lookwhaticando Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 Reid. I weep. Could be worse, I suppose... as long as we hire a manager before Taylor gets sacked...
Ozwin Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 I probably won't be liked for saying this but Warnock > Reid IMO. Reid just comes across as a bit of a sulky, not too fussed manager. He always has done.

Kent Fox Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 Reid. I weep. Could be worse, I suppose... as long as we hire a manager before Taylor gets sacked... Reid in and weep.. Wasn't that a Mealoaf song?? "Read em and weep - for the memories still alive in the bed Read em and weep - for the lies we believed Running silent and deep - and all the things that can never be said" Very apt
Jay Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 please not reid milan. maybe it's all part of his cunning pr plan put the word out on the street about Monkey Head so that when he gives the job to Warnock it softens the blow!!!
Jay Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 In the land, where I was born, Lives a man, with a monkey's heed, And he went to S*nderland, And his name, is Peter Reid. [altogether now] Peter Reid's got a f***in' monkey's heed, A f***in' monkey's heed, A f***in' monkey's heed, Peter Reid's got a f***in' monkey's heed, A f***in' monkey's heed, A f***in' monkey's heed. To the tune of Yellow Submarine... OR a slightly different version from this months 442... In the town.... called Sunderland there lived a man with a monkeys head and they called him Peter Reid He peels bananas with hist feet Peter Reid peels Bananas with his feet Bananas with his feet, Bananas with his feet
Milky Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 Worthington has just ruled himself out. Don't flatter yourself shit breath.
BlueFox_23 Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 I definately don't want Reid or Roeder ! My personal choice is Paul Jewel !
fox123 Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 Any one fancy a bit of ruud? Former Chelsea coach Ruud Gullit has hinted he would be interested in returning to management in England (Telegraph). Linkage about half way down
Trav Le Bleu Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 Perhaps Graham Taylor could come out of retirement? Just kidding!
Brainy Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 Paul Jewell or Gary Johnson (Bristol City) Those are my two choices too
teblin Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 Any one fancy a bit of ruud?Former Chelsea coach Ruud Gullit has hinted he would be interested in returning to management in England (Telegraph). Linkage about half way down Sexy football eh? Not so sure he;d be the right man.
teblin Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 Sexy football eh?Not so sure he;d be the right man. Gullit has been married three times and has six children: Yvonne de Vries - 1984 to 1991 He's related to big mark too
Cheese Me Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 Tbh I think everyone would take Warnock over Reid. And for me, Reid just comes across simply as a shite manager. I wouldn't. Anyone over Warnock and whilst Reid would be a long way from my first choice I definitely can see him getting us out of this division. He did very well at Sunderland for years.
Cheese Me Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Reid Not a bad record that actually. We could do worse (although obviously we could do better too)
TheBlinding Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 I don't think Peter Reid would be too bad. At Man City he had consectutive top 5 finishes and then a top 10 finish and was sacked. Then at Sunderland he took over and saved them from relegation to league 1 and then finished top of the championship in the next season. Last day relegation from the Prem but then finished 3rd (Lost in the shootout against Charlton in Play Off Final after 4-4 draw) Then they finished champions again with 105 points and then two 7th places in the Premiership. Leeds was a sinking ship and he messed up a bit at Cov. But in his 3 full seasons in this league he's finished: 1st 3rd 1st He's wouldn't be my first choice but he would be far better option than Warnock.
Mort Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 Reid is a safe and competent choice... the sooner we get a capable manager in the better IMHO not having a manager at this stage is simply beyond a joke! Any manager worth his salt (and Reid has had a good record in the championship for the most part) should be able to take the team we currently have, along with the "backing" MM can offer and make a credible challenge for promotion of that I'm certain.
epk Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 LEICESTER CITY are anticipated to request permission to talk to Aberdeen manager Jimmy Calderwood, his assistant Jimmy Nicholl and coach Sandy Clark about moving to the Walkers Stadium, writes RON SCOTT.New Leicester owner Milan Mandaric sacked manager Martin Allen last week, the man who had only been appointed to the job in May. Although Calderwood hasn’t worked in England since he left Birmingham City to head for Holland as a player 20 years ago, his managerial record has not gone unnoticed down south. Already feelers have been put out and Leicester are expected to follow this up with a formal request within the next few days. Refused After seeing his side win 1-0 at Kilmarnock yesterday, Calderwood refused to be drawn on the situation. “It was a good day for Aberdeen,†he said. “You will need to talk to Willie Miller about any contact with Leicester, although it’s flattering to be associated with any club. “All I’m saying, though, is that this was a good day for Aberdeen.†Calderwood is in the final year of his contract at Pittodrie. Despite guiding his side into this season’s UEFA Cup, the Dons have yet to open negotiations with Calderwood regarding an extension to his current agreement This is what one of the Scottish Sunday papes was leading with today.

Ultra Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 N.O.W YOU'RE THE MAN, REID By Graham Nickless PETER REID is favourite to land the Leicester job after Milan Mandaric was snubbed by Paul Jewell and Neil Warnock. The Foxes owner wants an experienced manager after sacking former MK Dons chief Martin Allen after just five matches. And Reid, who twice led Sunderland to promotion to the Premiership during his seven-year reign with the Black Cats, fits the bill Ex-West Brom boss Gary Megson and Plymouth manager Ian Holloway are also on Mandaric's short-list. And former Newcastle boss Glenn Roeder has been interviewed for a director of football role at the club. Sport of the World can reveal that Jewell and Warnock were first approached by Mandaric's people days BEFORE Allen was sacked last week. But former Wigan chief Jewell and ex-Sheffield United boss Warnock spurned the club's advances whilst Allen was still in work. Mandaric and Allen fell out over the aborted signing of ex-Chelsea star Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink after the Leicester chief had set up a deal. Exposed exclusively told last Sunday that Allen faced the axe within days after a series of rows with the controversial Mandaric. Allen's backroom staff and players were talking about their manager's impending departure before the abandoned Carling Cup tie with Forest. But Allen was only told officially the morning after the cup clash which saw new loan player Clive Clarke suffer two heart attacks at half-time. Reid, who also managed Leeds, Manchester City and Coventry, has already told Mandaric that he wants Adrian Heath as his No2. This story's a lot more damaging to Mandaric than the one he's sued the Mirror for. But in the absence of a writ we had better assume it is true. We'll just have to brace ourselves. Hoofball is definitely on the way back to the Way. But at least W*****k won't be darkening the home dressing-room!
Ultra Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 This is what one of the Scottish Sunday papes was leading with today. Calderwood has all the makings of Levein Mark II. Why the hell should anyone be considering him? Especially as Mandaric has already said he wants someone with experience in ENGLISH football!
