, Loan or use what we have got? Phew! I reckon we're a bit stuffed to replace him. Rik's right - we'll use what we have. What concerns me is that the promised 2,3 or 4 new signings simply haven't arrived and our games so far have exposed that although we have a reasonable first team our squad is paper-thin is real quality. One or two more injuries to this squad will cramp the season up to Xmas, we have no depth. Wherever anyone reckons our priorities lie, the truth is that we have failed to attract any talent since Milan's last public statement (or Milan is not prepared to pay a perceived over the odds demand in transfer /contract)
