Manager Rumours

Err no I was at the Reserves last night, I can't remember the last year I listened to the moan in, I don't even bother with the match commentaries when I'm not attending matches.

Partly because it's shit and partly because my ears are fooked, might be different if they had sub-titles for radio :D

The horrifying thing though is I had the same thought as Barber, :o I should have confessed to copying him.

No it's ok, do not despair. He was actually quoting someone else’s post off a message board. It wasn’t our one because I didn’t recognise the name of the poster but he found the concept highly amusing.

I listened to the first five minutes and that was enough for me. The first two callers were complete weirdo’s didn’t make any sense and had speech impediments. Barber is just a massive cock which also led to me switch it off.

Does he get paid to do the 'moan in'??? There are very few jobs where you can work with the public and be so gad damn awful!!!

Funny how a few on here would be happy to see Dowie, when at the time suggestions of him taking over were met with a rather less than favourable response. Just goes show how desperate people get when names like 'Peter Reid', 'Gary Megson' and 'Glenn Roeder' are being banded about...

Jewell says no to City

by Andy Mann

Paul Jewell is not in the running to be the new Leicester City manager, the Leicester Mercury understands.

Former Wigan boss Jewell was the favourite with some bookmakers and many supporters' choice to succeed Martin Allen.

Jewell, below, stepped down as Latics boss at the end of last season to take a break from football.

And, as City owner Milan Mandaric continues his search for a new boss following the parting with Allen last week, sources suggest Jewell is not yet ready to make a return.

Jewell is now 6-1 with online bookmaker bet365, who have installed Chelsea youth team coach Brendan Rodgers as odds-on favourite.

Jewell's was one of a number of names to be linked with the vacancy, including former Manchester City and Sunderland manager Peter Reid and ex-Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock.

Reid was mentioned following Craig Levein's departure last year, while Warnock is understood to have been in the running before Mandaric appointed Allen in May. Both men declined to comment on the speculation.

Gary Megson, the former West Bromwich Albion and Nottingham Forest manager, has also been linked, as have Aberdeen's Jimmy Calderwood and Glenn Roeder.

Former City captain Simon Grayson is another name to be linked, but he dismissed it as “pure speculationâ€.

Grayson, who has guided Blackpool to the Championship level for the first time in 29 years, said: “The link goes together with me doing well as a manager, and also having played for them (City).

“But it's pure speculation, and that's all it is. I'm working as hard as I can here, and hopefully I'll carry on doing that for a long time.â€

Meanwhile, City have completed the loan signing of Danish forward Adda Djeziri, as revealed in later editions of yesterday's Mercury.

The 18-year-old joined from Danish side BK Frem until the end of the year. Djeziri spent the end of last season on loan at Rangers and trained with Blackburn in the summer.

He joined fellow new signing Marco Ferreira for his first City training session yesterday.

Ferreira, 29, a winger with four caps for Portugal, signed from Benfica on transfer deadline day until the end of the year.

Mandaric said: “We have been searching long and hard for a wide player, and we hope that Marco will bring the dimension which we have been missing.â€

I don't think that's true at all. There are reasons why Allen didn't get a 'chance' and they weren't to do with results. If our next man comes in and doesn't act like Allen allegedly did, then as long as results are satisfactory then they'll be given a fair crack.

If MM didn't have such a long list of previous I might be inclined to agree. As for the reasons you've heard does that mean you think the decision justified?

I'm interested cos I've heard three or four reasons too, but were they opportunities to show solidity with MA or reasons to direct his departure?

There's a lot of rumours flying about and obviously they all can't be true, if any of them are. But one things for sure, Mandaric has a lot at stake here with us. It's potentially cost him £1 million to appoint Allen and his backroom staff and then pay them to leave. Whatever's gone on, must have been serious.

I've heard stuff, but not sure whether to believe it.

Go on Ric, tell us more, then we'll decide whether to believe it! :D

Because the club have told the Merc that Jewell has said no?

Hardly suprising he did say he wanted 12 months out.

We'll end up with Warnock, I tell you.

I'd take Warnock right now, given some of the other video nasty's we've been linked with.

Don't be stupid we're not that desperate. We'll never be that desperate. I'd actually rather have Kelly and the old board back and get relegated than have that man in charge of this club after what he said about us.

Well thats mature.

I suppose I should use the rolleyes thing after saying something like that, but I can't quite bring myself to be THAT smug. Sorry.

You do wonder if the Mercury "understands" anything sometimes. As in comments like these require qualification - from Jewell himself, a club spokesman or at least someone who might make the claim sound credible.

I;d prefer warnock too reid and roeder.

Manwell, I think you should take a walk and get some fresh air. Clear your head before posting again about who you would like to see as our next manager.

I think Warnock would add to the ill feeling on this rollercoaster. I've yet to be sick on this rollercoaster, yet i've hurled on most white knuckle rides i've been on in the past. I'd feel uneasy if I didn't now.

Get the boy in.

Explain to me why not wanting a man who called for us to be docked points and/or relegated to make up for his own short comings is not mature.

When Leicester restructured their debt after going into administration in 2002, they gained promotion to the Premiership, at the expense of Sheffield United, who had to make do with a play-off place. After United failed to gain promotion Warnock revealed his anger at the Leicester situation. Incensed that City could have got into such a state yet continued to compete at the top of the table, with no punishment, Warnock complained to the press, claiming United should have Leicester's place in the Premiership and the club should have been relegated or booted out the League. Most Leicester fans saw this as sour grapes.[citation needed] Any team now going into administration is automatically deducted 10 points, although even with this punishment Leicester would still have been two points clear of United.[20]

would still be good to get hold of warnocks exact words

anyone?
